We arrived to check in at 4:30 which was fine, were welcomed by a really nice man who took payment and gave us our key. We came down at about 6 expecting a carvery that was on the website, but were told that was only run 12-3. So we then couldn't order anything until 6:30, but the food we had...

An idea location if you are travelling around Oxfordshire, without the hustle and bustle. A good menu and tasty dinner. The rooms are well kept and a comfortable bed, morning breakfast was soon demolished to set you up for the day.

Not an enjoyable experience at all. As soon as we checked the barman asked for a credit card. Normally he would say something like “for incidental charges”. But no he said “I need a card in case you cause any damage to the room you are staying in”. Really never heard that one before. I am sure we looked really...

We stayed at the Chequers on Friday night after a trip to Blenheim Palace.Very good value for money, room basic but clean, excellent evening meal, breakfast was the best we've ever had. There was a lovely roaring fire in the pub.Only negative being the drinks are slightly overpriced.Would stay again.

Nice rib eye steak. Good value for Oxford. prices. Breakfast quality and service 1st class. Door to room 4 a little sticky and window frames affected by condensation. 4G worked, didn't try free Wi-Fi. Not overly busy and beer was good

It's when you stop at a pub on the way somewhere needing a break. The staff say you have 15 minutes. Then they clear up around you, generally make you feel unwelcome and can't wait till you leave the building. Better not to take the money for the drink. Wish we hadn't stopped there.

Arrived in evening, check in smooth and trouble free. Good dinner in the bar - pie of the day - pleasant service, before going up for the evening. Room clean and spacious but sleep not great due to combination of a very uncomfortable mattress and being able to hear lots of noise from outside and what I think was a...

Very clean and pleased with quality of room. Our children had a twin room and we had a double room. Fairly small bathroom but it was adequate and overall it was well furnished. Bed was comfortable. Meal that evening was well cooked and very nice. Breakfast the following morning was good and overall we enjoyed the stay and would have...

We stayed for one night for Countryfile Live and were pleased with the staff, room and food. Our room (2) was good with lots of drawer space and a reasonable on suite, the towels were lovely, soft and new. Breakfast was great even Marmite and a choice of teas. One drawback was because it is old the floors creak, so...

The young lady who checked us in was a bit clueless about the facilities. Our room was on the small side but that said it was clean. We dined in and I was disappointed in my choice which was a goats cheese salad with pear and honeyed walnuts - the pear and walnuts were missing and had been replaced by...
