Decided to visit Marwell Zoo. It was a cold afternoon so not all the animals were at their best. Initially I found it disappointing until I saw the Tigers, who truly saved the day! Magnificent. The rhinos were locked in so only saw a glimpse, but the giraffes were brilliant, as

Hello LadyMcD1, thank you for your review. We're glad our wonderful Amur Tigers were able to improve your day! We have a wide variety of amazing animals around the zoo, so hopefully you were able to see more of our incredible range of species. The rhinos can be spotted from inside Wild Explorers, it is however more likely that they had chosen to be inside. We give our animals the option to relax in the indoor section of their enclosure when they would like to, or explore the outside when they wish. Unfortunately we did have some technical difficulties with our land train last week, these are all resolved now. The rail train is also only running over specific dates, which can be found on our website. We're sorry you were unable to use the trains during your visit, hopefully the walking wasn't too much of an issue for you. A side note for if you do visit the park again, we do have wheelchairs available for hire at the park, we do however require require a £20 deposit for their hire. We do have a few changes and moves going on around the park at the moment, however it is again unlikely the paddocks were empty. As mentioned our animals have access to both indoor and outdoor areas, so it could be that they had chosen to be inside at that point. In our Top Tips we do advise visiting the same enclosure later in the day if you are unable to see the animal on your first passing. The ostrich are part of wild explorers, so the field you are referring to is also home to the white rhino, grevys zebra and scimitar-horned oryx. We’re constantly evaluating all of our animal enclosures and feel that they are sufficient in order to provide the animals with opportunities to seek shade, shelter, privacy when they want it, and fulfil their welfare needs. Larger animals, such as our big cats, have naturally planted landscapes, access to height, provision of water and shade. We have a program of enrichment to help stimulate animals within their environments which includes regular evaluation. We're glad you came away from your visit happy! Hopefully we will see you around the park again soon.
