Dropped in without a reservation. Food was lovely, steak pie and scampi. Would have had puddings but we were all full.

This was for a period a gourmet restaurant, it still has some of those pretensions and would do better to lose them completely. Very good beer, good standard pub fare. Welcoming and cosy and warm on a cold day. Only open at midday on Sunday - let's hope this changes but it is away from the nearest road, which isn't... More

hi thank you for your review we only open on a sunday all day as we have tried opening from 12 until late and have not been able to justify staff , heating , for only a handful of customers. most people are on the fells in the day and pop in at 4 for a refreshing pint and great... More

we visited this pub 2 nights on a break to the area. it was ok but the places to eat in this area are rather limited without travelling a few miles. the food again was only ok and definitely too pricey. a big disappointed once again was that there were dogs allowed in the eating area.

Super little country pub with a great friendly atmosphere. Landlord and landlady really helpful and relaxed. Great beers and wines at realistic prices. Fire glowing and locals have a drink and a chat. Now for the food!! If you have been bashing down a fell or peak then head here for a feast of home made fayre. The steak pie... More

Have been visiting this pub for over 20 yrs so have had plenty of comparisons regarding food. Quite pricey for a village pub but food on this occasion eventually was good. need to book a table as always seem to be busy.

All of my family gathered here for a meal the evening before our wedding. We pre ordered due to the size of the group and the food was brought out promptly. The food was good home cooked food and all of the staff were very friendly. There was a slight issue with one of the meals which was rectified straight... More

On August 2nd, 2016, we booked to have dinner there after spending the day around Crummock Water and Buttermere. We loved the food (I had an Asparagus and Mushrooms pie and my fiancé had a Rump Steak) – It was really spot on and we loved the atmosphere. Before entering the inn, we walked around a bit and we fell... More
