    Great glfor the hobbyists
Perfect for Hornby, scalextric and air fix fans. Mix of history of each plus old and new models from time. Very well priced entry though all the models we wanted were much priced than expected. Got the coca cola van for a good price we thought.

Hornby Visitor Centre, a great place to revisit your youth.
What a great place to visit. My youth revisited and then some. The cafe was good enough too and I weakened and bought a lucky dip mixed bag of Hornby items for my sins. The place has a good feel about it and kids young and old should find many things to enjoy and reminisce about while getting round. We spent about 2.5 hours there including a quick go on the Scalextric cars and a cafe visit.

    A Good, Positive Visit
I visited the WonderWorks with my father, who was an Engineer's Pattern Maker & Model Maker for the car industry in the old days before retiring and it was he who was keen to visit. Having never visited previously and having read the most recent reviews on the new Wonderworks I was a little worried about what to expect but I have to say that we found the whole experience thoroughly enjoyable and positive. It was extremely interesting seeing Hornby's various brands and the exhibits explaining how each brand model is produced, from the concept stage to final manufacture. It is clear that a lot of care and time goes into producing a top quality model. It was great seeing some of the vintage kits, numerous models and diarama's as well as being able to play with the Scalectrix and train sets... The shop had an overwhelmingly tempting range of products and the cafe prices were in my opinion very reasonable. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. Overall, we were very happy with our visit...

    Nice
Having read recent reviews here I was nervous about visiting, but we needed somewhere that wasn't weather dependent to get a mixed age family group together. We were there two hours including a trip to the cafe and everyone found something to interest them. If you loved the old version I guess there might be things you'd miss but we'd not been before and so didn't have anything in mind. Some stools to get the smallest children up high enough to see the things they're too small to play with would be nice, and the car park could use a more obvious signpost but apart from that we had no problems. I wouldn't suggest going expecting more than £5 of entertainment but we had a perfectly nice afternoon.

    Unexpectedly enchanting
This is a treasure of a little place. I thought husband would enjoy and I would be bored silly but I think I might be a secret train fan because I loved it. There are interactive areas for the big kid in you and interesting exhibits and information boards. But I loved the model train set ups, so intricate, taking in all the little details and the trains going around are so calming. I have been converted. We were the exhibit for about an hour, then a little while in the shop. There is the Wonderworks, the shop selling all the sets and a cafe.

Not that great now! Not sure where the "Wonder" has gone
Not as good after the refit, wasnt as much to look at, just now one big room, came out thinking "Was that it"? We had been going here for years when it was the visitors centre, then last year, in the summer season, they gutted this, and refitted i, but nowhere near as good. A friend of mine who is not into models, enjoyed this in the previous guise, but said" there was lot more before" you would go round a corner and be surprised what awaited them. Now just one big rooms. The shop is now bigger, but saddly not the hobby for kids to save their pocket money up for any more. even the basic of items, is unafordable! We drove an hour and 15 mins to see this. Wont be bothering again,

    Try the afternoon tea!
I had been a little put off by some of the reviews on here but have to say I really enjoyed my experience at the Wonder Works. Interesting exhibits all well displayed. I had never been to the previous museum so can't compare but I liked the way they have now set things out. I did think the model railway layouts were a little unambitious considering the wealth of products at their disposal. All the staff there were really lovely and helpful but I do feel they need someone permanently stationed in the exhibit area to advise and sometimes put things right. It was difficult to fathom how to get one of the model railway layouts working. The shop is excellent with a massive choice. We went in the cafe as we had pre-booked the afternoon tea. It was very substantial but absolutely lovely and a little bit different from usual afternoon teas. Delicious homemade sausage rolls and scotch eggs. Be prepared to bring some home with you! Many thanks to the lovely lady in the cafe who prepared it all. Entrance to the Wonder Works is included in the price of afternoon tea. Would definitely go again just for the tea!

    Not much there.
Took our 2 year old niece as we thought she'd enjoy the experience as our own children have loved coming here over the years but wasn't at all impressed. 1 big room displaying not a lot. Not really a place for children and the train layouts have the same trains going around. Found it incredibly boring and a waste of £10.
