Detailed Reviews
We booked an overnight stay after visiting South Lakes Safari Zoo. This B and B is the perfect location from there as it is a minute to arrive. We stayed in the Windermere Lake suite, which was perfect for our needs, both light and fresh and spotlessly clean. There was very little noise after 10pm from any of the other guests staying and the beds were extremely comfortable.
The breakfast the following morning was excellent and it is clear that the produce they use is high quality and cooked well.
The hosts Sophie and Luke are very friendly and supply their telephone number in case of any issues.
An excellent overnight stay and when we return to the Lake District will definitely be staying there again.

Ideal for our 1 night stay during half term. Wanted somewhere that was welcoming, comfy, clean, served a good breakfast and was a good base for Windermere and Safari Zoo. Number 19 fit the bill perfectly! We booked the family room and it was perfect for us (1 double and 2 x twin). Hosts were lovely. En-suite room included towels, hair dryer, tv, usb plug sockets, iron and en suite.... not to mention a tasty, full English!

This was our 2nd visit to Number 19 and once again Sophie and Luke excelled. They organise easy access to book in at a time to suit you, offer clean and hygienic rooms at a very reasonable rate as well as breakfasts to die for. The best of the trip though was their friendly personalities. We would not look for anywhere else to stay on future trips to The Lakes. Thank you Sophie and Luke

It had everything we wanted including a gluten free breakfast option upon request and a hairdryer which I wasn't expecting.
The room was lovely and cozy to relax in and watch the TV after a day of travelling. The bed was very comfy and the bathroom was modern and very clean.
Luke and Sophie were very friendly and welcoming as well, they even let us leave one of our bags there after checkout that we picked up after our day at the zoo which really helped us out.
The breakfast was lovely and plenty to fill us up for our day at the zoo. As I'm gluten intolerant I wasn't expecting much for breakfast options but I had just as much food as my gluten eating partner and it was a great start to our day.
The guesthouse was a great location within walking distance of the zoo which was the reason for our stay and also the convenience of being close to the town centre where we ate at Hartley's and got the train home from.
We will definitely stay here again if we return to visit the zoo or anything else nearby.

We stayed the night before a trip to the south lakes zoo. Perfect location, the owners were in contact before hand regarding the key and breakfast - even accommodating our fussy requests. Family room was large and comfortable. We struggled a little with the heat in the room but we did stay on a particularly hot day/night. Room was clean and breakfast delicious. Would certainly recommend to anyone else visiting the zoo.

We came here with our 3 teenagers and had two rooms. The rooms were fresh, clean and had comfortable beds:) The showers were very clean with consistent hot water (which is something that seems rare to find). Sophie and Luke are amazing hosts and know a ton about the Lake District Area. They gave us great tips so that we were able to spend our day well. They also served up one of the most delicious English Breakfasts we (an American family) have ever had!

What a little gem this place is. One of the most comfortable beds I have slept in room was spacious for us and our two children with a great sized bathroom. We stayed for two nights and as we were travelling from Glasgow after work we were later than the 7pm check in but where left clear communication on how to access our room. We were greeted by Sophie and Luke in the morning for a massive full English breakfast which was amazing. Sophie was so knowledgeable about the local area and recommended places for us to visit and eat. The location of the guest house was ideal for the zoo and beaches and we were minutes walk from local restaurants and takeaways. Room was equipt with tea/coffee facilities and towels were a brilliant size couldn't fault anything and would definitely return

We stayed in this B&B for a couple of nights as we wanted to spend a day in the Lake District.
The room had an Ok size but I was very noisy, we could all hear other guests in the nearby rooms chatting and laughing and even when using the bathroom.
I was a bit annoyed by the low-height roof, I hit my head with the beams several times.
The breakfast was very nice, but they should invest in a better exhaust system in the Kitchen.
the beds were very comfortable, and the owners were very friendly and nice.
The location was ok, by there is not much to do in Dalton.
This guesthouse would probably be good enough for a group of young of friends that want to do some booking by the lakes but not so great for families with toddlers.

We really enjoyed our stay at Number 19 Guesthouse. The room was cosy, clean and very comfortable. Lotus Biscoff biscuits in the room were a great touch! The bathroom was big and the water pressure in the shower was great. The best thing about the stay was breakfast- huge portions, cooked just as we requested and delicious! Luke and Sophie were great hosts and we will definitely book again if we are in the same area.

We booked this B&B as a last minute option to travel to the South Lakes Safari Zoo. The hosts were fantastic before we even arrived. They phoned us to check our arrival time and provide us with restaurant recommendations and check in was smooth and covid safe. Comfy, spacious rooms with all you need for a stay. Breakfast was incredible! Would have no hesitation in recommending Number 19 to anybody!

Newcastle-under-Lyme, United Kingdom257 contributions60 helpful votesAre there pubs and restaurants near to the guesthouse?
There are some walking distance away. Good Thai restaurant, pubs and others.
Hi
We stayed as a family of 3 adults. The family room is really good. The 2 singles are great and the sofa bed really sturdy. I would definitely say it would be ideal for a family of 4. The bathroom is also very large
