This is a hotel where nothing is impossible, where you get a delicious food and where you feel that you’re visiting your own family even though you don’t speak their language 😊 One week was too short and we hope to come back.

Nice friendly family-run hotel, balcony and large goldfish bowl bathrooms. Press your own orange juice for breakfast ? no, here it's press your own apple and carrot juice. (Do – it’s delicious !)

But beware the coffee machine throwing out different sized portions ... make sure your coffee cup or glass is the right size before pressing the button.

Cable car trip from the cable car next to the hotel is included !

Room was clean and pleasant but very unsure about glass wall to the toilet. Also the grumpy mature blonde receptionist was having a very bad day and did not seem at all happy to help her guests. The chef was also having a bad hair day too.

We had a short staying here but good. Rooms are very modern and well equipped. The owners are kind and available. Restaurant is not top but good as well. The hotel is in the strategic position among the main pusteria road, the cableway, the rail station, the bicycle renting and a few shops. The spa is small but new and comfortable. Overall we suggest this hotel as a comfortable base for your trips and excursions.

In June 2024, we went on a South Tyrol and Dolomites tour led by Helmut Leitner with a group of convertible enthusiasts. Perfectly organized from the tour planning to the driver briefing to the daily review with drone videos and pictures of the day. The accommodation was also perfect for the occasion - very nice, comfortable rooms, delicious breakfast buffet and excellent South Tyrolean dinner. Highly recommended! Very friendly hosts who also sent us forgotten items quickly and easily!

Unfortunately, my stay at the Hotel Leitner in Mühlbach was not as positive as I had hoped. Here are my honest and friendly impressions:

We, as a group of 25 people, decided on the hotel because it is an insider tip for motorsport enthusiasts and the owner, Helmut Leitner, organizes trips to the Dolomites. During our stay, however, Helmut looked after a group of Porsche drivers almost exclusively, for whom he organized two car tours and a bicycle tour. We received some tour suggestions before our stay, which Helmut worked out together with one of our group members. Thank you very much for this, they were really great tours.

Booking and arrival:
The communication regarding room booking was slow, with response times averaging three days. The booking confirmations varied greatly; some included information about deposits, others did not. Still others were required to pay the full price 2 months before the start of the trip. The reason for this was supposedly a lack of staff.

Check-in:
When checking in, my family and I had to wait 15 minutes while the owner made private phone calls. Information about WiFi, meal times and the wellness area and general hotel information was only given to us when we asked. Other group members who did not actively ask for it did not receive this information at all. Despite online check-in, our group members sometimes had to go through the same steps as with regular check-in, which calls into question the usefulness of online check-in.

Room reservation:
One member of our group had booked the tower suite, which was initially doubted by Ms. Leitner. He only received the room after presenting the booking confirmation, but only after a brief, reluctant check, probably because another guest had rebooked.

Wellness area:
The sauna was only open until a certain time and only reached 70 degrees in the late afternoon around 5 p.m. The pool water was significantly colder than the stated 29 degrees. Comments in this regard were treated dismissively.

Food quality:
The food was mixed. While the appetizers on the first evening were very tasty, there were problems with the flank steak. The meat smelled extremely strong and several members of our group who tried the meat found it inedible. It tasted of vinegar. The waitress was uncomprehending and the chef apparently did not try the meat because he is not a meat eater himself - at least that was the feedback. The following day we were informed that the butcher had been contacted and called in. Sorry, meat is a natural product and it can always happen that something is not right, so you don't have to call the butcher, but rather ask, can I bring you another piece or can I buy you an espresso or something similar. Another member of our group received coffee with expired milk that already had crumbs in it - something that a hotelier should not miss.

Breakfast:
The breakfast service officially started at 8 a.m. When I wanted a coffee at 7:45 a.m., I was firmly informed that this was only possible from 8 a.m., even though the owner had given me permission. The owner also reacted very unfriendly when the wrong cups, as shown on the coffee machine, were used for the product. Otherwise, the breakfast was sufficient and had a good selection of dishes. The response was also positive when we asked if we could have scrambled eggs instead of prepared fried eggs.

Disturbances:
On the evening of May 18th, we were disturbed by loud engine tests by the Porsche group at 11:30 p.m. Despite our complaint the next morning, the owner just said that there was nothing more he could do. For me, this is a clear indication of disinterest and a two-class society. Because the noise was not only disturbing us, but also the residents of the surrounding houses.

Security measures:
The hotel's parking lot is secured by a barrier, but easily accessible to strangers. We found the security measures inadequate for the many expensive vehicles on the premises. There is only one camera at the entrance, but no other security precautions. There were often strangers in the parking lot who inspected the vehicles and also took photos of them.

Room furnishings
The rooms are modern and clean. The only thing that took a bit of getting used to was that the bathroom was separated from the room by a glass front. Behind it was a curtain that you could close so that you wouldn't be seen while showering or doing other activities. The bathroom had a large shower. However, from day one, the shower gel and soap in the sink were almost empty. The following morning, we asked for them to be replaced, which didn't happen for two days until we actively approached the owner. She then told us that you shouldn't remove the shower tubes yourself, otherwise you'll destroy them. There is a special key for this so that the shower and soap tubes can be removed properly.

General:

Another somewhat funnier incident. On the evening before last, the entrance door to the outside area of the café was open and a fabric curtain hung down to the top third. After we sat outside for a while and slowly went in through this door, carefully pushing the curtain aside, the owner reminded us that the curtain was for pulling up and not pushing aside.

Use of radios:
Mr Leitner kindly made his radios available to us for our trip. We shared these with the Porsche group, as there were enough of them. Unfortunately, one radio did not find its way back on the first evening of the first trip, so it is probably still missing today. Mr Leitner asked our group almost ten times whether we had handed in all of our radios. The last time was the evening before we left. Several members of our group pointed out to Mr Leitner that the radio could possibly be in the Porsche that had been towed away due to problems, but somehow he was not interested.

Conclusion:
Although we are very sorry, our stay at the Hotel Leitner was marked by many negative experiences, especially with regard to the service and treatment by the staff. One positive aspect is the efforts of the only waitress present, who did her best despite being obviously overworked, even if she reacted harshly on the first evening. But it's understandable if everything depends on her. Overall, we as a group did not feel welcome and had the impression of a two-class society. That's why I can't understand the many positive reviews here. Even some members of the Porsche group confirmed the unfriendly way in which they were treated. We hope that future guests can look forward to a better stay and that the hotel takes its shortcomings seriously and improves them.

We stayed for a few days Thursday/Sunday, a structure we knew from a previous weekend years ago. . . online booking with some difficulties but immediately resolved with discussions with the owner.
.. arrived and welcomed by the two wonderful dogs in the hall and by the owner's husband who immediately accompanied us to the beautiful room on the 3rd floor with sofa bed, wardrobe (with safe), large bathroom with shower (with excellent use of dispenser for soaps and shower gel) (the only particular flaw are transparent glass doors and in one room also with a glass shower wall on the room side), small terrace (partially covered) with chairs and table, in the room in addition to classic towels there is also a personalized bag with bathrobes and towels for access to relaxation area/saunas/pools ...
Very well-kept relaxation area and attention is paid to ensuring that silence is respected, swimming pool and relaxation loungers area, sauna/Turkish bath/... area clean and well-kept, area with cups for tea/herbal teas/water with juices.... (rooms kept very well well by the structure...a little less by certain "undisciplined" users...)
Very professional and good massage girl (and more..)
Buffet breakfast with a large display of savory products, cured meats/cheeses/vegetables/eggs/etc., various types of fresh bread, a large display of sweet products, cakes/krafen/croissants/.. pan cakes... various miliei.. juices... fresh fruit... coffee dispensers etc... all always checked and replenished by the staff....
Dinner (choice on average in the morning, between 2/more first courses, 2/more second courses) with buffet of vegetables.. soup.. first course.. second course.. dessert and a typical Tyrolean dinner in the evening, with excellent courses and always prepared very well . . .
In the hall there are many maps/directions for local attractions, places to visit, activities, etc. and then provision of the Card which allows you to travel on public transport, buses/trains and some cable cars at no cost... leaving your car in the ample parking. . .
Staff always very kind, courteous and helpful in everything.
The owner Mrs. Leitner, a person of character but always very courteous and helpful (the reservation had some technical problems that were immediately resolved and, having to change rooms on the last day, the staff took care of transferring our luggage)

Welcome by the friendly owner. The room is very nice and the dinner excellent. The spa is equipped with a Turkish bath, sauna and large swimming pool, for perfect relaxation. Overall a very pleasant stay. Also free is the card for free public transport, including the cable car just outside the hotel. From Rio Pusteria you can go on family-friendly but also challenging excursions.

I usually stay with my family at the Leitner hotel when I have to go to Alto Adige for both work and holiday, I must say that it is an experience that has been repeated for many years and that always fills me with great satisfaction.
Mrs. Leitner, the owner of the hotel, is a very delightful and nice person, with great professionalism and helpfulness.
At the Hotel Leitner you have the opportunity to spend an unforgettable experience for an infinite number of reasons.
The structure is located in a strategic position, in the historic center of the town, a stone's throw from the cable car and obviously there is a huge car park where it is always very convenient to find a place for your car. Everything is impeccable, all the rooms are spacious and have large balconies from which you can enjoy a splendid view. Don't forget the wellness center with swimming pool which is a plus not to be underestimated and included in the price! Breakfast and dinner are of a superior standard and satisfy even the most refined tastes.
See you soon
