  • The Monkey Sanctuary
Support a charity and visit Wild Futures’ Monkey Sanctuary, offering a safe haven for monkeys since 1964. The Monkey Sanctuary cares for a range of different species of rescued monkeys, giving visitors an intimate insight into a working sanctuary and a chance to meet some of its amazing monkey residents. The Monkey Sanctuary is home to over 35 individuals; many of them rescued from conditions of abuse and neglect and each one with their distinct characters and personalities. As we are a sanctuary home to rescued monkey that sadly have suffered as a direct result of being kept as a pet, the needs of the monkeys always take priority. Therefore some areas of the sanctuary are not accessible by our visitors so as to give the monkeys the time they need to recover and progress physically, emotionally and socially. The monkeys get fed almost every hour throughout the day, so visitors should be able to watch individuals enjoying a snack or hanging out with their friends!

  • East Looe Beach
The beach in East Looe sits directly in front of the old town, sheltered from the west by the famous Banjo Pier and overlooked from the east by the hillside of Mount Ararat. Owned and maintained by East Looe Town Trust, East Looe beach is a good family beach that has something for everyone. At low tide there is a large gently sloping sandy beach which is generally safe for swimming, although it is always recommended to check the weather and water quality conditions. The beach backs on to the promenade that runs the length of the beach all the way to ‘Second Beach’ just to the east. The rock / sand beach here is a great spot to get away from the crowds and good for snorkelling. The main beach is closed to dogs however you are welcome to allow your dogs to enjoy the Second Beach. The promenade itself has plenty of benches to sit and relax on, and beautiful flowerbeds that are maintained by Looe in Bloom all year round. On our promenade you will also find a free water refill station.

  • Old Guildhall Museum & Gaol
Temp closed The Museum is now closed until Spring 2024. We look forward to seeing you in 2024 when can see our new displays. The 15th Century listed Ancient Museum has a fascinating display of Looe’s history, including Looe Governance, boat building and smuggling. The building itself is a marvellous exhibit as it retains many of its 550 years old original features with ancient cells (with prisoners) and the very old, raised magistrates bench complete with the Royal Coat of Arms. As you walk into the upper floor, you are entering the room which, from 1587 to 1878, was the East Looe Town Hall & Magistrates Court. Beneath the magnificent timber-framed roof, laws were made and enforced and the town was administered by the Mayor and Corporation, known as Burgesses.

  • Talland Church
Set beside the South West Coast footpath, between Looe & Polperro, Talland Church is a place of peace & tranquility. TALLAND CHURCH as we see it today was not built to serve a large community but to maintain a holy site where the Christian faith had been established some 1500 years ago. The three Lancet Windows in the West Wall date the present church to the 13th century and much of the old woodwork & carved pews remained unspoiled by religious changes. For more about our Church at Talland, its history & characters and help with ancestral research please visit our website. We cannot guarantee winter opening of the Church building but if you are making a special trip to Talland Church please email in advance to ensure the building is open. The Churchyard and grounds are open all year. Thank you, enjoy your visit.
