Thanks for the cool review. A bit of history will explain some things. The hotel (B&B) was started in 1874 by the Murrays (the district here is called Murrayville) and Sharon one of the innkeepers is one of those Murrays. One of our object is historical authenticity and that explains the landscaping. We have avoided turning the front into a “strip mall look “ but rather more like it is in the old photos. That is why the parking is logs, grass and gravel as opposed to black top and concrete curbing . A further advantage from an environmental perspective is rain water is absorbed rather than runoff and this is a sought after feature for an area attempting to deal with excess storm water run off which damages the downstream fishery. The old for sale sign “Hotel for sale” was an artifact found in the attic when we restored some things. The sign was made in the 1800’s. Rumor has it that Billy Murray was a bit of a joker and he would put the sign up sporadically to bug the neighbors and to create a “stir “ in the community. Sort of like a Facebook posting in the contemporary world. IT sure works because instantly the neighbors and everyone else starts talking. Thanks for staying and thanks for the review.
