Hotels near Burj Khalifa

Standing over 2,700 feet and 163 floors high, this record-breaking skyscraper in downtown Dubai is the tallest structure in the world. Burj Khalifa has several open-air viewing decks and swanky lounges which offer splendid views of the UAE and the Persian Gulf. The highest lounge is located at level 154, and there is even a hotel at levels 38 and 39. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill architects, this mixed-used development atop Dubai Mall is inspired by the Great Mosque of Samarra in Iraq. You might want to buy skip-the-line tickets or join a tour to avoid snaking queues at this popular attraction in Dubai. – Tripadvisor

Definitely worth a visit - you can see it well from the Dubai Fountains at the base and there are several options to go inside and up it… lines are LONG (even with advance tickets) to go to the top (148th) floor or almost top (125th) floor - people were waiting 2 hours or more for the elevator up and another hour for the elevator down… some paid an extra $100 US for the VIP ticket that jumps the line but that’s a pricey option on top of the standard ticket price… I read a review that suggested the Atmospheres restaurant on 123/122 is a nice alternative as you can do afternoon tea there at a window table - skipping the line, relaxing in a seat, and eating delicious food at a Michelin started restaurant… so that’s what I decided to do - price was probably comparable or a little more than the straight observation deck experience but no lines and a lovely afternoon… Getting into the restaurant is another story - building security brought me through because you have to go through restricted areas with access limited to people who live in the residences there - it was a long and winding walk but the security staff was lovely and helpful and clearly knew the way… Getting out was a NIGHTMARE - restaurant staff kept sending me to a door that would require me to cross the street and go through a scary looking gate to get back to the fountains… and the staff at the gate kept sending me back to the restaurant staff for an alternative - unfortunately they were much less helpful AFTER I had paid my bill so fail to them for that but still recommended overall…

We booked for the 5pm slot which was I think 250 AED pp as it is classed as peak times to take in the sunset from floor 124. We were advised to check in at the reception about 4 to 4:15pm. We arrived about 4:15pm and because it seemed quiet we went for a wander and didn’t register at reception until about 4:25pm thinking we would have plenty of time! Once we turned the corner we joined the first of 3 snaking queues, the time was passing and we became concerned we would miss the sunset. At about 5:20pm we eventually made the lift which rises to the 124th floor in a matter of seconds! We saw the sunset about 10 minutes later and the experience was superb. We visited the gift shop which was reasonably priced and stayed to watch the first fountain display at 6pm. We descended and read the history of the Burj Khalifa adorning the panels along the exit route. All in all a fab experience but make sure you arrive at least an hour before your entry time and even earlier at popular times!

We chose the 124 and 125 floor option and to go up at 5.30pm (considered peak time for them), booking the tickets from Italy a few days before paying around 67 euros, and with 2 euros more we opted for the combo with the souvenir ( which consists of a magnet costing around 5 euros). The choice of time was perfect, we showed up at the entrance at 5.10pm, 5.15pm, and after passing the metal detectors we were in line to take the lift up which takes you to the 124th floor in just 1 minute, at 5.25pm we were already at admire the view. Very few people were above, we were able to take videos and photos from all sides calmly and without crowds, admired the view during the day, at dusk and then at night, we saw the fountains from above during the day and in the evening. It's just a shame we couldn't admire the sunset due to clouds over the sea. From 7.30pm it started to fill up, in fact at 8pm when we got off we had to queue for a while to take the lift. On our way out we noticed that the queue to get in was very long. Nice experience but if I have to be honest, not as exciting as many expect.

My kids were thrilled to visit the top of the Burj Khalifa and the experience did not disappoint. Fortunately we bought the Sky lounge tickets which allowed us to skip the massive queues and enjoy a quieter time at the 145th floor...well worth the additional cost to save 3-4 hrs standing in line and enjoying snacks and drinks at the top. We arrived at our entry time of 4 pm and were at the 145th floor by 4:45 after a brief wait and presentation. We spent a few hours on the 145th as our plan was to see the sunset from there. During that time we took a lot of photos, relaxed with snacks and the workers were also kind enough to take our family photos. It did get a bit crowded closer to sunset time and we went down to the 125/124th floors for the night views. Those floors were a lot more crowded, but there were activities to interact with, photo ops and a small gift shop. We didn't spend too long on those floors and joined the "fast pass" line for the elevator, where again the wait wasn't more than 10-15 mins (the regular line seemed to be an hour long at least). We were down and at the fountain shows by 7:15. The regular lines to go up when were leaving seemed massive as well. It was a Sunday, so crowds were likely at peak then. Overall a great experience, however It was a bit pricy as the kids had to pay full price as well.

Booked the ticket with lounge access, has an outdoor viewing deck on highest floor, amazing sunset views. Another floor has food and drinks, all tasted good, vibe was luxury yet relaxing, not too busy. You also get access to another lower floor which has a good view of the fountain show, it’s a busier floor as other general tickets give you access to it. Overall worth going for the ticket with lounge access. Note that you can’t take food or drinks to the outside viewing deck and you are offered a glass of Prosecco on arrival, so ask for your drink after you’ve been to the outdoor area especially if you timed it for the sunset. Recommend timing it so you get to see the daytime and night views. Make sure you go to the outside area of the mall to see the actual Burj Khalifa and fountain show.

Despite the numerous articles read in terms of timing we ended up missing the sunset we had aimed for. We had booked the Lounge experience on the 154th floor for 17.00 (with a sunset at 17.32) and we had been told by numerous sources to be there 20 minutes before. We arrived at 16.30 but even though our ticket came with a Fast Track facility, there were so many people that we ended up arriving on the 154th floor 10 minutes after the sun had set. Oh well ! On that level you can enjoy one free alcoholic drink per person and unlimited soft drinks along with some canapés available on levels 152 and 153. There is an large outdoor area on level 152. If you choose this ticket (unfortunately not the cheapest 😳) I recommend arriving early to enjoy the views and hospitality of the place (drinks and canapés) before making your way to level 152 where you can take nice pictures on the terrace (without the glare of the windows)

The tallest man-made structure in the world is quite impressive. You can see it from almost everywhere in the city. Head to the Dubai mall to get an up close view. You should also experience it at night, when it's lit up and the fountains in front of it are on display. It's quite impressive. You can also go up to the 125th floor from the Dubai mall in an experience called at the top for which you can buy a ticket from the mall or online. I found the latter to be more convenient. It isn't cheap however. I would recommend purchasing a slot right before sunset. That's the best way to experience the view from the top. It took us about an hour to get up, so take that into consideration. That is the main drawback, the visit is pretty hectic. The line is long and you have to merge from one line to the next at one point, which can be awkward since it seems like you're cutting in line. On the way down, it was much worse, the space to stand is quite cramped and it takes a very long time to go down. They definitely need more ushers to guide the people, since some were cutting in line. Also, they could reduce the capacity of visitors to make the experience run smoother. There is a "VIP" ticket you can buy which lets you join a quicker line which is of course more expensive. Other than that, the view was okay, but in my opinion not worth the high ticket price especially due to the hectic visit.

Visited the Burj Khalifa with “The Lounge” / “Luxury” ticket/experience and I’m glad I did. TLDR: as a solo traveler very happy I had the top priced ticket (200+ USD) all because of crowding and lines. I was up and down in a reasonable time (1 hr to get to the top, spent 1 hr between all the floors, 10 mins down) and was able to take photos in every direction without waiting. As someone only in town for a 48 hr layover it was worth it for the time. If I had my family with me? I probably would not have done it just because of the total cost. Other benefit - the Lounge level seemed to be the only one with a balcony that didn’t have glass so my photos are crystal clear vs through a glass wall or window. Whatever you do - buy your ticket in advance. Details: Views are awesome and I’m a bit of an urban / cities nerd. Arrived at 1030 for an 1100 ticket. it was super crowded with extraordinary long lines extending well beyond the ropes. There are separate lines for Premium and Luxury level tickets. I found an employee who let me into the Luxury line as the main line extended well being the queueing area. After being checked in, the premium and luxury guests get to sit down and wait in a lobby area until it’s full and time to go up. My total wait time from arrival to getting to the top was about one hour. Compared to what had to be multiple hours for others - honestly the lines were unbelievable even after reading the other reviews. They put a gold or silver sticker on you depending on what you booked. The Lounge experience consists of the three highest floors that you can go to publicly. On the day I was there, there was space to sit and look on every direction. You eat canapés and snacks and drink coffee and one adult beverage. There is no time limit so I spent about 50 mins between the different floors taking in the views, having a snack, and using the wifi to plan the rest of my day in Dubai with the Persian Gulf in the background. There is also a private washroom and you have better views of the World/Palm Jumeirah area than on the lower floors because every level doesn’t have 360 outdoor access - each is a bit different. Then I went to the other floors for the Premium experience (music was kinda loud) and the general admission. Each was increasingly busy. Since the view was similar I only spent about ten mins across all those floors. I will say that it’s so high up that the view from the lower floors is actually a bit different. There is a “Fast Track” line to get back down. That wait was about 10 mins for Premium/Luxury guests. By the time I left at 1300 the line was much much shorter and I imagine the benefits that I had of the high priced ticket would have been diminished significantly. But at the time I arrived - it saved the day. Happy travels all!

Wanted to know what the hype was all about but can assure that for the first time visiting the Burj Khalifa, once you are there its a whole different story. We recommend purchasing the Sky VIP package because you take an exclusive elevator to the 148th floor. We reserved everything a few days before our trip and didnt leave anything for last minute since the lines outside of the Burj are outrageous. You can reserve online and get Full Refund up to 24 Hours Before Your Tour Date. The Tour guide is very informative and once you are on the 148th floor, you can take the stairs to the regular floors to buy souvenirs etc. You can also hire a professional photographer to take pictures and get them digital on a USB drive or printed.

The organization of tourist traffic is very good. I think it is best to take the more expensive option of entering the 148th or 156th floor because you wait in line much shorter (about 30 minutes in total). All rooms (including the elevators) are very clean. The smell in the building makes a very positive impression - oriental and strong. While waiting to enter, you can watch movies on the screens that contain scenes shot in the Burj Khalifa building. At the top, as you would expect, the views are amazing, in our opinion this is a must-see/visit option for those staying in Dubai.
