It's website is called 'the best pub in the dales', I certainly wouldn't argue with that and I've stayed in quite a few, it's an old fashioned inn ideally suited for walking, only a couple miles from the beautiful locations of Yockenthwaite & Buckden in the Wharfe valley, close to the Dales Way route. For those who genuinely love walking...

The White Lion Inn at Cray is the perfect place to stay after a day walking in the stunning surrounding countryside. Cosy and comfortable rooms, an open fire in the dining room and excellent pies! Can't wait to go back!

Dennis and Mimi made us so welcome after we had walked the Pike with our dog Colin. Despite the booking page saying no pets they are welcome. The room was spotless and the game pie on the menu was fantastic . Breakfast well presented and tasty with local produce used. So good we're spending time there on our honeymoon !!...

This is a great Inn. It has been very nicely and sympathetically refurbished to look contemporary but without losing its charm. Its warm, welcoming and the food is really excellent. Our room was clean and quiet and the en suite had underfloor heating which was lovely. The only drawback was that the bed was far too firm so didn't sleep...

The hosts made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble . Location is deep in the Yorkshire dales and great for walking and getting away from it all . Rooms were simply decorated but with some nice touches such ad bottled water and jar of maltesers. The restaurant food is first class with a good range of...

This pub with rooms was fantastic as a base for our walking weekend with friends. We were given a warm welcome from Duncan. The pub has been tastefully renovated. The bedroom was comfortable & it was wonderful having a heated floor in the bathroom. Dinner in the restaurant was amazing combination of flavours and a change from usual vegetarian options....

What a lovely place. In the middle of the moors. Fantastic place as a base for walking and exploring, before coming back for fine, tasty food, toasty fires and really helpful, friendly owners. Breakfasts are really hearty, with good quality ingredients. Rooms are clean and comfortable. No nasty chlorinated water here, as there is fresh, filtered spring water on tap....

Stayed before renovations many years ago and thought would try again. Lovely spot (still) and rooms now renovated. Great shower and warm room and really quiet. Meal was fabulous too. Hosts are welcoming and attentive.

We were in room no.2 . It had two windows giving an excellent view of the road running by the inn and also a view of the stream. Passing traffic was not many and noise was not an issue ..... except some 7 Porches which raced down the road. Possibly an owner's club was having a weekend in the dales....
