Historic from outside, partly modern from inside. Got all it needs: Decent breakfast buffet, Wifi, TV, functional bath rooms, good heating and cosy beds. If you need to stay in Mosbach it's a solid choice for small money.

We booked this hotel as it is in the town square. The hotel is clean and tidy and non smoking in the main. However, we did notice that during the evening private guests of the owner(s) were smoking in the restuarant. The hotel was refurbished in 2013 to quite a high standard, the stairs though are very uneven and have to be negotiated carefully. There is WiFi but it didn't work for us for some reason, free or paid. This is a non english speaking hotel so be ready for that if you don't understand German. Some english is spoken by one of the employees but if they are not there you will have to communicate in 'sign' There is an Information Centre located in the square where english is spoken which helps greatly. Car parking is available at 7 euros a day which is from 08.00 to 18.00, free outside of those hours. you can buy a monthly ticket for 45 euros which depending on your length of stay may be better for you as putting a ticket on your car each morning before 08.00 can be a bit of a pain, the nearest car park is a 5 minute walk away. There are some great places to eat: Bella Italia, lovely Itailian food. Mosbacher Brauhaus, proper steak house within in the grounds of the local brewery. Taverna Mythos, Greek food cooked to order and Ratskeller, mainly Italian but there are other dishes on the menu. Mosbach as a town is fantastic, we spoke to many locals, especially in the bar next door. Hans the landlord is very helpfull as are the regulars. We spent some very happy hours in there and met some great people.. We would definetly visit Mosbach again but probaly choose another hotel.

Hotel in very old house, but with modern repair inside. It has very cozier ambiance. One minus clock outside on Town Hall. It was unexpected to hear the chimes every 15 minutes during the night. But inspite of it the nights was very comfortable. And mornings with delicious breakfasts!

We had a great stay in this historic hotel (built in 1600's) hotel is in the middle of town near town square a short walk from the train, S1 Bahn. We found very reasonable price online booked before we arrived.Had a top floor accommodation with bedroom plus sitting room. No elevator and narrow stairs but that added to the charm. Additional cost for breakfast. Walking distance to everything. Hour train ride to Heidelberg. Overall very good. Easier if you speak some German.

I can't say anything about the town of Mosbach as I used the town as a base to visit other locations, but the Hotel Schwanen in der City was very pleasant and well worth the money. The hotel is in the center of a pedestrian area about 5-8 minutes walk from parking. I arrived after 8:00 and had a moment of panic as the reception was locked and there was no obvious doorbell to press, but the landlady must have been looking out for me because she soon waved me in. I find breakfast prices in European hotels to be simply outrageous, so I skipped it. There are at least 2 bakeries nearby that offer cheaper options. While the stairs are a bit worn and crooked as befitting a centuries old building, the room itself was very clean, modern and comfortable. I would stay here again.

This hotel was one of the prettiest I've stayed in. We had a lovely half-timbered hotel room on the top floor with a view of the Marktplatz to die for. It was hot when we were there, so we had to keep the windows open and hear the church bells all night long. While my earplugs didn't completely block out the noise, the location and facilities made it worth it. And, when the weather is a bit cooler (most of the year in Germany!), it would have been no problem. Breakfast (8.50 per person) was delightful and worth it. The only reason I do not give it a 5/5 is due to the church bells, but there's not a place in town that you could escape it, and it shouldn't deter your visit!

I stayed one night when passing through on business. I arrived on Saturday in time to enjoy a farmer's market just on the square by the Schwanen. The lady who ran the hotel was very accommodating, and made me an awesome huge salad as I requested along with Hungarian Goulash all presented in a lovely way. She had the help wash and press my clothes for a small additional charge. My single room was kind of plain, but very clean and tidy, and bathroom very clean. The building is about 400+ years old. Breakfast was a classic German breakfast. This town is a very lovely place to wander through, having some buildings that are dated as old as 1585 above the doorway, where many are thus marked.

Great large room, loved the shower and water pressure. Owner is so sweet, she did a load of laundry for me for no charge (not sure she typically does this for guests but she did for me) lovely breakfast with fresh fruit and the best cappichinos around (plus the owner made me eggs anyway I wanted). Loved the style of the hotel and the view of the marketplace. The only thing is the churchbells ring quite frequently so if you want it super quiet, just know the bells are there. It's an older hotel so just know it's not totally modern but that's what I liked about it. There wasn't a safe in the room but the owner told me it is very safe there and she was right, no problems at all. I would stay here again and am glad I chose this hotel over another one I was considering.

The reception by the owner of was very friendly. She offered to show us the three-person suite to see if it was to our liking and soon after we got some complimentary bottled water and juice in the room (# 7, a large two-room suite, with a couple of easy chairs, a couch and a fold-out bed). One of the staff was sent out to get some brochures from the nearby tourist office! The hotel is housed in a centuries-old building, which gives it a lot of character. Fresh flowers add to the ambiance. The bed was fine, bathroom o.k., the size of the suite just perfect. All the double rooms are spacious too. Room prices are reasonable. Although the hotel offers dining (reserve in advance), the owner willingly tells you where in town you can have good German or foreign food. And last but not least: the (Hungarian) owner serves a great buffet breakfast (not included in the room price) with cheeses, cold meats, fresh fruit, juices, any kind of tea or coffee you want and all sorts of bread.

Located in a half-timbered house in the center of the Old Town in Mosbach, this hotel has character to spare. Our room was clean and spacious, with an up-to-date bathroom, and a great view of the Market Square. The owner was friendly and breakfast offered a high-quality selection of choices typical of European hotels. While I would stay at this hotel again, given the chance, there are a couple of points that I felt I should make for full disclosure: -Since the hotel is located in one of Mosbach's historic half-timbered houses, there are a few things that come along with a building of that vintage, including squeaky floors (in some spots), and a winding, uneven staircase. Neither one of these were big issues, in my opinion. -The owner does not speak English. Again, this was not a big issue, but is something people should be prepared for.
