    Great Views of Scarborough
Although its a very steep climb to the castle its worth it for the stunning views of both bays. We got in free via English Heritage subs, a guide book was priced at £4, there are free walking guided tours available and activities for kids. Theres a stand selling hot drinks, ices plus an onsite gift shop (same place as where you pay to get in), selling books, pens, postcards, stationery, toys. As we left we were thanked by the staff for visiting the castle, which i thought was very nice.

Cold up there, but a very interesting visit
I mean apart from nearly being blown off the cliff because of the wind from the sea, it was a great couple of hours. Found the history very interesting, and also the castle overlooking the sea was a spectacle of a sight! I felt like I was in a movie. This is a great attraction, but bring a jumper, the wind is cold! Some actors would add to this attraction, make it a bit more engaging for younger groups.

    Worth the walk uphill
Well worth the walk up the hill. The site offers great views over both sides of Scarborough. There are useful information boards, free tours available, and lots to see. It’s mostly outdoor, so better on a dry day. Plenty of picnic benches. We were given a kids activity trail leaflet for our 4-year old, and she loved listening to the audio guide, too. These are free with admission, with different audio points located around the site. Friendly staff. We really enjoyed our visit.

Scarborough Castle - for the best views in town!
We had a lovely visit to Scarborough Castle. We started off in brilliant sunshine but unfortunately the rain got us in the end! Not to worry, we enjoyed browsing in the shop, and bought a few treats including a bottle of mead. There is a tower remaining, from which you can see far-reaching and beautiful views. The site is very large but many of the buildings that used to be there are now gone. It's still a great trip, and we enjoyed seeing the ruins and also the museum, the ice cream van and the coffee shop! Really great for families, couples or lone travellers and there were several free tours of the site available on the day we visited. What can I say about the views from that site? Stunning.

    Steep climb.
There is NO public car park up at the castle,it is a dead end.I do believe disabled drives are admitted. It is a steep climb,up to the entrance, even when you go to pay entry you have to climb some steps into the shop. Then large cobbles up hill from there. There is a coffee shop, think also an exhibition. Sorry can not comment on views etc,I,m not agile,so no climbing up steps, banks.

    Scarborough Castle guided tour
I have been to Castle many times but I have only done Audio tours. Today, as I arrived there was a guide named Andy offering Free, guided tours. Andy was very knowledgeable and very approachable. He answered questions fully and had additional stories to tell that enhanced the whole visit. The tour lasted about an hour and was at a gentle pace, with plenty of yime to sit and enjoy the views on the way round. Afterwards there was a small coffee/ snack shop which quite reasonably priced. There is also an exhibition to look around and the views are spectacular. Absolutely worth a visit and hopefully Andy will be on hand to give you a tour! Well done Andy!

    Fabulous views!
We visited during half term, very lucky to have a beautiful day, full sun and no wind. Amazing after the storms on Friday! We didnt pre book, the children were welcomed as were we and given a Halloween activity sheet by friendly staff. It is mainly outside but plenty to see, beautiful views across Scarborough on a clear day. We spent 2-3 hours there including a picnic. We didnt use it but there was a stall selling hot drinks. Parking was near by on a small green, reasonable charges £6 all day.We walked into Scarborough afterwards lovely sloping path down and then came back up on the tram. A really lovely day all in all, would definately recommend to others.

    Great Castle
Great visit today on a wet and rainy day in October. Plenty of information from different periods in the castles history. Knowledge and friendly staff as well as the standard English Heritage gift shop and hot drinks stand. Not to mention fantastic views of the North and South beach. Some of the woodwork added to make area of the castle assessable are well worn and very slippy as well as some that have rotted away which make it a little dangerous on wet days.

    Amazing Views
The castle offers amazing views of both bays, although this means it’s quite a trek to the top. It’s just a ruin of a castle and, if you want any information on it, you have to buy an audio guide. At £9.50 to enter, this isn’t cheap but I expect most people are members.

Head in the clouds - quite literally!
"Let's go to Scarborough Castle, the views will be amazing" my husband said. We arrived on bank holiday Sunday to driving rain of biblical proportioms, of course typical for the British bank hol weekend weather. And typically we doned our rain jackets, our umbrellas (which subsequently blew inside out) and set off for a jolly nice time. We'd pre-booked tickets and one of their 'tramper' all-terrain scooters as my husband is disabled and we knew his mobility scooter wouldn't manage it. We'd enquired about disabled parking and were told we could park within the ground but when we arrived it was all full. That was due to the fact they had an event on which meant all the organisers' vehicles were parked there. Never mind, we made it (just!) up the very steep hill. Otherwise parking for disabled is limited to double yellows but the steepness of that hill might not suit all. The organisation was brilliant, our tramper was made available when we got in although we did have to get to the top of another steep hill which might make it difficult for wheelchair users. Given a simple demonstration and we were on our way. Thank goodness we booked that, as we never would have gotten around. We were given a map too of the paths we could and couldn't access. And for the next hour, we quite literally had our head in the clouds. I don't think they could have experienced worse weather for this time of year. Driving rain, misty, soggy underfoot, we couldn't help but hysterically laugh - and it's made for a memorable day of our holiday. We did feel for them as this extravaganza day obviously had so much effort had been put into it. And the entertainment was good fun. Well done all for keeping going and keeping your crowds smiling! We finally got to see the views of the bay as the cloud cleared and my husband was right, it was amazing! We didn't get time to go into the castle remains but we'll definitely come back on a better weather day. Great customer service, thank you and I hope you have all dried out
