Second visit to the RO. Again, hugely impressed with the rooms, service, location and price. Easy booking, spacious and well equipped room in quiet part of a hotel. Managerial staff are attentive and friendly. Def recommend

The location from the Royal Oak to Newbury is great, and the prices are competitive with those hotels in Newbury except the Royal Oak offers a homely atmosphere. The room was clean and modern, the food was fantastic and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Stayed in the Blunderbuss room for one night, the rooms are very spacious, with bath and shower, large bed and plenty of wardrobe space. The hotel has free wifi which is good. The bar is excellent, great range of beers, locally produced food, I had the shin beef cottage pie in the evening sitting by the open wood burning fire,...

We just live 2 miles from this hotel and on our thirtieth anniversary decided to slip away to this lovely small country hotel, just for a night. The room had a beautiful four poster bed complete with fine cotton linens, a good coffee machine, a very well appointed bathroom, a small private garden and a gun safe. The full English...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A stunning pub with 10 rooms nestled in the picturesque countryside of West Berkshire, where the pace of life is just that little bit slower. Simple, unfussy, Michelin rated food, ten luxurious bedrooms, award winning real ales, roaring log fires and a quite beautiful walled beer garden await, all within easy access of Newbury, Reading, Heathrow and the M4. We are child friendly, dog friendly and accessible to all. We do hope you love the place as much as we do, and hope you will come and visit us very soon ... more   less
