This museum is just on the outskirts of the Old Quarter and easy enough to walk to if you’re staying in that area. The entry fee is very reasonable at 40,000VND. The museum is set out in 3 levels: family and motherhood, history/politics and fashion. The exhibits are well laid out though the museum could use a little spruce up. If you’re interested in fashion, I would also recommend the Museum of Ethnology for traditional outfits.

We highly recommend this product to anyone interested in textiles. We were able to compare the distinctive patterns, colors and decorations of each mountain people. Museum Shop products were cheaper than souvenir shops around town. However, it was cash only.

Best museum we went to in Vietnam. While the focus was on women, the museum gave the most complete and tangible perspective on life in Vietnam today and in the past including daily life, traditions, and warfare. Highly recommend the audio tour as it provides a lot of colour, interesting personal stories, and context for many of the displays. Don't miss!!

Spent the morning at the Vietnamese Woman’s Museum with Candy, a Hanoi Kids guide. Aside from Candy speaking perfect English and a very knowledgeable guide, I enjoyed learning about the traditions and the strong role of the women in the Vietnamese society. The textiles and exhibits were amazingly beautiful, and although there were English explanations, as well as short videos to watch, I feel that my visit benefited by having a personal guide (with personal insight) show me around, as there is so much to take in. The museum is conveniently located right in town, walkable from the old quarter.

Loved this museum. Very educational and full of interesting materials and storyline. I brought my 14 year old son here, who is also a history buff. What I like about this museum is it's specifically about women of Vietnam and their culture. Even my son was awed! He even joked with me saying "mom, you'll need to give cows for dowry if I marry a Vietnamese girl". I just love how he was mesmerized and was so interested in this unique culture for him. It's a 3-4 floors, showcasing from birth to death of a women in Vietnam. We spent more than 3 hours here. I specially love their dresses that evolves in time. The museum itself is well kept and clean. Nice cold aircon too so it's also a reprieve from Hanoi's outdoor heat. There's also a small cafe/gift shop inside and a vending machine for water or juice at the lobby. The ladies at front speaks English and is helpful when needed. My son and I rented the headset and I recommend it. It's more fun and I see my son roaming around the museum enjoying himself and listening intently. Then he would come to me and share to me what he saw (or heard) that's extra unique to him. I loved our interaction and enjoyed how fascinated he was. An educational, interesting and super fun visit here for sure.

I wasn't expecting the museum to be that good, and having audio guide enhanced our experience. There are 4 levels in the museum. We liked the marriage and bearing a child section, but our favorite part was about the heroines of Vietnam. Alot of stories about their courage and sacrifice.

The Vietnam Women’s Museum is totally worth a visit! It has 3 main exhibits: women in marriage and family, women in history - heroines and Vietnam’s heroic mothers, and the Mother Goddess worship, ethnic costumes, and jewelry. Every section is great, the space is beautiful, and the heroic mothers part really touched me. Went once and loved it—definitely check it out!

Visiting the Vietnam Women's Museum, I felt the strength, resilience and sacrifice of women throughout the ages. The museum is very well organized, with fascinating exhibitions on costumes, jewelry and the role of women in the family. The display on women in war is especially touching, showing their bravery and important contributions to the resistance. A profound and memorable experience, providing a comprehensive view of Vietnamese culture and history through the perspective of women."

We spent about 2 hours exploring this well-curated museum. The marriage customs and wartime exhibits were particularly fascinating. The displays gave us great insights into Vietnamese women's roles throughout history. Better than we expected, honestly!
