"Don't throw trash in that dumpster! Use the other one.........please." This was the actual comment "barked" at me by a maintenance person on the morning we left the Coachland RV Park. I saw that the worker had a large red cone and a handwritten sign, and I just had to return to

Response from coachlandrvpark, General Manager at Coachland RV Park
Responded 12 Sep 2016
Our signage has never been a source of contention before; however, we feel that clarification is needed on our "ridiculous" sign. Because a guest did not read the rv park rules and did not follow the directions of our sign at the trash dumpster, they threw hot coals into the dumpster, and not the metal trash can, and started a large fire. My Manager was dealing with the fire department as well as the trash company who instructed her not to let anyone put trash back into the dumpster once the fire was extinguished. She created this sign as a temporary measure, using the materials she had on hand. Obviously it got the attention it needed, because people did not throw trash into it, and instead used the trash can a few feet away. This was a stressful emergency situation and we did not have the time to create a "professional" sign. Signage is a necessary part of our lives in any community. Many signs are required by law; others, because they are trying to avert problems that have been previously experienced. Our laundry room and restrooms must be closed for cleaning....no time of day is a perfect time for everyone. We ask that dogs not use the children's playground not just because of killing the grass, but families play and picnic on this grass and dog waste is not pleasant or healthy. We have almost 15 acres of open space around our park, as well as miles of bike and walking trails, that are also used for pet walking. Most guests enjoy the short walk to the dog park, as that is what they are doing....exercising their dogs. We think it is a plus that the dog park is not adjacent to rv or homesites, as barking dogs and other noise would be disruptive to people who may not appreciate dog noise. Thank you for noting some of the positives of our Park. We want all of our guests to have a happy and safe experience at Coachland, but we also want our guests to realize that this is a community of a few hundred people, and some rules (and signage) are necessary.
