The imperial collections of the Habsburgs
The museum is one of the oldest and richest museums in the world. Visiting it in a single day is truly an impossible undertaking, but you can organize your visit by focusing on the historical and artistic themes of greatest personal interest. The museum's two art galleries are exceptional with paintings by Brueghel, Arcimboldo, Caravaggio, Velazquez, Vermeer along with many others. The wunderkammer is very important with the collection of treasures established over time by Rudolf II of Habsburg. Definitely an unmissable site in Vienna.

Our first visit to the Kunsthistorisches Museum
As we anticipated, in almost three hours, we managed to visit only half of the first floor of this exquisite and vast museum! At a leisurely pace, we visited in detail the rooms dedicated to the ancient history of Egypt, Hellenistic culture, the Roman Empire, Etruscan culture, Christianity and early Middle Ages in Europe. The objects on display are magnificent. We looked at them with awesome respect for the unsurpassed skills of those craftsmen who lived and worked in the distant past... We will, of course, return to this museum to see the other three-fourths of the collections and most probably, to revisit once again the rooms we had already seen!

Fantastic museum/art gallery. Multiple visits required to discover and appreciate all it has to offer.
This was our second visit, the first being a few years ago, to this imposing and impressive building, that is a work of art in and of itself with its marble finishes and richly decorated ceilings. The Museum houses world class collections of art, sculpture, jewellery, glassware, clocks, coins etc as well as Egyptian, Greek and Roman antiquities. Much of the collections were accumulated during the reign of the Habsburgs. Entry for adults was Euro21 and included a very good floor plan map. Our primary purpose for going this time was to see the special exhibition titled "Raphael: Gold and Silk Tapestries" that comprised 18 large tapestries designed by Raphael and others. There were also some original Raphael drawings. As magnificent as these tapestries were, we only considered them as the support act to the wonderful collection of works by Klimt, Titian, Tintoretto, Veronese, Van Dyck, Peter Paul Rubens, Durer, Peter Bruegel the Elder, Vermeer, Rembrandt, Caravaggio, Velazquez amongst a cast of many others. Then there was the superb Egyptian, Greek and Roman collections on the Ground Floor. Certainly an embarrassment of riches. Take time out to catch your breath at the cafe on the first floor. Whilst it is fairly expensive and the service is mixed it is in a beautiful location.

    Magnificent
There is little to add about this museum.... Truly fantastic, in a beautiful building, with beautiful collections ranging from the Egyptian, Greek and Roman eras to painting exhibitions with masterpieces by Breugel, Rubens, Caravaggio, Raphael, Titian, Rembrandt, Arcimboldo, etc. etc. It is definitely worth the full price of the ticket and for me it is one of those places to visit if you are in Vienna...

    Kunsthistorisches Museum
The Kunsthistorisches Museum is another museum present in Piazza Maria Teresa and which belongs to that list of places in Vienna where it is worth going. The Museum is impressive and there are various collections of ancient civilizations present. However, there are also less dated works and this makes the structure a truly complete museum.

My New Favorite Art Museum !
The museum itself oozes luxury. That is a nice ambience when you are looking at art. I liked the Vermeer, the Caravaggios, the Botticelli and the Cellini Salt Cellar. I also loved the restaurant. All we had was Cappuccinos and a snack but we were treated like royalty. This is my new favorite art museum in the world. The cafe in the Louvre is a dump. They could learn a thing or two.

    Great Museum
This museum is huge. We did mostly floor 0.5 that is where the Roman and Egyptian artifacts are. That was enough to go through in a day. We took a quick run through the coin exhibit and the paintings. We were not able to go through these carefully as the place is massive and we were getting tired.

Beautiful museum, extensive collection and incredible experience
It’s one of the most extravagant and beautiful museums in Europe. Currently showing Holbein with extensive collection gathered from around the world. In the middle of the exhibition, there is a visitor lounge where you can take a rest on a couch or go through their interactive screens for more details on the exhibition. Permanent collection includes Vameer’s Art of Painting and Tower of Babel. There is also an app offering multiple virtual guided tours based on very interesting topics. The museum is right next to the Museum Quarter. Just 10-15 minutes from Opera House close to the Burggarten.

    World class museum
I took advantage of the late Thursday night opening (open until 9pm on Thursday) to enjoy this fabulous museum. The building itself is magnificent and spread over two floors there is so much to see. I started in the Egyptian area on the first floor and worked my way up to the picture gallery on the second. I spent 3 very happy and content hours here and only for fatigue kicking in I could have spend longer.

    An Impressive Museum
The Austrian Art Museum is housed in a huge palace, built between 1872 and 1891. The palace is located in the Maria Thereza Square and was intended for the Habsburg collections. And I had a lot to see, the cream of the paintings and sculptures from all periods of history. But I'll let the photos describe what I say. During the visit, we went to the museum cafe for proper coffee and cakes. I believe that a visit at this museum is a "must".
