We encourage you to sit and soak up the atmosphere in Blackwell’s fireplace inglenooks, which have fine examples of tiles by Arts & Crafts designer William de Morgan. The inviting window seats offer stunning views of the surrounding Lake District scenery. You can appreciate the house as it was originally intended, without roped-off areas. Blackwell retains many of its original decorative features, including a rare hessian wall-hanging in the Dining Room, leaf-shaped door handles, curious window catches, spectacular plasterwork, stained glass and carved wooden panelling by Simpsons of Kendal. The rooms contain furniture and objects by many of the leading Arts and Crafts designers and studios.

A gallery of award winning images made in the beautiful and dramatic Lake District National Park. They include mountains, lakes, villages, Herdwick sheep and Highland cows. There are over 130 different pictures on display all availble in sizes from A4 upto several meters long, all offered framed or unframed. Hand crafted gifts are also available.

The Old Laundry Theatre is a 270 seat theatre-in-the-round situated in Bowness-on-Windermere, and a thriving cultural hub for residents and visitors to the Lake District. Over the past two decades, the Old Laundry has welcomed a host of famous names from Alan Carr and Jenny Eclair to Victoria Wood and Sue Perkins. And along with an impressive star-studded list of trustees, husband and wife Roger Glossop and Charlotte Scott name one of the country's most famous playwrights as the inspiration behind the theatre's creation: "We wouldn't be where we are now without Alan Ayckbourn's support, he gave us the confidence to open the theatre and its success is down to him".
