- John R3 contributionsFantastic day outGreat day out!! Our elephant encounter was fantastic!! You need to book any animal encounters in advance,on top of your park entry but well worth it. The staff were all fantastic and really helpful. Dom who hosted our elephant encounter was very friendly and informative and gave us a great experience. Shout outs to him, Ersin and Archie who are all fantastic ambassadors for Howletts. Thanks all for a fantastic day!!Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 October 2023
- rob a75 contributionsCool animals but not many activities. This wildlife park has only got four star because of its animals. There are amazing animals to look at but there aren't many things to do otherwise. I went with my wife and two kids and had a lovely time- but can be boring if you have finished looking at the animals. Great for kids from 6-13 I'd say.Visited May 2023Travelled with familyWritten 27 October 2023
- Jade A1 contributionEpic Day - Best Experience of my Life!Absolutely fantastic experience! Even though, it was raining, it did not spoil the experience as animals that usually do not make an appearance, were out. This includes the Leopards. Also, paid to have a Wild Dog Encounter, which was worth the money, along with a Tiger encounter. The tiger encounter was amazing and I would do it again. The keepers were friendly and accommodating. When asking questions about disabled accessibility for animal encounters they were very helpful and want to ensure that you receive the full experience.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 October 2023
- Wine wine wine2 contributionsGorilla experienceSuch an amazing experience from arrival to leaving. Friendly staff greeting at the reception. My dad had gorilla experience booked for his birthday they were aware we were coming. Park is full of lots of amazing well kept animals. My dad really enjoyed the gorilla experience the keeper was informative and friendly. Dad was able to get up close and personal with the gorillas and help with feeding while being educated on their lives. He sends the keeper a big thank you for the experience and care showed during the visit. While walking around the zoo we got the opportunity to hold an ostrich egg and chat to the keeper about the animals. She was really friendly and didn’t mind being asked questions. Thank you for spending time with us. Highly highly recommended this place great families. Amazing staff.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 10 November 2023
- AbiExeter, United Kingdom46 contributionsExpansive, fun, and friendlyWe visited on a very rainy day, but this didn't take away from the experience at all. The park is a very wide open space full of enclosures will excellent visibility of all animals. Some enclosures did seem to be empty though - and signage was lacking to explain. Staff were friendly, helpful, and offered us compensation in the form of a "rainy day return ticket" for our troubles in the bad weather. There is a café at the far end of the park which again had very friendly staff but a rather tired atmosphere; it feels a bit like a school canteen - but there was a wide selection of food including ample vegetarian options. The animals themselves appear to be treated well with good space, conditions, and care. Some of them were very friendly indeed and weren't at all scared by our presence! Overall, a tremendous day out for adults and children alike.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 December 2023
- WeLikeToTravel84United Kingdom1,052 contributionsFabulous timeI decided to come here today. We saw every animal within their enclosure. Wasn't a bad price for 2 adult tickets. We used the cafe and think pringles, and a bottle of coke was extremely expensive at £6.25. Lovely day out.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 December 2023
- Emily FAshford, United Kingdom28 contributionsGoodGood zoo with a few things to do to keep you occupied. The restaurant is nice with good food for a good expense. The Que to get in seemed long but it wasn’t too bad in the end. It’s a good zoo but can be a bit expensive if there aren’t any offers on.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 15 February 2024
- Veronica058118 contributionsThe best Zoo loved seeing ElephantsGreat day out with my grandchildren ages 9 and 5 and this was the first time either had seen an elephant in real life and were surprised how big they are. We loved seeing the Gorillas and the big cats. Great area and lots of places to have a picnic. Only one restaurant to get hot food and the queue was long so we only got snacks next time will definitely take a picnic but would be good if there were lockers so we wouldn't have to carry around all day.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 16 February 2024
- Margaret LHockley, United Kingdom115 contributionsA very good dayTogether with my daughter and three grandsons we had a great time yesterday at Howletts. We took advantage of the kids getting in for free at half term which was very useful! It had rained a lot over night and the car parking was very muddy but we were aided by helpful staff. The park was fairly busy, due to the half term offer, but as it is well laid out with plenty of space, this wasn’t a problem. Great watching the gorillas playing and to see two babies. The young elephants were having a game pushing one another which was also a bonus to watch. We took our own food as I had read it was expensive in the outlets and there were many places to sit in pretty surroundings to enjoy our food. The gift shop has a good selection which was priced reasonably. All in all a very good day was had by all. We’re absolutely delighted to hear that you and your family had a great time at Howletts! It’s wonderful that you were able to take advantage of our kids go free promotion. Our staff is always there to ensure that even a bit of mud doesn’t dampen the spirits of our visitors. We’re glad that the layout of the park allowed you to enjoy your visit without feeling overcrowded, and that you had memorable moments watching the gorillas and young elephants. It’s also great to know that you found plenty of spots to relax and enjoy your own food amidst the beautiful surroundings. Thank you for your kind words about our gift shop selection and pricing. We aim to provide a variety of choices for all our guests. Your positive feedback means a lot to us, and we look forward to welcoming you back for more enjoyable experiences in the future. - Lurra/Leia WrightKent, United Kingdom98 contributionsGreat experience!Came here with my grandparents on a weekend and the weather was absolutely lovely. The zoo was full of people and most of the animals were out. A few were missing but they were all nocturnal so it made perfect sense, not an issue. The tigers were amazing to see up close and the lemur walk through was certainly lively and enjoyable. The cafes and restaurants are usually packed but the prices are reasonable and the menu has a wide variety of choices, so it was worth the money. It was lovely to walk around the paths with all the exotic wildlife and its sister zoo (Port Lympne) is also worth the visit! Would one hundred percent recommend it to families of young kids as there are a few mini playgrounds knocking around somewhere. Hope this helps!Thank you so much for your kind words and for recommending us! We’re delighted to hear that you and your grandparents enjoyed the beautiful weather and the lively atmosphere at our animal park. It’s great to know that the tigers and the lemur walk-through were highlights of your visit. We’re glad that the variety and pricing at our cafes and restaurants added to your positive experience. Our team works hard to ensure a wide selection of options for all our guests. We look forward to welcoming you and your family back again soon.
