Bay of Kotor is fairly large and resembles Lake Como according to my husband, a nice little compliment for a balkan country. We were tossing up between staying in Old Town Kotor or a little outside at one of the numerous resorts on offer. We stumbled across Huma Bay Hotel and immediately booked it. It’s about a 5 minute drive away from the Old Town in an area called Dobrota and in a bay area called Boka.

A calm, contemporary setting with fine modern interior and an open kitchen. It screams more high end steakhouse than fine dining. It really is the most unconventional Michelin Star restaurant I’ve ever been to, one filled with unexpected surprises.

I FINALLY DID IT!
I went truffle hunting in Istria! Truffle hunting has been on my bucketlist of things to do in Croatia for the last three years and after meeting Visnja Prodan two years ago at the Pasta festival in Zminj, my wish was her command. The Prodan family are a third generation truffle hunting family and have opened up their Buzet premises in Istria for guests to come along to go truffle hunting in the forest and indulge in the delicacies afterwards...

Steirereck in Stadtpark isn’t difficult to find as the exterior of the building is mirror-like, somewhat futuristic. As we were directed to our table, I immediately noticed a similar setting to Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester.

Đakovo is the second largest town in the Osijek-Baraja County with a population of about 27,000 people. While the town has numerous religious monuments and motifs, Đakovo’s main cultural attraction is the Catherdral (Cathedral basilica of St. Peter) that is also visible as far as the highway as you pass the town from a distance. The Cathedral was opened in 1882, stands at 84 meters tall and 7 million bricks were used to create one of the most spectacular Cathedrals in Europe, inside and out.

Despite being a 3 hour drive from Zagreb, the Slavonian region of Croatia is still special in it’s own way, catering for those seeking cultural and rural tourism. Some would even say, that this is the part of Croatia to visit if you really want to avoid the crowds.

What makes island of Vis so special? It’s untouched nature and authentic dalmatian settlement. There’s certainly a different energy throughout the whole island and although Vis is a popular destination for tourists, it’s nothing compared to the likes of Hvar island.

My favourite part of Budapest has always been Matthias Church. Not only is the Church absolutely breathtaking but also gives you uninterrupted views of Budapest’s “Pest” side. Matthias Church has been there since 1015 but like many churches around Europe was also a Mosque for 150 years once the Ottoman Turks took over. Today it is a Roman Catholic Church.
