I took my children for a camping trip in the 2 bed safari tent and we had a fantastic time. The tent was very clean and well equipped. We loved the quirky furniture and the beds were so comfortable with proper duvets and bed linen made up ready when we arrived. It was handy having parking so close to the tent and we appreciated the comfort of having a proper toilet and shower on site! We enjoyed an evening meal in the restaurant but there were plenty of other places to visit nearby for food too. We would definitely return.

My husband and I stayed in one of the safari tents, end of April - simply amazing place, and such a little gem in the middle of the countryside, luckily enough in our very own county.
Everything has been thought of to the basket of treats you receive on arrival, heating and electricity in the tents, WiFi, very clean toilet and shower for our sole use during our stay to the amazing food cooked and delivered to our tent by the butler, Chris!
We had the bbq hamper for dinner and full english breakfast during our stay both delivered to our tent, at a time that suited us, even so when they saw we were up early in the morning they brought our breakfast forward.
Would highly recommend, and will be definitely returning.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom safari tent (perfect for families or groups of friends) The very spacious rooms were heated and with fresh linen and all the home comforts. Views were stunning of the east kent countryside and the location is perfect. So many things to do in the local area - Sandwich Bay, Deal, the castles, Canterbury, Broadstairs, Margate & the perfect stop for Dover! Lots of pubs and restaurants. The butler service food is excellent and there is a nice restaurant with a bar, just a stones throw from the site which offers delicious food and drinks. Also great for cycling and biking and perfect no matter the weather!

This was a disappointing experience from start to finish. The only positive was that the manager, Chris, was a really nice guy.
This was billed as glamping, so luxury camping in a rural idyll.
Firstly the site is no more than a third of an acre so very little space. That would have been fine for myself and my adult daughter as we don’t need to run about but if you’ve got young children this is not perhaps what you’re expecting.
On arrival we were told that there was a wedding that night and there could be noise. This was a massive understatement. The wedding was in the venue in the next field- the Venus is connected to Ham Hideaway they share staff and catering, the band then disco were so loud neither of us slept until the early hours. We were determined to rally but the next day it started up again with live music. We had a brief two hours from 5ish on til 7:30 with peace then the DJ and whooping started again. We were so thoroughly depressed by this we left and drove two hours home.
In addition to this, I had thrown money at the job booking everything that would make the break a treat.
My daughters £32 steak was inedible.
The maid service didn’t turn up so we gave up on afternoon tea.
The tent bizarrely has lots of crockery and cutlery yet no means to store any food no fridge and no means to cook anything not even toast.
The fact is it’s a nice idea but not implemented well at all.
Glamping and wedding venues are not natural bed fellows. No one wants to hear at close quartersa weekend party they’re not invited to.
I tried emailing the owner several times and have had no response from him. Move been offered a refund for dinner afternoon tea and the maid service but am also expecting the £250 per night back. I will update this review if they do the decent thing.

We just returned from a two night stay at the Ham Hideaway in their safari tents. In total there was 4 adults and 3 children so we had 2 safari tents which made it comfortable for all. The tents and bathroom facilities were clean and the bed fairly comfortable. As others have said it’s a small camp site so not much space for kids to play etc but that personally didn’t bother us too much.
Unfortunately the major issue we had was that on both nights that we stayed, the hotel had a wedding on each night with loud music playing until 11.30pm. After the music stopped we then had to listen to all the guests leave (as the tent backed onto the car park) and on one night there was loud singing and shouting from the car park for an hour!
Chris the ‘Butler’ also disappointed us as he was clearly stressed about the weddings so didn’t give us the time of day. He even used to walk past us and not even say hello. The check in was EXTREMELY rushed and brief - to the point that it felt we were a hindrance to him and we were also categorically told that because of the weddings we couldn’t use the hotel’s restaurant for dinner or breakfast. That was a shame considering it was specifically written on the campsite’s web site as a food option.
Lastly to say this place is dog friendly is an understatement. I would say it’s dog tolerant. The minute we arrived before even welcoming us to the site we were told quite sternly by 2 members of staff that dogs had to be kept on the lead at all times even in the campsite which was closed off from the hotel.
All in all we felt that hotel being next to the camp site wasn’t in fact a benefit but quite the opposite.
As a glamping however I would recommend it but only if you’ve checked the hotel has no weddings booking for those nights!

We had such a great stay here. We took a bit of a punt booking glamping in April with a 3 month old baby along with our 5 and 7 year olds - but very glad we did. We were made to feel so welcome by Chris from when we first made the booking. The tents were fantastic, super comfy, warm, with a lovely welcome basket and in a beautiful spot. The option to have food delivered to the tent made the stay into a real treat, both the BBQ meats and full cooked breakfast were superb. We've got so many great memories from our trip. The kids loved every minute, and Chris, Trefor and Harry were so cheerful and kind. There's lots of family friendly places to explore nearby. We definitely plan to return.

Ham Hideaway is such a special place and we are so delighted to have discovered this gem in the heart of the Kent countryside. As a family of four, we stayed in one of the safari tents which was furnished to a very high standard with lots of classy finishing touches. The welcome hamper was a real treat! The beds were comfy and the rooms were cosy and warm with the heating system.
The service was first class from Chris and his team and they were very friendly and professional. They went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.
We will definitely be returning in the summer!

I've just got back from a brilliant weekend spent at Ham Hideaway. We stayed in Sweet Briar Shepherd Hut which was perfect for a relaxing weekend. The facilities were first class and we made sure to make the most of the butler service ordering the BBQ hamper and breakfast in the morning. The food was excellent and very generous in terms of the portions, Chris couldn't do enough to help throughout our stay and was on hand for anything and everything we needed nothing was too much trouble.

I'm already planning my next visit with a larger group of friends.

I dont even know where to start! In summary, Ham Hideaway is amazing. I stayed for 5 nights with my partner and small dog in the Corncockle Shepherds Hut. The site is tucked away down the country lanes in a beautiful quiet country location. There are 2 huts and 2 safari tents. We chose the huts as they have their own amenities, whereas the safari tents have some very glamorous amenities a stones throw away.
The hosts (Chris and Trefor) are the most welcoming, helpful and friendly people ever! Nothing is too much trouble. My sister and her husband also stayed in the other shepherds hut so we got to see both. Both were impeccably clean and stylish. The food is delicious and I would highly recommend you book the hampers which are prepared by the onsite chef. I could go on and on but if you are looking for a relaxing break with countryside luxury, this if for you. We will be back!!

We had the most amazing weekend here. The area is so peaceful with beautiful views. The Safari tent was gorgeous and it was beautifully furnished, proper luxury camping. The butler service really made it, Chris was so attentive and the breakfast rolls were delicious. We had a BBQ on the Saturday night that was perfect too. We couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable weekend and will definitely be back.
