Looking for somewhere for a midweek lunch just after the bank holiday in the Yorkshire Dales, and we weren't let down by The White Lion. Welcoming staff, cozy real fires and amazing food. This place remains a firm and reliable favourite for great food. I would highly recommend anything on the menu but the smoked chicken sandwich and fish "butty"...

We dropped in for lunch during the middle of a walk in the Yorkshire Dales. Hosts were fantastic and food was excellent. We had sandwiches and chips and everything was great. I had the ultimate sandwich which was really good.

Very hard to fault this place after a couple of stays. Great value, friendly customer service, tasty high quality food, lovely rooms and cosy snug. Very central location in the Dales. Can't beat a circular walk from the front door straight up the hill across the stream, past the war memorial, down in to Buckden for the tearooms then back...

Repeat visit at the white lion, stayed for two nights between Christmas and new year. It never disappoints. Firstly the rooms are clean, comfortable and well appointed, we stayed in room 7 and it was lovely. The location is superb, quiet and remote. Food is fantastic, anyone staying must ask for the venison cottage pie, it's brill, but so is...

Staying just after Christmas for a couple of nights this recently refurbished inn offers well appointed rooms, roaring log fires, a friendly welcome from attentive staff and locally sourced food all in the midst of glorious Dales landscape with walks straight off the premises. The menu offers a small selection but very well done. The beer battered haddock was superb....

Arrived early and relaxed in the snug with a coffee. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Followed their advice for a route and went for a nice 3 hour walk through the dale. The room (room 7) was immaculate and the bathroom was spotless. Shower is big enough for 2. Maltesers in the room was a lovely touch. The menu is...

It's website is called 'the best pub in the dales', I certainly wouldn't argue with that and I've stayed in quite a few, it's an old fashioned inn ideally suited for walking, only a couple miles from the beautiful locations of Yockenthwaite & Buckden in the Wharfe valley, close to the Dales Way route. For those who genuinely love walking...

The White Lion Inn at Cray is the perfect place to stay after a day walking in the stunning surrounding countryside. Cosy and comfortable rooms, an open fire in the dining room and excellent pies! Can't wait to go back!

Dennis and Mimi made us so welcome after we had walked the Pike with our dog Colin. Despite the booking page saying no pets they are welcome. The room was spotless and the game pie on the menu was fantastic . Breakfast well presented and tasty with local produce used. So good we're spending time there on our honeymoon !!...
