    Delightful quay
Beautiful Quay with some nice pubs and interesting craft stalls set inside the walls alongside the Quay. There are local glassware stalls and woodcraft. There are pedalos and kayaking. Very nice atmosphere

    A quaint quay
A clean quay with plenty of good craft shops with unique gifts to buy. Also the choice of pubs, restaurants and cafes around on both sides of the quay. An accessible bridge or 50p ferry to cross over the water. A pleasant couple of hours could be spent here.

    The Fire Tree
I cannot recommend this unique shop highly enough. The owner Steph was incredible to work with and helped me to create a beautiful memorial board. Steph went out of her way to help me design something beautiful which was finished to an extremely high standard. If you are looking for something personal and affordable then please don’t hesitate to visit this shop by Exeter Quay!

A lovely historic part of the city
We spent some time at the Quay when in Exeter recently. A very pleasant place to stroll around, maybe have a drink or some food. It is a very historic part of town and can get very busy. Nice to sit there and imagine how it was when the Vikings arrived up the River Exe or when William The Conqueror came to town . The place sure has seen some history. Plenty of shops to browse, a must part of town to visit .

    Brilliant Quayside Cafe
Lovely feel to the place and especially a fantastic meal at the Quayside Cafe. I had a knockout homemade steak pie and mushy peas, followed by great fruit cake and washed down with a smooth cappuccino. Great choice of music playing in the background. Perfect!

    Shame on the council.
Very pleasant area, nice pubs and cafe's along the quay, also little craft workshops. Very small disabled carpark which was full so we parked in the multi storey close by. Unfortunately the multi storey had an almost overwhelming smell of pi** which left us both gagging ( Shame on you Exeter council). The walk to the quay from their was easy except for the last stretch which was all cobblestones, very authentic I know but not easy on a small mobility scooter although my wife did remark with a smile that she hadn't come that way before.

  • Underground Passages Hotels
Dating from 14th century, these medieval passages under Exeter High Street are a unique ancient monument: no similar system of passages can be explored by the public elsewhere in Britain. The Passages have long exercised a fascination over local people, with stories of wars and sieges, plague and pestilence! Their purpose was simple: to bring clean drinking water from natural springs in fields lying outside the walled city, through lead pipes into the heart of the city. The pipes sometimes sprang leaks and repairs to buried pipes could only be carried out by digging them up as we do today. To avoid this disruption the passages were vaulted and it is down some of these vaulted passageways that visitors are guided. The Passages are dark and narrow with a fascinating history. Visitors can experience interactive and educational exhibits in the Underground Passages Heritage Centre and watch a short video presentation before their guided tour.
