Strongly recommend especially if you are interested in history.
I have visited the SS Great Britain three times. The first time was shortly after it became open to the public, the second time some 30 years ago. The ship now is now even more interesting than it was with an excellent museum. It is probably best to arrive early before the crowds arrive. Strongly recommend especially if you are interested in history.

    Fascinating!
Great place to visit, children would love it too. Amazing displays and I really liked walking around the site, has a good atmosphere. Don't be put off by the admission price, it is well worth the money. Lots of things to do and interact with.

So much to see and experience to keep you entertained aboard the SS Great Britain.
I particularly enjoyed visiting the SS Great Britain, Brunel's ship that is in permanent dry dock. There is a small museum full of original parts of the ship and containing information on the recovery and restoration of the ship before it came back to Bristol. There is a stair case and disability lift that takes from street level to the base of the ship which is fully enclosed and climate controlled for preservation reasons. You can walk all the way around the hull. Afterwards you can access the deck and even find your way into the heart of the ship where you will discover how the ship's crew, passengers and cargo spent their time at sea. There are mannequins, artificial smells and audio to keep you entertained.

    Great family day out
Excellent day out with the family, I didn’t realise you can go under the dry dock to see the hull of the ship and then 3 floors of the ship. Good interactive and interesting info about the ship, passengers, design, etc. Great for children (we had ages 10, 7, 6 and 3 with us) as there are things to operate and play with and inside the ship things like the kitchen, cabins, dining room etc are really brought to life with mannequins, sounds, lights, etc. Huge engine which moves around. It really gives you an idea of what it would have been like to be aboard as a passenger – a real divide between first class and steerage!

    Lovely experience
Loved being able to explore all of the ship including underneath and the sympathetic way it had been restored to show separate eras. Museum areas well laid out with lots of personal stories bringing it to life. Friendly informative guides - volunteered lots of interesting information. Spent 2.5 hours there. Cost was £22 but can return within the next year.

A great fun day out. Please update the car park pay meters!
SS Great Britain is a really good visit for all the family. The ship is beautifully displayed to look as if it's floating on the water but in fact is in dry dock and when you walk underneath it you really get the perspective of the sheer scale and power of the vessel. There's lots of interesting displays in the museum and the ship is cleverly and humorously displayed. Our junior member was keen to come back and climb the rigging! There's also a nice cafe with lovely river views alongside and a shop with things you actually want to buy and clean spacious toilets. My only complaint - and they may well not have any power over this - is the Car Park. You can only pay with COINS or by downloading the App - why oh why is there no facility just to pay by card? If not for this, the trip would get all 5 Stars!

    Very very very good
This was one of the best museum I have ever done ! No matter the price, it really worths it and I can come back within the next 12 months for free, as there is a lot to take I’ll definitely pay an other visit. But the best of all was Harry one of the museum assistant ! He showed me around the place ( which I was probably going to miss out!) and explained me a bunch of stuff about the conservation and all the processes to save the boat. This encounter made my visit even more interesting. Thanks 🙏
Thank you for the 5-star rating and lovely review, we’re so pleased you enjoyed your day out! Thank you so much for your feedback about Harry, we’ll be sure to pass that on. We hope to see you on board again soon. 🎩

Amazing trip , cafe price ridiculous
Excellent brilliant to see and the kids loved how interactive and interesting it was. Incredible ship absolutely massive , lovely staff. Only major downside was the cafe very very expensive for a family of 4 lunch was overly priced we felt by over £15 - exact same choices at the aerospace museum with viewing Concorde was literally half price . My husband and I shared a sandwich yesterday the bill came to over £35 astronomical amount for one sandwich, a kids meal, bowl of chips, 2 teas, can of water and kids apple juice. Utter rip off Shame as it let down the experience as the ship was amazing - cafes prices need to be massively re considered

    Excellent attraction
This is a very interesting and engaging museum even if you aren't particularly interested in historic ships or have ever heard of Brunel before coming to Bristol. It's fun to explore the interior of the ship and to learn about the history of the ship and about Brunel in the museums. Tickets are good for a year so if you miss something one day (I didn't give myself enough time the first day, not expecting so much besides the ship itself) you can come back later. The gift shop has a wide array of souvenirs that should have something for everybody.
Thank you for the 5-star rating and lovely review. We’re so pleased you enjoyed your day out and had fun exploring the ship and museums! Hope to see you on board again soon. 🎩

    Fantastic day out
Fantastic day out. Lots to see and do with a huge variety of exhibits- traditional museum type, interactive computers, models, smells, sounds, dressing up- all well maintained. Something for everyone. Really well presented living history. In addition, staff are engaging and helpful. Food was delicious with a good variety. Everything was clean and well maintained. I honestly can't speak highly enough of this place. Highly recommended.
Thank you for the 5-star rating and lovely review! We’re so pleased you enjoyed your day out and food! Hope to see you on board again soon. 🎩

  • Clifton Observatory and Caves Hotels
The Clifton Observatory and Caves sits above the Avon Gorge offering superb views of the Clifton Suspension Bridge and the city of Bristol. The Observatory houses one of the only camera obscuras still open to the public in the UK. Originally built as a windmill for corn in 1766, the mill was later taken over by William West in 1828 who then converted the building into his own artist studio and installed the camera obscura, which is still working today. The camera offers a panoramic view of the surrounding area including the Clifton Suspension Bridge, Avon Gorge & Clifton Downs. During his time at the Observatory West also cut an underground passage to the Giant's Cave which was originally only accessible via the cliff face. After a short descent into the cave guests can enjoy the spectacular views along the Avon Gorge and Clifton Suspension Bridge. The Observatory is open to visitors 7 days a week from 10am - 5pm in Spring/Summer and 10am-4pm in Autumn/Winter with last entry being 15 minutes before closing time.
