Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Three of us went here for lunch after a long walk. We received a friendly welcome. We had three different beers which were all excellent. Our meals were excellent, one had sea bass, two had pulled venison burger. The food was well presented and obviously...cooked with considerable imagination and skill. The two ladies who looked after us were lovely and highly professional. We meet weekly at different pubs around Surrey and we all agreed this was right up there as one of the best pub lunches we’ve had. Although not cheap, you didn’t need to order any sides or extras (although there are plenty available) and actually we felt it was good value.More

Delightful venue and staff. Excellent menu with significant emphasis on gluten free options (v. rare !). Local ales of considerable quality. My game pie was the best pie I can recall EVER ! (and I eat a lot of pies !) The best sticky toffee...pudding this side of Saturn. I can't believe I've lived so close and not been here for over forty years. Will be back much sooner.More

The staff was lovely and very helpful, the food was excellent - exceeded our expectations! Everything was delicious and cooked with perfection - Tempura Prawns, House Burger and Fillet Of Salmon were spectacular! Best food we ever had and we know what we’re talking about...as we’ve been to many restaurants in the UK and Europe. We can’t wait to come back to this amazing place and highly recommend it to everyone who wants to experience this beautiful place and taste the amazing food 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩More

I’ve been into this pub many times over the years as I walk my dog locally. Ever time I pop in for a quick refreshment after my walk I’m just shocked at the attitude of the staff. How does the manager get away with employing...staff who have absolutely no customer service skills, not even a smile.. well probably as she has none of her own. She is rude and unfriendly and the same for her deputy I don’t think I’ve ever seen her smile once. A local pub should be inviting and welcoming. If I was the owner of this pub I’d quickly remove the managementMore

Absolutely amazing! We had an incredible lunch at the Carpenters Arms. The staff were incredible and so helpful. One member of our group suffers from Coeliac and the team were really helpful and considerate in talking us through the menu and options available. The food...was absolutely outstanding. Some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. So happy we found this pub. Will 100% be returning.More

I have taken this route down through limpsfield on our way to tunbridge wells this past 2yrs and having seen the sign for this pub many times I finally peeled off the main road to go visit. Pleased we did as this was a great...find, warm friendly staff led by a great manager her name escapes me but she is really nice. We got chatting to a staff member Sheila, she is a character of the pub good at her job and engages with all customers, she told us all their meals are fabulous we must come back and try their Sunday Roast they are the best ! so we took her for her word and booked up for the following week and invited two of our friends who have dined at some of the high-end restaurants in across London. We were seated in the restaurant and served by Sheila and Megan they were very accommodating and made us feel very comfortable, very I love my friends but can be a little demanding Megan was on form and delivered excellent service. After our wonderful roast dinner our friends told Sheila their roast dinner was The Best they had ever had, Sheila then advised us to try the Cream Brûlée we did it was awesome.More

I really wanted to love this pub/restaurant and leave with a warm glow and a desire to return, for whilst the food served was good it was not mind boggling good for the overall cost of the meal: three starters and four main courses plus...two bottles of Chapel Down and a few coffees at the end was in excess of £220 for the four of us, albeit that figure included a discretionary service charge of 10% which we happily paid as the service was on point and very personable. Dining area was incredibly noisy and echoey, so perhaps the owners should invest in some soft wall covers etc to mitigate the noise. Would we return: probably yes as our very good friends of long standing live nearby, but my preference would be a visit in the early evening in coming months when we could all sit outside and enjoy the late afternoon/early evening sun and actually be able to hear what is being said at the table.More

Visited the pub whilst out with two friends. It looks beautiful from the outside. There were three staff as we entered, none of them seemed interested in us being there. We asked if they served drinks as everywhere was laid up for lunch. We were...served, grudgingly and took our drinks outside. We all ordered gin and tonic. On examination of the lemon slices in the drink we found them to be brown and solid. It was obviously days old. We would not return to the venue. Unfriendly.More

This is a location .. pub that myself & family frequent on a regular basis over a number of years. Today the lunch that my wife and I order was far below the quality we expect in comparison to previous meals over the years and...this has been our third visit where food has been poor. My wife ordered a lamb patty as described on the menue which did not resemble lamb in any form or taste. The burger clearly was not made by the restaurant. I ordered the fish sea bass with a salsa and gnocchi pasta. The salsa was only small pieces on peppers onions sweet corn and black beans and no sauce which I would expect. Extremely over priced and poorly prepared ... for such a high price. As a family we would expect much more from the chief as we have received far superior quality food in the past. JUST TERRIBLE AGAIN 😞.More
