Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have been here a couple of times (and loved it) and had always wanted to bring my (adult) children at some point as they are both keen cooks and love trying new foods/restaurants. This finally happened a couple of weeks ago when I brought...them for Sunday lunch as an early birthday celebration for my son and we had the most wonderful meal with Matt pronouncing his roast beef as the best roast he's EVER had and that's high praise as he's very particular about his roast dinners! All the food was just delicious - I had the roast chicken and I can honestly say that I have never tasted chicken like it, it had such an incredible flavour and was absolutely nothing like chicken that is served in so many other places. The roast potatoes were beautifully crispy, the side vegetables interesting and delicious and we even managed a few desserts to share which were also amazing! Service was perfect too. All in all, the children loved it as much as I do! Thank you.More

Consistently outstanding and its only rivals in Oxfordshire are Le Manoir and The Nut Tree. We skipped starters and went straight into the Sunday roast beef. Slow cooked and perfectly pink all through. Boringly I had the yummy crepes suzette and I'm told the tarte...tatin with clotted cream was excellent too.More

We absolutely loved everything about our dinner. Attentive and friendly staff, smart cooking of the highest quality ingredients. And a sparkler in my dessert to wish me happy birthday. We live locally and know how lucky we are to have such a brilliant restaurant so...close. Thank you all.More

Fantastic starters and desserts. Decent sized creme brulee! Unfortunately let down by the mains. For £54 the steak was not the best of cuts, cooked perfectly though. Triple cooked chips lost thier way a little being in a fries format, rather than chunky. Sole was...really lonely without any veg and at £49 you would expect a designed course with appropriate accompaniments. There was a generic side dish of veg as an option, but our attention was not drawn to it. They could have up-"soled" it. Ahem. Service was attentive and on the ball with Coeliac options. Staff really welcoming. Glasses never went dry, but at these prices I would expect a quick table scrape of debris between courses. Good décor, but verging on a cliché (enough French words?!) with the Singer sewing machine table legs and mismatched chairs. Nice relaxed atmosphere though, with subtle tunes. We left a little conflicted, as the food was of a high standard, but not quite there when paying Michelin prices. It's the difference between a return visit to a destination eatery...More

I found this restaurant in a small village . Patrons excellent welcome, Food 1 Souffle and 1 Foie gras to start followed by 2 fillet steaks. Avery nice bottle of chardonnay a a zero beer. Total of meal £172 without service charge I do not...pay for a service of food to table. Overall the meal was excellent but too expensive . Would love to revisit if prices were more affordable. I visit a michelin star restaurant near me and the prices are not as expensive as this. All said it was very nice though.More

We were visiting the area for the weekend celebrating a 50th birthday. La Table D'Alix was a salivating experience which we really enjoyed. A lovely warm welcome by the restaurant owners Antoine and their staff. Very helpful and informative on the menus and ingredients. En...attendant - Freshly baked bread buns with local butter. Saucisson, a generous sliced cured meat with hazelnuts and gherkins. Tasted very nice and was good whilst the chef prepared and cooked our order. I ordered a Raspberry Cosmopolitan which was served with an orange peel lighted then served in the cocktail to release the orange zest aroma. Starters - Cheese soufflé, soft tasty and Cheesy and the accompanying sauce was delicious. Sea scallops, tender, went beautifully with the pancetta and celery micro greens. Mains - Cod, again tender soft and flaky, curry sauce not overpowering, very nice flavour. Hunters Chicken, tenderly cooked and moist with flavourful olive tapenade and basil, the kale was seasoned well and crisp. The Romanesco nicely charred. Desserts - Tarte tartin, sweet pastry with caramelised fruit. Chocolat surprise, oh my word this was soo good! A Chocolate mouse that had a praline biscuit base that resembled maltesers flavour, the mouse was gorgeous and I loved the caramelised crispy zest decorated on top which gave the dessert a hint of sweet lemons. The Staff pleasantly surprised by adding a sparkler candle to my husband's dessert and singing Happy Birthday which was really thoughtful, kind and made the occasion special. Thank you so much! :-) Wines - Upon asking the restaurant owner advice on wines, I had a glass of white wine which was light and fragrant. It accompanied the chicken very well. I also had a dessert wine which was again light, softly sweet and fragrant. We have dined at a few Mitchelin restaurants and this has been an overall very pleasant experience. The Bill was in my view very reasonable for fine dining. I liked that the owner's family participated in the dining experience and it reminded me of time spent in France dining with family and friends. Thank you.More

I just love everything about this restaurant. The welcome, the ambience, the staff, the food. I really shouldn’t be writing a review because I want to keep this brilliant venue a secret.

We booked for 12 for a birthday lunch…..it could NOT have been better. Fabulous food, excellent services. A truly memorable and enjoyable luncheon. Everything was perfect from pre planning to the dessert wine. Not easy to cope with a large table in the midst of...a very busy Sunday lunch but it was seamless. A big thank you to Camille and all the staff.More

Eight of us celebrated my daughter's 40th birthday. We had the cosy private dinning area which was lovely, cocktails and champagne as we ordered our food . Then a fabulous dinner with charming and efficient staff. Couldn't find fault at all and the complimentary brandy...and champagne at the end of the evening was a lovely touch Thank you.More

My husband and I finished the Plough after a particularly difficult day. The seating area was welcoming and comfortable and the waiting staff were friendly and attentive. The food was nothing short of exceptional! I am a vegetarian, and although there were few vegetarian options,...the pasta I had was homemade, delicious and delightful.More

This is a very special place. The Sunday lunch was superb with the beef beautifully cooked and desserts were delicious. There is a comprehensive wine list as well. The location is wonderful, as was the atmosphere, generated by the enthusiasm of the staff. Unlike so many...establishments, they were constantly available and ready to help where needed. It was lovely to feel that nothing would be too much trouble and that they were genuinely interested in our comments regarding both food and wine. A definite place to make a return visit.More
