Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
My wife and I were walking around trying to find the Fado Museum and we chanced upon this museum. It is worth visiting if you are interested in weapons and/or military history. It, of course being in Lisbon the capital of Portugal, concentrates on Portuguese military history and weaponry. Still interesting besides. The building the museum is housed is a...
When you add love and passion to food this is what you experience! Outstanding food. Thanks for accommodating us! The drinks and the pork belly was outstanding. It Will be our amongst are very special moments
I found Solar Do Castelo on Trip Advisor when researching Lisbon for our pre-cruise visit and it did not disappoint! In fact I don’t feel the pictures did it justice and they certainly can’t capture the ambiance. The location(vibrant Alfama), the sounds(fountains and peacocks), and the employees(especially charming Joana) make this a place to remember! I was in love the...
Lovely boutique hotel. Well located to explore the city. What the hotel lacks in amenities because, well it is a boutique hotel after all, it makes up for in impeccable service, friendly, knowledgeable staff with a can-do attitude, and attention to detail.
My only complaint however is that the rooms are not well insulated/soundproofed and are very noisy. I woke...
Memmo Alfama is a charming boutique hotel in the Alfama neighborhood that is real gem!! Fantastic modern design combined with friendly service made for a fabulous stay in Lisbon! The roof top deck bar serves excellent cocktails and tapas with views of the river and Alfama neighborhood. The White port and tonic is our new favorite cocktail!!
We stayed here for 4 nights and were very happy with everything! The hotel’s location in the Alfama area gave us easy access to many sights, shops, restaurants and all manor of transportation. The room was modern, comfortable and very clean. A lovely, complimentary breakfast buffet was a delicious and convenient start to our day. The staff was very friendly...
