Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Booked via booking.com to stay as attending nearby venue for works Christmas party.

Free Parking at front and rear of hotel.

Took a while for someone to attend reception to book me in then asked for more money than y booking confirmation. Booked superior twin was given a double. Was just about to get in shower then could see someone trying to get in room, housekeeping asking if I needed a chair for dressing table. Bin in bathroom hadn't been emptied. 1 hand towel in bathroom but none for hair.

Was in room 4 had shower it was really cold water. Was sat in towel combing my hair, someone trying to access room again and it was lady who had checked me in saying I'm in wrong room my room was upstairs, told her I'm in towel and had unpackagedeverything said doesn't matter she needs this room. I had to pack fast and luckily friend arrived to help carry my stuff to room. Was told similar surname,my name is very unusual so poor excuse and not dealt with very well.

Got in correct room, again no towels for washing hair, corridors smelt like dirty oil.

Free WiFi code and door code for entering hotel late.

Datedrooms but ok for my reason to stay other than the messing around.

Not the best welcome on arrival.

Shower in room 22 was much hotter and better.

Wouldn't look to return but not a bad price for a night's stay.

Dated furniture and both chairs in each room need re-covering or replacing.

Basically it's a brasserie/bistro with rooms.

Visited this hotel recently As we need some where central to where our daughter lives.
Hotel us central un balsall common 2 min walk from all shops.
Reception was safe with plastic screen suspended from ceiling alcohol gel available to, quick efficient check in.
Room was clean however a little tired looking bathroom needs some tlc. However bed was comfortable for good nights sleep.
We did not eat In restaurant so unable to comment.
Staff served us drinks as bar had not really opened up properly .
Staff are very friendly and efficient.
Car parking available at front and rear of property.
Breakfast was cooked to order and was tasty and staff very friendly and attentive. Possibly salt in pepper in packets would be better for infection control measures and staff wearing face shields would also be safer.

We ordered takeaway Sunday lunch - a wide selection is available to collect. You then heat at home. Top marks for the delicious main courses, especially the range of vegetables. Desserts were more variable, but the pancakes with sauce were a highlight. The only drawback was the large number of plastic boxes involved.

My wife & I paid extra & booked a "superior" room & whilst it was somewhat dated & a little scruffy it was okay, that is until we entered the bathroom. The shelf above the toilet & sink had partly collapsed & there was a half inch gap around it. Some tiles were cracked & the sealant around the sink & toilet where they met the floor had been applied extremely roughly, obviously not done by a tradesman as it was so shoddy. The toilet only half flushed, possibly there was a brick in the system to save water, but if so it didn't work because it had to be flushed twice on every use. The shower didn't work as it was lukewarm at best, despite pulling the separate cord to switch it on, so we had to use the bath. We decided to stay as the bedroom was adequate & the hotel has several eating establishments & convenience shops just around the corner, free parking & the wi-fi was okay. The first two nights were okay & it was quiet & we got a good nights sleep, but for the last two nights some people with dogs moved into the room next door & they were noisy, & someone moved into the room above us & whilst the person wasn't nosy, the floorboards creaked & we were woken up early both mornings by them. Throughout the hotel the doors banged - this could easily be solve by fitting soft closures to them. There were no coat hooks in the room, again easily solved in a few minutes. The hotel seems to get good reviews for the dining, of which we didn't partake, & it's such a shame as with a bit of attention (by tradesman not DIY owners) it could be made so much better as it is very well situated (only 5 minutes drive to the NCC. Having spent four nights here we moved to a Premier Inn just up the road & it was so, so much better.

This last weekend our families stayed for our Son and his Fiancé wedding, the family and staff at the hotel were so helpful and breakfast was cooked beautifully and hot. So all our needs were met before and after the wedding, was a great base for us all. The rooms were comfortable and lovely and clean. It was so good to accommodate all our family and friends at this hotel, made final preparations for us all so easy.

I arranged an overnight stay for a coach party of 23 French people on our way to Scotland as well as on our way back and everybody was so happy with the rooms and even more with the meals (dinner and breakfast).
It was actually our second visit as we had had an overnight in 2010 too and each time we had a very warm welcome. Moreover we can say that the rates are very good value.

I think this is the third or forth time here with friends (16 of us!) evening meal overnight and breakfast. It s not expensive or the Ritz but what you get is honest service food and accomodation. The bar is incredibly well stocked when larger places carry rubbish beer and mediocre wine and the food is exceptional quality and value.

WELL DONE HAIGS

Excellent Sunday Lunch, with very wide choice menu, delicious ingredients, beautifully cooked, presented well and served by very pleasant staff. All the little touches make such a difference. Every table occupied and easy to see regular customers.

This is a small friendly clean hotel, I choose to stay here every time I visit family in Coventry. I am always given the same room, where there is a comfy bed, bottled water, tea/coffee making facility and biscuits. I haven’t tried the breakfast but have sat in the lovely garden with a gin and tonic! It’s a really lovely place to stay and very good value. I always feel safe staying there alone.

According to my online map which I put both post/zip codes in, the shortest distance is 10.1 miles taking 34 minutes and the shortest time 28 minutes (although I would not personally go that way as it involves the M6.motorway which can be prone to delays at any time).

Berkswell Station is nearest at 0.7 miles away, around 15 minutes walk but I'm not sure whether all trains stop there. Birmingham International Station is about 5 miles away according to the Haigs hotel's own website.
