We're so glad you are coming back - and we look forward to you joining us for one of the English Heritage members' tours into the Greenwell mine (the deep shaft). You're right, there are no cages or any barriers in this mine and you can crawl deep into the galleries looking at the extraordinary work these miners did 4500 years ago - the tools they used (deer antlers) are still lying around the galleries and it makes the experience even more memorable All of us on site want to share as much as possible about these extraordinary people and the way they lived and worked - this year, we've created a 'handling kit' in the the public mine so that everybody can get to feel the tools and materials Neolithic -man worked with and we hope it encourages questions (and challenges!) that help us share the story well
