    Fab museum!
This is a little gem of a museum! I visited early Sunday morning with my mother. We both love visiting museums and when I saw this museum whilst staying in Sheffield for a weekend we had to visit! It’s not a massive place but they have managed to get so much into the exhibitions. It was good to see all emergency services included. As a serving member of one of those services it was really nice to see the history and how they have developed into how they operate now. We noticed there was plenty of interactive activities for children too so it is a perfect activity for both adults and children. There is a discount for 999 staff on the entrance fee however the fee is reasonable anyway, especially as you are supporting a local attraction and charity. There is also a little cafe which was reasonably priced…the coffee was lovely. We throughly enjoyed it and I would recommend a trip here for sure!
Thank you so much for the top review and for your lovely comments. I'm so pleased to know that you both enjoyed your visit to our museum and found plenty to interest and engage you. We aim to make sure there's something for everyone at NESM so I'm delighted to know that was your experience. I'm also pleased to know that you found us value for money; as an independent, self-funded museum we have to earn enough to keep us going but we do our best to make it affordable too. Thank you again.

Accessible Museum for Learning Disabled Adults
My learning disabled (adult) son loves this museum. There is plenty to engage visitors who are non-verbal with sensory needs/autism so a big thumbs up from me for accessibility. Also very family-friendly is the excellent picnic space provided. I love the individual stories used to illustrate the emergency services throughout the museum. This is a real gem of a museum (with excellent, welcoming staff).
What lovely feedback to receive! Thank you so much, and for the top rating. We aim to ensure that there's something for everyone at NESM so it's wonderful to hear that you enjoyed your visit so much. We've worked hard over the last few years to make our museum more accessible to those with a range of additional needs so it's great to hear that those improvements have really enhanced your visitor experience. I was also really pleased to know you found our staff welcoming; we pride ourselves on being a very friendly museum so it's great to know that was your experience. Thank you again and I hope we will welcome you again soon.

    1940s Christmas event
We went for the 1940s Christmas Event. It was the third time my daughter had seen Santa in 4 days (including on the Polar Express!) but this Santa was definitely the best. He really made time to have a conversation with my daughter about what she wanted for Christmas and proactively brought her Grandma into the conversation. Also enjoyed the singing. Would definitely recommend this event.
Thank you very much for taking the time to leave us a positive review - we really appreciate your support. I'm delighted to know you enjoyed your visit to our Wartime Christmas weekend and I hope we will see you again soon.

    Brilliant Day Out!
Brilliant day out with our two grandsons (aged 4 and 2) who are obsessed with emergency vehicles particularly fire engines. We visited on December the 9th which was the 1940s event as well as Santa taking time out of his busy schedule to visit. Santa and Mrs Christmas were brilliant with the children. We as grandparents will visit again alone as we now have an annual pass and would like to spend more time exploring. Definitely worth a visit.
Thank you so much for the top review and for your lovely comments. We really appreciate your support. I'm delighted to know that you all enjoyed your visit to the museum and our Wartime Christmas weekend. We look forward to welcoming you again soon.

    Wartime Christmas special
I love love love this museum. I visit quite alot with my 3 children. This time I brought my neice with me as we both are fans of ww1 & ww2 and saw they had a wartime Christmas special on. I just had to be there! It was great. Lots of public people dressed in war time clothing waving flags. Lots of people with very interesting wartime stuff giving lots of facts and knowledge from the past. There were colouring amneties for the younger children, food and drink available. I could not recommend this place any more than I do. Its a brilliant day put for families. Emma.p

If you haven't been already it's really worth checking out anyway but especially the special activity weekends. Thankyou to all involved in organising and those participating and running today. Brilliant visit. Little gem of a place on our doorstep.

    Wartime Christmas
Visited the Wartime Christmas event. All members of staff/volunteers were friendly and helpful and helped us with access - enabling us to bring our 97 year old mother in a wheelchair. Brought back memories of the war with displays, costume and ‘wartime’ entertainment. Special thanks to Father Christmas - amazing people skills - as you would expect!

Lots of fun for all the family for hours!
Lots to do and see. Lots of interesting interactive activities for children. Very friendly staff. Its an old building with old stairs but a loft has been installed so exhibits are accessible. Exhibits range from early fire brigades, through the war years to more modern emergency services. Including a large selection of vehicles some of which you can enter. Oh just make sure you don't get locked in the prison cells! Lovely little cafe too! Lots of fun for all the family for hours. Also pay once and get in for a whole year, bargin!

    A box finally ticked
A place which has been on my tick list for a few years. I eventually managed to get there whilst the exhibition was taking place over the weekend. I never realised how much was covered. I found it interesting speaking to some of the exhibitors and Museum staff. So much to learn but the info panels had just about the right amount of info before boring people. A very pleasant way to spend a couple of hours.
Thank you so much for the top review and for your lovely comments. We really appreciate the support. I'm very pleased to know you enjoyed visiting us during our Arms and Armour weekend, and that you were finally able to explore everything the museum has to offer. I hope we will see you again soon for a return visit.

Excellent for families- great day out.
I can’t rate this highly enough. We came for my 5 year olds birthday as he loves emergency vehicles. He was in his absolute element. He was so excited about all of it. He particularly enjoyed being able to go inside several of the vehicles. There were lots of opportunities to dress up throughout the museum. We went on a Saturday afternoon and were pleasantly suprised to find it not very busy. The only thing that could maybe be improved is signage to the outside yard. We nearly missed it and ended up telling another group where it was. We went as a couple of 4 adults, one child and a baby in a pushchair and managed to get around the museum fine. I think we might have to go back without the kids to have a proper read of the information. My only complaint, which think I know they can’t do anything about, is that it was really quite chilly.
Thank you so much for your lovely review, we're glad to hear you enjoyed your visit to the museum. We really appreciate your feedback about signage to the outside area, this is something we are currently looking into so hopefully something will have changed the next time you visit. The museum can be a little chilly in the winter but it can be difficult to heat the building. The silver lining is it can be a good place to cool down in the summer! I hope we will see you again soon.
