Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I arranged an overnight stay for a coach party of 23 French people on our way to Scotland as well as on our way back and everybody was so happy with the rooms and even more with the meals (dinner and breakfast). It was actually our second visit as we had had an overnight in 2010 too and each time we had a very warm welcome. Moreover we can say that the rates are very good value.

We very much enjoyed our stay with you. We booked a superior double and were allocated room 18. A little dated but great to have both a shower and a bath. Nice toiletries also. Bed comfortable but the weather was very hot so did not sleep well. Breakfast was very good also. If we had one complaint it would please put a handrail on the few staits leading to room 18. Very tricky to negotiate them with a new knee earlier this year. All in all would not hesitate to recommend Haigs.

Looking forward to a shower, but no good. Temperature was either scalding or freezing cold. We had a mysterious puddle form around the toilet at night, so we were paddling in this. Bedlinen didn't seem to be that clean. Won't be staying here again

Excellent Sunday Lunch, with very wide choice menu, delicious ingredients, beautifully cooked, presented well and served by very pleasant staff. All the little touches make such a difference. Every table occupied and easy to see regular customers.

Just returned from a 2 night stay booked through booking.com We wanted a hotel as a base whilst visiting the NEC. I would ordinarily book a Premier Inn, but on this occasion decided to try out a privately run hotel. Location is excellent, it's a 10 minute drive to the NEC. The room and bathroom were of a good size. I booked a superior double, which had a sofa, perfect for relaxing after a long day. The room was lovely and warm, with a thermostat to turn the radiator up or down. The decor was dated. It had been generally cleaned but needed more attention to detail (dirty grouting in the shower, dust along the top of the tiles etc) The mattress was very hard, with a dip on one side I don't think it was the best quality. Our biggest complaint however would be the shower. No matter how much we moved the dial or left the water to run, it never reached more than lukewarm!! We travel a lot, and no matter if we stay in a 5 star or 2 star accommodation, our basic expectations are..cleanliness, a comfortable bed and a decent shower. Unfortunately Haigs failed to deliver.

All four of us really enjoyed our lunches. The service was pleasant although a little slow but with good company that really didn’t matter.Looking forward to going again with a group of friends. The restaurant was really packed as it always is in Sundays as the lunch is really good value.

I think this is the third or forth time here with friends (16 of us!) evening meal overnight and breakfast. It s not expensive or the Ritz but what you get is honest service food and accomodation. The bar is incredibly well stocked when larger places carry rubbish beer and mediocre wine and the food is exceptional quality and value. WELL DONE HAIGS

I often stay here for work and I've always enjoyed the service, standards and quality of the food in the restaurant. The team are friendly, they always make you feel welcome. The restaurant should also be commended for how enjoyable the food is and how the menu is always fresh. I'll definitely be coming again and again.
