Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
Along with the national museum in Naples, this is the best museum of the Roman world. The art work, the re-constructed rooms, all are stupendous and yield insights and appreciation you can't get from the ruins alone. Not to miss.
In 1560, Michelangelo was tasked with converting the Roman Baths to a Christian Church. Nods to science are contained therein: there is a Meridian Solar Line to track the seasons. Although the ruins of the facade do not present a traditional church, the interior is anything but a ruin.
It is located in the Plazza della Repubblica and should rank...
The visit is unmissable. Do not forget to read a good description of this wonderful and mystical church before visiting it. Or, better, follow a guided tour inside. You will be completely fascinated by the atmosphere you will find along the naves, covering the stages of history of Christianity. Niches, corridors, minor altars, all tell the long plot of many...
Following the reviews on Tripadvisor we asked our Hotel to book the restaurant- something that is required. Whilst we were there a number of people turned up asking for tables- reservations are a must.
The restaurant is small and cosy. The staff were exceptionally friendly and the atmosphere was great. The menu selection was great and we certainly enjoyed it....
Honestly, I've never had a breakfast like this. It's one of those places that you just sit and makes your day a lot happier. Me and my sister had one panini with chicken, mayonnaise and salad, one ciapata with chicken, cheese, mayonnaise and salad, two small croissants(one with nutella and one with cream), two cappuccinos and we also got one...
We went here for my husbands 50th. It was a wonderful evening. We relaxed and had a pre dinner drink on the terrace and then had a fabulous meal. The staff were very friendly and attentive.
Would highly recommend this place.
I stayed at Hotel Artemide for three nights in mid November. As the subject line says, it deserves its very high ranking. The location is great - about a 12 minute walk from the train station and about a 15 minute walk to the Trevi Fountain. There is a metro station nearby as well. Rooms are very nice - they...

Modern hotel, very convenient for the station and walkable distance from the main sites (except the Vatican). Excellent breakfast 9.9 Euros pp. Evening meals - a good reasonably priced option to local restaurants. Free bottled water in the room fridge. Restaurant of top floor (5) with adjacent roof terrace. Very helpful staff.
Myself and my friend stayed in the Liberty boutique hotel on the October bank holiday weekend and the hotel was incredible, fantastic staff, gorgeous room & central location. This is the only hotel you should stay in when you visit Rome! I can’t wait to go back!
The Hotel Independent is less than a block from Termini Station. The staff was so helpful and friendly. Our room was perfect for our family of three. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet. I would stay there again.
My wife and I visited Rome for her birthday and chose to stay at this hotel. We were so glad we did!
Everyone was so welcoming from when we arrived. The reception staff were very helpful along with Sherwin who was always on hand to help.
This coupled with a perfect location, we really enjoyed our stay here.
