Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have been twice in the last couple of days, so had four meals between us. The place is spotless, the staff are super friendly, the food was great, I loved the home made potato salad and coleslaw we got on each meal. Each dish had fresh salad on too, which was crisp and fresh. The views were amazing over the harbour.

Sunny busy day in the Isle of Whithorn so was pleased to find this cafe with sea views, outside seating and on site parking. Very long wait to get seated and cafe not very busy It seemed there was a lack of communication between the staff and I was left standing at the entrance for almost 15 minutes, firstly to get someone's attention, then to order and finally to pay One junior member of staff was very unsure about anything I questioned her on Pleasant girl but more training wouldn't go amiss. Once I finally got seated and the food arrived it was very nice. Tasty home made soup, delicious pavlova and an excellent cup of tea. Would have preferred food and drink served in crockery but obviously some covid guidelines still in place with disposable cups and cutlery etc Look forward to returning when a gentle flow of efficiency has returned.

We planned a day out on the Machars Peninsula, but soon realised the day before that there wouldn’t be be many places open with it being a Sunday! We made it to the Tearooms around 1.30 pm and were able to take a seat by the large panoramic window with views over the harbour. Stunning! My husband had the homemade lentil & veg soup and sarnie, which he said was excellent. I had a tuna cheese melt and chips (and fresh salad/crisps), which were also yummy. Our plates were empty very quickly! The service was brilliant, both our tea and lunch were prepared really quickly and the waitress and cook were very friendly and helpful. I thought with it being one of the few places open that it would be noisy, dirty and unwelcoming. It was so far from this, clean, bright and relaxing. I’d definitely recommend a visit here. Shame we were too full to try out the delicious cakes!

Lovely community cafe great sunny areas to eat or drink inside and out. Lots of homemade cakes and grub. Sadly they were out of Steak pie - the homemade Sausage & caramelised onion rolls were Delicious. Fab views and spotlessly clean. Small shop area selling essentials and local crafts. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend!

This place is an excellent asset to the community and run by the community too it seems. Friendly staff serve up good food and drinks (licensed) and there’s outdoor seating with great views of the village and bay.. it also has a small shop which is useful and a connection hall which I guess is also good for the community. Lovely place..

My wife and I call in to the cafe almost on a weekly basis, food is usually good with friendly staff. However today's visit left us wondering if we should go somewhere else. My wife ordered Baked potato with prawns in a mayo sauce, it arrived , the sauce was so runny it was almost spilling of the plate, what on earth had been done to it, we may never know, disappointed she returned it and ordered a soup, which proved nice and comforting. My usual fish and chips were also below parr, last weeks fish was lovely and fresh with a delicious crisp batter, todays was limp almost soggy and looked far from fresh, the arden peas also looked well past their date being multicoloured and shrivelled up. Oh dear no idea what was going on today but please sort it out.

A lovely wee tearoom and shop with a beautiful view over the harbour. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. This tearoom is partially staffed by volunteers and they are doing a fab job, the only downside was there was no gluten free options to enjoy with my cuppa, a couple of options wouldn't go amiss,

We visited the tearoom twice during a recent stay in the area: once for coffee & cake and once for lunch. We were more than happy with all the anti covid procedures being put into practice there. We had to wait only a minute or so to be seated and received a friendly welcome. We were asked to fill in a track and trace form as we were sitting in. The tables are more widely spaced than before, but there is still plenty of indoor seating available. Everything was spotlessly clean, and we saw tables and chairs being thoroughly cleaned after customers had departed. There is a one-way system through the cafe. We were seen to quickly and although there were quite a few other customers our food arrived very promptly and was delicious. Payment by card was quick and easy. There is also a lot of seating in the garden area in front of the cafe, and folks wanting to eat outside have to collect their food from a specified location inside. All in all we were very happy with our visit and have no hesitation in warmly recommending this lovely cafe.

Arrived just before noon in the middle of a cold October bike ride & was very relieved to receive a warm welcome... and we’re just in time for a full breakfast .... bacon, black pudding, haggis, mushrooms & beans ... all gluten free! Sat in a sunny window & warmed up with a pot of tea. Felt very safe in the airy environment which was very CoV19 aware.

This my first cafe experience since March. The staff in the cafe and shop have worked had to make it Covid secure. A lot of extra work for them and a lot of thought put into guiding customers through the process. My food was delicious, I was delighted that the salad had a tasty dressing. My dog was welcome and I felt safe. I will definitely return now.

The breakfast was a good size and served till 12, bonus when on holiday. The staff were friendly enough, the cafe was not full but the whole place had an air of panic about it - the lady serving us must have asked us at least 3 times what we had ordered, tried to give us someone else’s cake order and then asked us again what we were waiting for. Dog friendly. Oh and watch out fir the haggis and black pudding - they cook, and serve it with the plastic on, which I am told is standard 😳

Drinks were fine. Selection of cakes, etc. was a bit limited but this was near the end of their day. No scones and most of the cakes were sweet but they did have a Teacake with butter which was good. Will try again at a better time of day.

1st trip here with the family and mum.and stepdad who live nearby. Ist impressions are a spotlessly clean cafe / restaurant with fresh cakes on display. Quickly offered an extra table and chairs to accommodate our group and a highchair. Staff are very young but clearly incredibly efficient and helpful. A nice choice of hot and cold on the children's box and all food out was out quick and fresh. Loved my haggis and cheese toastie!!!! I would only say well done, it works and don't change a thing. A lovely delightful lunch.

We had the most delicious afternoon tea this afternoon in the tearoom. What a variety and selection of both sweet and savoury ( both hot and cold savoury ) - we were spoilt for choice. It was all delicious.😋 😋😋😋. Took the leftovers home with us too! Great friendly and efficient service too. Can’t recommend their afternoon tea highly enough. Book in advance & come hungry ! Enjoy the lovely view when you’re eating. Thank you to everyone at the tearoom. We look forward to returning.

A great cafe in this picturesque little harbour town at the bottom of the peninsula. Good choice of food and cakes with great service from the volunteer staff. I had a tasty Ploughman's Lunch and my dear wife had a cheese and onion toastie and chips. Good portions and reasonable prices. Well done to all the staff. You do a great job. There is also a small shop with a wide variety of goods.
