The Franzenshöhe Berghotel lies in the heart of the Stilfserjoch National Park; the building has a long and varied history that is intimately bound up with the history of the Stilfserjochstrasse. At 2188m, the mountain hotel's high-altitude Alpine location is ideal for allergy sufferers, and is well-suited for a great variety of activities, such as high-altitude training, cycling, biking etc..Today, the hotel is run by Karin Wallnöfer, the fourth generation in her family, who manages to conjure up an inviting atmosphere balanced between tradition and innovation. Lovingly restored - new additions include brightly lit rooms for seminars and conferences - the building is ideally appointed to serve its guests. A paradise, and not only for marmots.

When doing the Stelvio, we found this hotel a great place to spend the night. Not in the top, but 1/3 of the way down. Giving a great opportunity to go back up the next morning for additional morning coffee. Hotel is of course a bit basic, - but that is great in it's own rights

If you want great food, away from the top of the hill craziness (we must have passed the pass on bike week or something), this place had great beer and sandwiches. We had speck and ham sandwiches. The bread came out as huge and looked like it was going to be too bready.....but

There is plenty of parking for both cars and motorcycles, but it is outside so not secure. However it is in full view of all the hotel front windows, so I would have thought quite safe.
