This place must be on your bucket list. If you have any humanity at all.
I had read the book, seen documentaries and films both good and bad, now I wanted to see where it all happened. First challenge was booking a ticket. The slots fill up very quickly and can only be booked online so DO NOT HANG AROUND! The day we were there was completely sold out. You get a perspective on why the Franks decided to hide. "Jews must turn in their bikes. Jews are not allowed to ride on Trams. Jews are not allowed in swimming pools. Jews must do their shopping between 1500 and 1700 each day. Jews are not allowed to sit in their gardens after 2000. Jews are not allowed to carry flowers. Jews are not allowed in Cinemas"...the list goes on. Without any spoilers you get a flavour of the characters of the people. The most important and moving part was they fully acknowledged the part and the tremendous risks taken by the helpers, Johanes Kleinman, Jan Gies, Miep Gies, Bep Voskuil and Victor Kugler. If they had been caught they would have been shot if they were lucky. I thought I knew the story. I was wrong. It was incredibly moving. Most of all it showed the power of hope, and the strength of the human spirit in adversity. If you don't come out of there a different person you are not a human being.

    Must see!!
We booked the group tour on the Anne Frank House website. Very moving and emotional experience. I would suggest to watch the new series "A Small Light", watching this before our visit was a real insight to this tragic story.

A Solemn Glimpse into History at Anne Frank House
Visiting Anne Frank House in Amsterdam was deeply moving. It's not just a museum, but a silent witness to a heartbreaking history. Walking through the rooms, you can picture the fear and hope that once lived within these walls. It’s beautifully kept and tells a story that we all need to hear, to remember the dark times and ensure they never happen again. However, some review I've read are madness! This isn’t a place for thrill-seekers or fun photos. It’s a place to quietly reflect on a young girl’s life and the terrible events of the past. Make sure to book your tickets well in advance, it will be sold out weeks in advance and "walk-ins" don't happen.

    A Must See
The Anne Frank House was a bucket list for me, as I taught the Diary of Anne Frank for many years. The experience was so sad, knowing what these people had to endure. I recommend this experience to everyone, as it is a very important part of our history.

    An “Attraction” Worth the Wait
Feels a bit disrespectful writing a review of this “attraction”, but really wanted to make this visit. Yes there is a new visitor centre built next door I assume to cope with the visitor numbers, of which we added 3 people to those numbers. Bags and coats can be stored in lockers, included in the entrance charge. The inevitable queuing system works well and gives you time to read the captions and listen to the audio tours, included in the cost. I found the tour moving, Anne’s story was a story I’ve heard all my life, this was a bit of a pilgrimage of sorts. We later found out on a separate unrelated tour that the Gestapo headquarters in Amsterdam were, in WWII, just around the corner on the same block… History helps us avoid the mistakes of the past.

    Haunting
The Anne Frank House Tour was a deeply moving and educational experience. Walking through the historic annex where Anne Frank and her family hid during World War II was both poignant and thought-provoking. The tour was well-organized, and our guide was knowledgeable, providing insightful commentary about Anne's diary and the events of that time. This visit was a powerful reminder of the importance of tolerance, understanding, and the need to remember history. A must-visit for anyone interested in the human story behind the Holocaust.

Anne Frank Hiuse: So earring and Interesting Experience
I was surprised at the modern facade. Behind this building is the actual “house” in which the Frank family took refuge. I learned a lot about their ordeal and the facts of their 2 year hiding. The house is not wheel chair accessible or for the disabled. Their are a lot of stairs and at least one is similar to a ladder. There is a bookstore/gift shop at the end with bathrooms plus a small cafe. Cloakroom is free. You won’t be comfortable going up all the stairs with your coats and large bags.

Sobering. Well preserved. Actual notebooks can be viewed.
This museum is a sobering reminder of how badly a society can deteriorate when driven by a philosophy of hate. I am grateful that the house/annex has been so well preserved and that our visit allowed us to see a few of Anne Frank's actual notebooks. Climbing the same steep, narrow steps, holding the same handrails, and walking the same floors where the family hid for those years was inspiring for us. It is difficult to imagine the fear and anxiety that permeated those rooms during 1942-4.

    A sobering journey
A sobering journey of a young girls life, or lack of. The narrative told the story well. Some steep stair cases to climb so take care. The original features take you back to the time Anne and her family lived here and made you imagine them being used. I would have given it 5 stars but I was a bit disappointed that photographs were not permitted. Allow 1.5 hours.

A must visit while in amsterdam
This was an experience my husband wanted to do while in Amsterdam. As a mother with a 14 and 6 year old I was worried it would be a bit boring. How wrong was I. Everyone including my youngest enjoyed the tour. You are given head sets to talk you through each room you visit it's not overcrowded and you walk at your own pace. We all learnt alot and I would highly recommend doing this while in amsterdam. Not allowed to take photos so can't share any.
