This was our second time on the island, marked by a plaque with our names outside the villa – a lovely touch. Makunudu remains a haven of tranquillity with no television and just low key music in the bar. It’s a place to relax on the beach or in the water: the house reef is easy to reach for snorkelling,...

Well, Makunudu itself is wonderful although you need to be wary of strong currents and the actual lagoon Is very large so getting out to the reef is difficult in some places. Choose leeward side - it's beautiful. Rooms 3,4,5 and 6 are best in our opinion. More private, protected from winds, and better access to the reef. The food...

My family (two adults, one 17 year old) just returned from a 5 night stay on Makunudu Island. We were very very impressed with the natural beauty of the island and the warmth and hospitality of the staff there. We would all recommend it and will surely return. Our room was quite nice and appeared newly renovated (and the bed...

We stayed in Makunudu this early October. Small but cozy island left for us warm and pleasant memories. The service was amazing, food delicious ( specially we loved fish!), smiley staff were very helpful and tried to delight every guest. (Asfan, our room provided a great service). As we had early arrival, our villa was available before check in time,...

We have visited 3 islands in the Maldives always aiming for small or fairly small places with good house reef - Makunudu fits the bill. 36 villas in all set in 18 semi-detatched (o. r link detatched) pairs around the island. Initially slightly worried about being a semi- we were pleasantly surprised by these rooms as they felt detatched, only...

I visited Makunudu early October 2016. At night I saw night sky with full of beautiful stars While taking the speed boat to the island from the airport. I love the island for its greenery and peacefulness. The staff was friendly and attentive. The diving sites are just nearby where one can spot sea turtles and many other marine lives.

We visited Makunudu in 2014 before the refurbishments. The rooms have been tastefully upgraded with soft close furniture plus a new bed and bedding. The furniture has also been upgraded. Some small changes in the bathroom but not a complete overhaul, which I'm sure will come in time. There is also complimentary wi fi available in the rooms, reception and...

Although Makunudo has been around for over 30 years it's hasn't become a tourist trap and even to this day maintains its roots in Maldivian charm and culture. You won't find water bungalows, hundreds of people thronging around or masses of watersports on this island but what you will find is peace, tranquility and heaps of fantastic service from the...
