An 800 year old Castle that boasts incredible views of the whole East coast of Guernsey and across to the other islands of Herm, Sark and Alderney. Steeped in history that includes the English Civil War and the German Occupation during the Second World War. There are four museums: The Story of Castle Cornet; 201 Squadron Museum; RGLI Museum and Militia Museum. There is a free tour at 10.30 on most days and a daily noon-day gun firing of a 32 pound cannon by a gunner dressed in the traditional 19th century redcoat of the Royal Guernsey Militia. Ideal for families there are free castle trails and activities. A cafe selling refreshments and light lunches and a gift shop selling a wide range of gifts and souvenirs will complete your visit.

This was the headquarters of the German Naval Commander of the Channel Islands during WWII. The Signals HQ handled all the important radio signals traffic for the German Forces during the Occupation. The bunker complex was completed in 1944 and housed powerful communication equipment and Enigma enciphering machines. Over half the complex has been restored to its wartime appearance with original fixtures, fittings, objects and equipment.

Candie Gardens is a beautiful 19th Century garden in the heart of St Peter Port with spectacular views over the harbour and neighbouring islands. The site also includes a café, a museum and art galleries (Guernsey Museum at Candie)and a research library (the Priaulx Library). Entry to the gardens and library is free, there is a small charge for the museum and art galleries.

The Guernsey Tapestry is a fantastic way to understand the complex history of the islands. Ten panels (all stitched by locals to celebrate the Millenium) beautifully explain the events of each century. An easy to use and understand audio guide adds to the experience (available in English, French and German). Guernsey Museum at Candie is a small, award-winning museum set in beautiful public gardens in St. Peter Port. We have a permanent exhibition of the early history of Guernsey and artworks from the museum collection. Our three other galleries house varied, non-permanent exhibits and displays (please see our website or Facebook page for up-to-date information). Our gift shop is well stocked with local gifts and souvenirs, locally produced art, cards, toys and confectionary. We also sell a large selection of local books both fiction and non-fiction. We have a café on site serving meals, snacks and drinks and a dedicated space for young visitors called the Discovery Room.
