An exceptional museum on a human scale
Don't miss the opportunity to visit the Albertina in Vienna. There you will see the historic apartments of the Dukes of Saxe-Teschen (18th-19th centuries) magnificently restored and decorated. You will also see an incredible (rotating) collection of works of art created by the dukes themselves and then constantly enriched. Engravings, drawings, sculptures, paintings from Dürer to the contemporary era, including Rubens, Poussin, Rembrandt, Monet, Degas, Klimt, Schiele, Modigliani, Picasso, etc... It is exceptional and very diverse. The modern and contemporary collections are the subject of excellent museography. Allow at least 2 hours of visit. Audio guides. Guided tours possible. Small shop at the exit. Access for people with reduced mobility. It's quite expensive but well worth it.

    very nice
Both the spatial structure and the range and of course the content on display make it my wife's absolute favorite place in Vienna. Lichtenstein, Picasso, Monet, modern art and historical state rooms. Absolutely impressive and fascinating

    Bring plenty of time
We looked at the collection "From Monet to Picasso" as well as the state rooms and the collection of photographs. Unfortunately there wasn't enough time for the Roy Lichtenstein exhibition. We really enjoyed the exhibitions. We didn't use the audio guide, but the most important pictures had detailed explanations. Next time I would bring even more time.

A real treat for art lovers.
An impressive collective of famous and not so famous art from the late 1800s onwards. Monet, Degas, Renoir and the list goes on. Very popular and gets busy but not surprising. Plan a good half-day to do it justice.

    Wonderful collection, great museum building
Wonderful collection, great current exhibitions. We always like to come back. This time we were very impressed - by the exhibition, of course - but also by the security staff, who were incredibly friendly despite the incredibly large number of visitors. We have rarely experienced this in museums. Greetings to the security staff, you are great!

    Lovely art museum
Lovely art museum. Wheelchair users can just use their health insurance card to get a 7 Euro ticket to all the Albertina locations. Access is via internal elevators that must be operated by one of the guards, but they were right there and did a great job for me. I especially enjoyed the Monet/Manet/Picasso section.

    World class museum
We looked at the collection from Monet to Picasso. We walked through the state rooms and enjoyed the exhibition for Roy Lichtenstein's 100th birthday. Simply wonderful. Unfortunately, the audio guide for your cell phone was often switched off and had to be reloaded.

Fabulous European Modern Art collection not to be missed!
For their Modern Austrian and Impressionist paintings, including one of Monet's Water Lily Pond paintings, the Albertina art museum was high on my list to visit during our first time in Vienna. And it didn't disappoint! So off we went on the morning of our first full day in the city. Located within the old city center, it was walkable from our hotel. We had bought timed tickets so we followed the signs and got in line on the upper level. The highlight of the museum is the permanent exhibition Monet to Picasso: The Batliner Collection of great works in the styles of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, German Expressionism, Secession, Modern Austrian, Russian Avant-Garde, and Cubism and Surrealism. We must have spent close to two hours enjoying all these works. Afterwards we walked through some 20 restored Hapsburg State Rooms. Stunning!! We wrapped up our visit viewing the Roy Lichtenstein: A Centennial Exhibition which was actually quite interesting...more than I expected it to be. For architecture enthusiasts, check out the 2003 Hans Holbein cantilever entrance, both close up and from across the street!

Summer of 2024 exhibits are very good.
The Albertina is a manageable scale of art museum. It has a solid set of displays in summer 2024. A retrospective of Roy Lichtenstein is well worth the visit, and is accessible for a non art crowd. The work by Eva Beresin and Franz Grabmayr require more work, though we really enjoyed the latter. There’s also an excellent exhibit on Monet to Picasso, which works through the impressionist to scant garde progress. Certainly worth the visit.

    Spectacular
One of the best art museums I've seen so far. In addition to the state rooms there were 6 different exhibitions, particularly impressive is "Monet bis Picasso", which is strongly impressionistic. A must for art lovers.
