    OPEN FRIDAY 10am-4pm, SATURDAY 10am-4pm, SUNDAY 12-4pm (Weather Permitting) LAST ENTRY 3pm. Children get free entry and must be supervised by an adult at all times. Montrose was Great Britain’s first operational military airfield, established by the Royal Flying Corps in February 1913. The museum aims to show the human side of the Air Station's past with a collection of contemporary photographs, artefacts and memorabilia. These not only tell of the history of the airfield but also the story of those who served here and those who lived in the area. It is an independent, accredited museum run entirely by volunteers. Aircraft include a Panavia Tornado GR4, a Hawker Hunter F1, a Gloster Meteor and a de Havilland Sea Vampire. There is also a full-size replica Supermarine Spitfire MkVb and our volunteers have built amazing full-size replicas of a WWI B.E.2a and a Sopwith Camel, the only ones in Scotland.

Highlights include telescopes, binoculars and live footage of migratory birds. Children will love the interactive toys, games and puzzles. Children's activities and themed events are held regularly, as well as formal and informal educational groups run throughout the year.
