- Sophie S2 contributionsGreat experience for toddlers but bring back cash in the gift shop!!This is the 3rd year in a row that I have been here with my daughter for her birthday whilst Daddy attends a conference. She enjoys it more now that she can run around and appreciates it a bit better. Possibly a bit expensive had I not used Clubcard vouchers because it only took us 35 minutes to go round. My main gripe is not accepting cash in the gift shop "for our convenience". It is inconvenient to me because I get paid cash from my job so I have to go to the bank to pay the money in to be able to use my card. Forcing us to be a cashless society is not teaching our children the value of money because they are not physically counting it out and handing it over. They think that money just appears out of thin air!Hi Greypony2, thank you for your jaw-some review and feedback, we will pass this on to the correct team.Written 24 February 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 20 February 2024
- teresa mDudley, United Kingdom37 contributionsFab place to visit for an hour or two.We had 2 free tickets from the sunsaver days out. Its a brilliant place with fantastic displays of fish and marine life who all look well cared for. The Alaskan sea otters were amazing, we just had to wait half an hour for their feeding time to see them. The centre looks clean and all the staff were very friendly and, when asked a question, knowledgeable. BUT the price is quite steep when you consider you can get around the place in under an hour. Would definitely go back but will wait for free tickets again.Hi teresaamant, thank you for your fin-tastic review!Written 8 March 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 7 March 2024
- Freedom485651374111 contributionWonderful couple of hours!A fantastic 2.5 hours with my 4 yr old granddaughter. Awesome to see the sea otters and the penguins and lttle one was amazed to touch a starfish and see a seahorse! There was definetely more to see so a return visit is on the cards! All the staff we interacted with were really good; the talk about the otters who were separated from their parents and are relocated in Birmingham was very moving. Rachel, with whom we chatted for ages about the penguins and then later in the VR suite was utterly delightful.......very child centred and fun. Very good value with an adult and preschooler ticket in term time on week days! I was glad that I went for opening time as (and this was the only reason for 4, not 5 stars, was that it did get a bit busy for the 4 yr old later in the morningHi Freedom48565137411, thank you for your jaw-some review! - Rroberts187 contributionsBrilliant tourScatter feed tour We had a lovely guide called Jodie. We went in an hour before the tour time. The tour and feeding lasted an hour. Staff on desk was very pleasent Jolie was very knowledgeable and it was very good to walk round with her We enjoyed going through all the shirt cuts and it was good to feed the fish especially the larger fish. She took us around the sea life during the tour and told us facts about other fish and creatures too including the ocean tunnel. Only critisum is my hubby has large hands and the disposal gloves only just fitted. We got to throw the mixture of small sea fish and also carried the bucket. It was for hubby birthday and Jodie gave him a birthday sticker.Hi Rroberts18, thank you for your fin-tastic review! We're glad to sea your hubby had a great birthday and we'll look into getting some bigger gloves!!Written 1 April 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 March 2024
- Marie192345678910Oxfordshire, United Kingdom157 contributionsGood.I want to review this as good but it doesn't have the option to. The trouble we found was parking! If you have a car you will be fine, many multistories close by, but if going in a van with roof racks, you will need to find the NCP car park which is a small car park in some derelict property and quite frankly, didn't feel comfortable leaving the van there. Anyway, so, the Sealife centre, it was good, we loves the penguins, and the glass tunnel which also has a glass floor, not going to lie it did make me feel a bit funny, but at the same time it was very cool! My little one loved a couple of the little tunnels to crawl through. And we loved being able to stroke a starfish! Pretty cool! The annoying thing about the place is the green screens/ photo opportunties. I know its their job to try and get you to have a photo, but i'd rather be asked if we want it, rather than be made to feel like its an essential part of it. I would advise if you are going to go round there, then take your time to read all about the sealife and only take your children when they are fully interested. My little one kept running off and not giving us a second to read any information and we was out within an hour so it feltblike a lot of money for a short amount of time. I was expecting it to be a lot bigger to be honest. But the place is clean and well cared for and lots of information around. Well postioned to grab a bite to eat before or after! Lots of choices close by.Hi Marie, thank you for your jaw-some review, we'll make sure to pass on your comments to our photo team,Written 10 April 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 3 April 2024
- Wise GuyWolverhampton, United Kingdom11 contributions30mins and your done.In and out in 30 mins . Couldn’t stand and enjoy anything without feeling your holding up a line . Too many people at one time. Kind of a conveyor belt experience you’re just fed through and before you know it out the other end. Wasn’t worth the travel for such a short experience for us.Hi Paradise53738780133, thank you for your feedback!Written 18 May 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 May 2024
- joDursley, United Kingdom25 contributionsMr greybeard was greatThis was the third time I have been as find it to be one of the better aquariums we have been to. Brought the nephews with us this time. Firstly want to say wat a fab chap the man with the long grey beard is. Not sure of name but was really keen to chat. And have noticed now another review mentioning him so clearly he loves his job!!! Sadly the lady in the rock pools where u can touch a starfish was not so keen and looked miserable and seemed to roll eyes of asking questions… We paid for the mission packs for the boys so they could do things. And they were so excited by the “top trumps” style cards and that you could collect others from the rangers (we had done this before years ago with my son when he was young too so was telling him all about it) Sadly and disappointingly for the boys there wasn’t a single “ranger” to do this. There was plenty of sea life workers around and most didn’t even have a clue what we were on about!!! And no body had anything. So that was sad. Then also they did the stamps on the way round and one was broken which also was disappointing for them as they were enjoying looking for them.Hi Maps46753027210, thank you for taking the time to leave us with your feedback! We're thrilled to sea Greybeard made your visit but dishearted to hear our staff at the touchpool didn't, if you could drop us an email we'd like to look into this for you: slcbirmingham@merlinentertainments.bizWritten 2 June 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 1 June 2024
- BiancaDerby, United Kingdom129 contributionsOtterly amazing!I recently visited the sea life centre as I was brought a sea otter experience for my birthday. The experience also gives you entry to the aquarium throughout the day. Around an hour before my experience I had a wander around, I have been to the sea life centre on many occasions yet as always the atmosphere was lovely. They have a vast array of aquatic life and all seem to be well looked after. At 13.30 I was met by a lovely lady who was going to do a bit of a talk outside the sea otter enclosure, she gave me lots of facts about the sea otters and it was lovely chatting with her. After around 20 minutes I was met by another lovely lady who was the carer of the sea otters. We went through to the back of their enclosure, feet dipped and in I went. There is a screen between you and the otters but wow you have such an up close experience. The otters were beautiful, majestic and always on the move, they were impressive. I think the lady I was with was called Melissa, she was the most wonderful and polite person. She was full of facts and you could see how passionate she is about these creatures, which was lovely to see, I really enjoyed talking to her. I then got to give each otter an ice block full of food. It is a moment in which I will never forget, it was amazing. I had a good amount of time with the otters. I have done other animal experiences in the past and they have always felt rushed, but this was the opposite. I had loads of time to ask questions, take pictures and just watch the otters go about their day. If you're an animal lover looking for something different I would definitely recommend this experience.Hi littleadventureb, thank you fo ryour incredible review and feedback! We're so glad you enjoyed your otter meet and greet! We're thrilled to hear your feedback on our staff, we'll make sure to pass this on to Mellissa!Written 2 June 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited May 2024Travelled soloWritten 1 June 2024
- Ellie KBirmingham, United Kingdom726 contributionsAlways a lovely experienceWe had a great time at the Sea Life Centre with the 50% off deal for people with a Birmingham postcode, it was great value! We spent around 2 hours here as there were lots of interesting things to see and read. It was especially amazing to see the octopus move as I have never seen this happen in person before! The tunnel at the end was our favourite, and a lovely member of staff was in there to answer any questions we had. The prices in the gift shop were very reasonable which we were pleasantly surprised by! I would recommend going in the week if you are able to, we went on a Wednesday afternoon so there were no crowds and we could take our time.Hi Ellie, thank you for your fin-tastic review! - Craig WWarwick, United Kingdom32 contributionsLove the placeThis is my favourite place to visit cause I love animals also one I would love to work with animals in the near future that is my dream. It was nice to hear facts about penguins I did not know about. The only bad thing I have to say was there was a sign on the glass that said do not touch or tap it but there was kids that ignored the rule which I thought was disrespectful to the animals. Also the pictures you can take it said no flash photograph which I understand but some of the staff taking family photos with the flash on . The place seemed a lot bigger than before and the shop was amazing.HI Craig, thank you for your jaw-some review!Written 28 July 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited July 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 14 July 2024
