Greendale is a tranquil, peaceful and very friendly adults-only campsite. The site has 12 pitches (all hard-standing with electric hook-ups). The heated shower and toilet block is very clean and well looked-after. The shop has local information, maps, local products and essentials. Set in beautiful Rutland countryside between Oakham and Melton Mowbray. You will be 6 miles from Rutland Water and 15 minutes walk from Whissendine village, with a great dog-friendly pub, post-office and general store. Greendale welcomes those looking for a peaceful break with their caravans, motor-homes, tents or camper-vans. Friendly well-behaved dogs are also very welcome.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a lovely quiet campsite. Alan and Jaqi, the owners, are lovely people who will go to great lengths to please their customers. There are lots of birds to be seen from your pitch if you sit quietly, as there are several bird feeders hanging up. Good folders of information on walks and cycle rides can be found in the little shop, which is nicely stocked. The White Lion in Whissendine village is well worth a visit for a drink and food. A little gem of a site, that we will revisit soon.

Our forth visit - second time this year. It’s just perfect - incredibly peaceful, very well maintained and the pitches are well laid out, Alan and Jacqui are very helpful and friendly. The pool was great on a warm day and it’s a 20 min walk down to the pub. We visited the village shop a few times and we used the bus this time to reach Oakham, rather than take the car.

We had booked a different site at Greetham, however my wife saw this site on the internet and we decided to take a chance and change our booking to Greendale. What a brilliant decision. Alan even rang us whilst we were travelling to let us know that our pitch was clear if we wanted to arrive early. Nothing was too much trouble, the site is kept impecably and the facilities are all top class. Testament to our appreciation of the site is that after a day, we have booked a return visit for next year. We cannot recommend this site enough. Thank you Alan & Jaqi

A small (12 pitch) adult only, dog friendly gem of a site located close to a nice pub that serves lovely food and the towns of Melton Mowbray and Oakham. This site ticks every box - clean and superbly maintained. Alan & Jacqui are superb hosts. Showers are always hot and the facilities are excellent. This was our second stay and we will definitely be going back next summer. We wouldn’t consider going anywhere else

This site ticked all our boxes..adults only, dog friendly and small! We absolutely loved it. Alan and Jaqui are perfect hosts, and have pretty much everything covered. Very environmentally conscious, plenty of recycling bins. The verges outside the camp are cut in order for dogs to be walked. The facilities are spotless, and the gardens are very pretty, with dummy wasp nests and bird feeders. All the other guests made a point of coming and saying “hello”. The only views are rolling fields. A short walk to Whissendine, a nice meal in the White Lion, also dog friendly. Short drive from Oakham.

This was our second visit to this wonderful site. The whole site is in immaculate condition and it is a pleasure to stay there. The owners are lovely and work very hard to ensure that all visitors have a great holiday. There is a good pub 15 mins walk away and Rutland Water is a 15 min drive. We have already booked for 2024!

Brilliant site. Thanks to Alan, Jacque & Nigel. Such a well kept site with so many friendly guests staying. The facilities are so clean, all that you need & a big plus a big dog paddling pool for our two Labradors. Did I mention all the extras that make life so much easier when you’re away from home. We will be back

Our third visit, and as expected - fabulous! We had another lovely stay - thank you! The site is really quiet - with the exception of the birds and the sheep in the neighbouring field - which we loved. It is exceptionally well maintained and looked lovely with all the flowers and shrubs. Toilet block was always spotless - it’s small, but perfectly adequate, and even when the site was full there was never an issue in getting a shower. The pool area is also well maintained and great in the warmer weather. Dogs are welcomed - walks are a plenty in the local area - especially down the lane to the pub. Jacqui & Alan are super hosts to all and take pride in their work.
