We had the wedding of my dreams on Friday 26th July and I cannot thank the wonderful Bruce and Sandra enough for everything they did to make sure we had the most magical 2 days!

The lead up:
We booked 2 years in advance and have always felt that all of our queries have been answered, we visited multiple times and had a couple of food tasters and loved the food and the menu.

The wedding eve:
We booked for 24 members of our close family and bridal party to stay in all of the rooms the night before the wedding and for us to have a 3 course meal in the restaurant. The food was incredible and so beautifully presented, everything was piping hot and everyome cleared their plates and commented how nice the food was. We then did some speeches and gave out presents. It was just so lovely. I then stayed in the bridal suite the night before as there was no wedding on Thursday so we started getting ready from 8am.

The wedding day:
Sandra and Bruce were simply amazing. Sandra and Lucas (i think thats his name) were putting the chairs on the lawn and made sure the bows were how I had asked for from our previous meeting. I had ordered a sandwich platter for lunch for me and the bridesmaids which was really tasty and very needed! The canapes were amazing and there was so much food on offer after the ceremony. I dont drink alcohol and Sandra made sure I always had a non-alcoholic drink after the ceremony and the toasts. They were yummy!

Everyone commented on how nice the wedding breakfast was and i could see everyone cleared their plates. Again, beautifully presented. When it was time for the evening food we had a huge buffet and the pizza shack. The pizzas were amazing and such a huge hit!!! I loved that they came in little pizza boxes and i thought maybe people would get a large slice but no they had a small whole pizza!! It was so yummy.
Sandra made sure our cake was cut and put out for guests too.

I could carry on writing. The whole 2 days was just magical and i cant thank Sandra, Bruce and their staff (Lucas and John and the other waiters) enough for working so hard to deliver us a dream day. Thank you again!

We had our wedding here on the 12th October 2024. Our day went perfectly! We were looked after by Sandra, Kim and Amanda. They all went above and beyond for us and made sure the day went as smoothly as possible. Nothing was too much trouble. Sandra kept me super calm and kept cracking jokes which kept my bridal group giggling throughout the afternoon.

We stayed the night before in the hotel rooms. We brought our dogs with us and upon arrival to our room they had set out dog beds and bowls which was a really lovely touch! The room was very clean, beautifully decorated complete with a tea tray! Bed was very comfortable too.

We had a meal in the restaurant that night and although we were a large group with lots of different meal choices it all came out warm and fresh and everyone received what they had ordered. The food was amazing and cooked to perfection. Thank you to the chefs!

We asked to set up the marquee a little that night which helped massively so I had a lot less to do the morning of my wedding and could sit and enjoy myself rather than running around setting up. We paid to use the bridal studio and have catering the morning of my wedding. We later moved up to the bridal suite and were served prosecco. My bridal bunch loved getting ready altogether, the space was large and a lot of natural light too. Again the bridal suite was spotless thank you House keeping team!

It had been raining all morning but amazingly a hour before our ceremony the sun come out so we could get married outside after all. The garden was perfect for photographs, absolutely love the swinging seat and shrek totem pole too! Marquee was beautiful with fairy lights everywhere and nice and warm! Dj Jason was great, played all our request songs and got everyone up and dancing!

The wedding breakfast was perfect, really great food and all our guests enjoyed the food too. Huge thank you to all the servers and bar staff too!

The restaurant and bar area had open fires which were lit and made the place nice and warm and cosy. A very lovely venue. A great choice for morning breakfast too!

We are so incredibly greatful to all the staff that helped out on our special day, it wouldn't have gone as smoothly without the cracking team at the blazing donkey! We had the best time and can't wait to come back on our anniversary!!

Big thanks to John who took great care of us on one of their Winter Warmer breaks. We arrived for an afternoon tea which was prepared and set by a log fire. John was attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed without being too intrusive. The sandwiches, scones and cakes were lovely. We later enjoyed a 3 course dinner, again served by John. It was a quiet day and we were the only couple dining that evening in the restaurant. The setting is lovely, very tastefully designed and furnished. Breakfast the next morning was informal, no menu or table of extras but you need to voice any requests and I'm sure the staff would oblige - maybe make that clear? I liked the room in the courtyard, nice big bed and lovely decor. A mirror near a plug would be nice when drying hair, and although body wash was supplied there was no shampoo. A pleasant enough stay, mainly because of John's hospitality.

Well where do I start. Attended here in September for my cousins wedding, Travelled from Plymouth & wanted to book a room for 2 nights for convenience. As the wedding was at 3pm, I rang the hotel & asked if we could check in at 2:30 as we were driving a long way, only to be told by a rude man that it would cost an extra £50!! On reading some very damning reviews we decided to book an Airbnb which turned out to be great. I have never stayed anywhere before where they charge extra for an early check in! Not a great start. The weather was great so the wedding was outside but couldn't here the registrar or the couples vows, really needed a sound system. The drinks were very overpriced, glad i took my own vodka, there was no cranberry juice or bitter lemon. The food was awful, the bruschetta tasted stale & the beef wasn't even luke warm, there was a large carrot on the plate along with a barely cooked piece of courgette. I asked for some mustard only to be told, we don't have any! What hotel doesn't have mustard!! the buffet was nice, but how can you get food chucked in an oven & served wrong! To top it all my poor cousin is trying to get her deposit money back which she was supposed to get within 72 hours & now seems to have been ghosted by this terrible man. Sounds to me like a hotel in financial trouble. I would avoid at all costs if you were thinking about having a wedding here.

We attended a wedding there and were sorely disappointed.
The wedding was at 3 and we were initially told we couldn’t check in before that. (This doesn’t help when you’re travelling quite a distance to get there). However Sandra managed to score us a room earlier where we could get changed. Sandra was very good but I got the impression the remainder of the staff were less than enthused to working that day.
Our room was poorly maintained with a loose basin tap and a hole in the door as it was rotten. The radiator was also at an angle where it had previously fallen off the wall and somebody has tried to botch a repair.
It rained before the ceremony and it took ages for 3 members of staff to get the chairs in out of the rain, leaving them damp for the rest of the day.
A hasty set up was put together in the function Marquee (why they didn’t have the barn ready for a wet weather alternative beats me).
If you looked at the roof of the marquee you could see all the dust and dirt just above your head.
The dance floor was a joke and looked like crazy paving after an earthquake. The rest of the floor was spongy and uneven.
The food was something else. Hardly anyone I seen managed to eat it. The beef was still mooing the potatoes were hard and the veggies inedible. Not really good enough in anyone’s books.
The main bar had no spirits as they said they had put them all in the marquee. Went to the marquee and there was very little there too, therefore most people were left paying way over the top prices for beer.
I heard since then, that even though the bride and groom gave the place the once over to tidy up, the venue have made up some excuse to not pay them their deposit back.
I think it’s appalling that a young couple who have saved for years to make their big day special are being treated so badly by an owner who only seems to be interested in lining their own pocket. The owner should be ashamed of themselves for running such an overpriced underperforming venue.

After being invited to a family wedding my wife booked the Blazing donkey for the night of the wedding a few months before the wedding date. We didn't get an email or any form of the booking, only seeing the money go out of our bank account.
On arrival they couldn't find any reference to our booking, after half an hour of checking and looking for confirmation and a rude receptionist/wedding planner as he interduced himself. We were given a room to get changed in for the wedding ceremony.
We were shown to a room which in the end we stayed in once they found that we had booked and paid.
The room wasn't a twin which we booked, the wall paint was flaking off the walls. Door shut with a gap that you could put your fingers through and wave to others passing the room. The window had also a gap making it very drafty. Water was dripping from the tap no matter how tight you turned the tap. The bath had chips in the enamel, shower had no pressure.

The bar closed as soon as the ceremony started, which was in the garden. Because of the high winds you couldn't hear the wedding vows, there was no microphone. The chairs were not very sturdy and very dirty, stained you felt that it was going to give way when you sat on them. Once the ceremony was over the bar in the pub had shut and the one in the reception tent wasn't staffed so you were unable to get a drink if you wanted one .
Chairs in the reception tent were even worse than the ones outside for the ceremony very unstable .
The food and the waiters were good during the ceremony, canapés came round with champagne very nice and well presented.
On returning to our room found verythat the bed was small for a double, walls were very thin and you could hear people each side of the room. Very uncomfortable and any time anybody moved it felt like you was on a trampoline.
Breakfast was very small portion, small bit of butter for two people
It was very hectic waiting for tea, toast and juice. No yoghurt berry's fruit not even had decaf coffee very disappointed

The night stay and the whole weekend was very expensive for the breakfast and accommodation for what you got

Attended a wedding in the marquee 30.06.24 which had a leak right in the centre of the entrance, no cones put out just people slipping on a wet carpet, the chairs were wet so not pleasant. The dance floor tiles had lifted and were a tripping hazard. The wedding breakfast should have been good but the roast beef could have walked off the plate potatoes were raw and the only thing that was hot were carrots. Toilets outside were unisex and the door locks were missing, no hot water & hand dryers that didn't work. The rooms were in need of maintenance, window didn't fit and lower part of the door didn't lock. Overpriced with rude barman, treated us as an inconvenience, the master of ceremonies left before the meal was over. Cake was never seen after being taken to the kitchen !!!!!!!

Avoid… Cheap for a reason and they make up the cost with the price of drinks and their lies. Communication is the worst part, cannot get hold of them via phone or email even if you leave a message you get 0 response. Sold absolute lies when booking just to get your business as soon as they have it they have 0 care for you or your day. Was told when we booked the “ALL” rooms package that we get “ALL” the rooms which it even states on the leaflet but 2 of my guests ended up shoved in the horrible tents behind the rooms and their 2 rooms was filled with random people…. So much for their biggest sell point “Exclusivity”. Received no contract or invoices the entire time, took 1 month after our wedding to receive our no damage deposit back whilst being lied to again saying it had been sent when it had not. The rooms are in a poor state, showers completely blocked with limescale among other stuff. Food is poor compared to the taster that you have before the wedding and the breakfast is cold and overly greasy, non cooked eggs and gone off milk. Marque is falling apart( there was a giant hole in the floor). The prices of drink kept going up as the night went on… and as for Clint(wedding co-ordination) what a stuck up individual the guy is. If I could rewind time I would 120% not book this place

My daughter had her wedding here in May 2023 and starting with the positive-the setting garden and marque were lovely but that's where the positives end.
Firstly the management/owner was so rude to some of the guests when they phoned for enquiries
Because my daughter and son in law had not bought into certain packages we didn't get heating in the marque; we didn't get tea or coffee served after the meal. Surely these two things are essentials and should have been included in the overall price not as add ons. I have worked in the hospitality industry and have not ever heard of this practice before
The rooms were advertised as £260 per night.....captive audience......I've seen better rooms in a Travelodge. Money needs to be spent on upgrading the rooms ASAP.
The food was pretty poor to be honest and bearing in mind the bride and the brides father in law are vegetarians the evening food was presented with no vege food even though they knew vege and vegan food had been requested. Also don't believe for one moment that you will get actual bbq food!!
Fortunately I think most of the guests were unaware of all the problems and had a good day but this outfit need to up their game if they want to survive in the business. I certainly would not recommend them .

We cannot rave about this place highly enough. Our wedding planner,
Sandra was just amazing and Bruce the chef is a fantastic human being. Credit where it’s due those two made the day as perfect as could be. We wanted to take them home with us! In fact all the staff working our wedding absolutely grafted all day and all evening. Nothing was too much trouble and the day ran like clockwork. Special thanks to Lucas, John, Bali, Billy,
Shannon and all the housekeepers for making the rooms fabulously clean (we loved the little touches) and the girls who worked tirelessly at breakfast both mornings with a smile - thank you to them for putting up with the hungover guests! Would have been lost without Sandra, she made stuff happen and waved her magic wand. I don’t know what Bruce puts in his food but it tasted and looked like heaven. All our guests loved their vibe and complimented on how great they were. Really enjoyed the local gin and vodka at the bar even though our party drank most of it dry! The dance floor was full all night - DJ was ace. If we could do it all again next week with that team then we 100% would.
