Witness one of Europe's finest art collections. Five hundred years of magnificent paintings, drawings, sculpture, silver and ceramics from Wales and across the world, including one of Europe's best collections of Impressionist art. The building also has galleries showing the diverse natural history of Wales, as well as a journey taking you through the Evolution of Wales (with dinosaur displays) from the very beginnings of time to the present day.

In our fun, free and interactive galleries, discover how Cardiff was transformed from the small market town of the 1300s, to one of the world's biggest ports in the 1900s, to the cool, cosmopolitan capital we know today. The museum, in the beautiful and historic Old Library building, is rich in stories, objects, photographs and film telling the history of Cardiff through the eyes of those who created the city – its people.

We’re a hub for the production and presentation of world-class, inventive and compelling work. Our gallery commissions and produces exhibitions of the very best in national and international art. Our theatre spaces are a platform for experimental and thought-provoking plays, dance, music, live art plus so much more. Our cinemas offer independent and challenging films alongside a range of unique festivals and events, and we bring more films, to more people, in more places through Film Hub Wales.

Firing Line, Cardiff Castle Museum of the Welsh Soldier is highly innovative and interactive in providing access to the proud and distinguished service of 1st The Queen's Dragoon Guards and The Royal Welsh, which stretches over 300 years and continues in Afghanistan today. An Independently run Museum located in Cardiff Castle, we aim to preserve past and present history for future generations to understand why ordinary people are prepared to do extraordinary things and carry out outstanding acts of bravery. Admission to the Firing Line Museum forms part of admission to Cardiff Castle. The Firing Line Museum is fully accessible with wheelchair and pushchair access to the museum via the lift located in Cardiff Castle Interpretation Centre. Our exhibition text is also located at a wheelchair friendly height. A family friendly cafe is located within the Interpretation Centre.
