Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Waited 40 minutes for a sandwich. Unfortunately the order hadn’t gone through to the kitchen. Refund requested but the landlady’s attitude when challenged that only food refunded was not the best! Nothing she could do apparently! We had already bought 2 rounds whilst waiting and...would’ve had to get another if we’d waited any longer! Will not go back!More

This is a pub with real character! The food is amazing and drinks prices are a real pull too. We love the style of the decor and the staff are really friendly. Nowadays there is another attraction and its Johnny's quiz! Not to be missed...cos its so much fun. You dont need to be brainy to join in as the questions are so varied and anyone could win with all the twists and turns. Using tablets that Johnny provides, he guides you through using them, so you dont need to be tech savvy. Its fast but with lots of breaks in between the rounds to go and get drinks. Oh what a night!More

The curry I had was without doubt thee worst curry I've ever had , mixed up and stird up so much that the chicken pieces were broken up into strings, and it was like a stodgy stiff blob in the stainless pan it came in,...on top of that I burnt my finger on the pan, the napkin under it was burt brown near the handleMore

Absolutely disgusting food, steak was off and stank. Fish and chip portion was worst than a small child’s. The staff are rude and arrogant - would avoid at all cost.

After a walk along the canal, we stopped into morrings. Amazing service. The boy and girl on the bar was very helpful providing us with vegan and gluten free options. Very warm and cosy and very fairly prices. Will be coming back again.

After being on a long hike we stopped at this pub which seemed like a nice place inside and out the beer was decent, but I ordered a special as a starter. Creamy garlic mushrooms, although the sauce was nice and hot, were raw and...had not been cooked. and also ordered pie & mash and the mash was cold. although the rest of the meal was ok.More

Very disappointed. We traveled quite far after seeing the moorings on happy valley and thought it was a nice spot near the canal. When we arrived the first thing we saw was the dog area which is right in front of the entrance wher a...dog had just been sick and another had knocked a bowl of water over. After finding a table we ordered our food, we ordered fish and chips but was told ther was no fish so ordered steak and ale pie to be told 5 minutes later when sat down there was no pies, ended up getting sausage mash and peas in a Yorkshire pudding the sausage were burned on the outside and half raw in the middle like they'd been rushed on high heat, the Yorkshire pudding had no taste and was swimming in peas and the mash was hard and stodgy with some kind of pickled fried onions on the top not nice at all. The rest of the food was not much better 2 Chicken Yorkshire pudding wraps that were about 3 out of 10, a chicken wrap which my daughter said tasted hard and like it had been microwaved this was all after waiting more than 45 minutes. We will definitely not be returning and recommend a change a chef. Again very disappointed.More

Very disappointed. There was no heating on ,it was cold. I ate the peas and the sweet potato chips but left the Gammon. As it Didn't taste right. Or smell right. Spoke to the server who offered no apology or recompense. Needless to say won't...be back any time soon.More

The Moorings usually 'does what it says on the tin' in terms of quick cheap food and a decent pint. This particular evening we drove 5 miles, passing countless other pubs because the Moorings advertises "Food served Daily 11-9pm " on the website. Even behind...the bar it has a 2 foot sign saying the same thing. However we arrived at 8:10pm on a Thursday evening to be informed "No , we've closed the kitchen now!". Despite me pointing out the sign behind the bar, the lady just shrugged. Bit of a let down when I could still see the grill lit in the kitchen. Pity, because now we will never go out of our way to eat there again.More

I visited the Moorings for lunch with some elderly relatives. I rang ahead to make sure there was space for us and the staff member (manager I think) who answered the phone was very helpful, I explained some of my companions had limited mobility and...they said they would move around some bookings to make sure the table was comfortable. When we arrived we were seated quickly, but then a few minutes later told a better table had become available with a view over the canal basin. After a while my Uncle realised he had visited the building in its former use, several decades before as a young man when hiring a canal boat for a holiday! The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful and we really enjoyed our visit. We had beef madras and scampi amongst other meals and my relatives said they were the best they had tasted.More

Most of the experience was excellent. The drinks were reasonably priced and the staff are friendly. The food is also priced reasonably and tasted very good. The portions are larger than you get in many places. The only exception to this was the desert which...was a smaller portion than I was expecting. The only real downside was that there is not a separate dining area, you are next to the bar where people are drinking and chatting quite loudly and music is playing so it can be hard to have conversation. That’s especially a big issue on a busy and so noisy Saturday night like when we were there. It would benefit from a separate dining room but the building layout would make that very tricky I think. There is also good parking right next to it.More

Came down for my lunch with my sister and it was lovely. Tom and Niamh in the kitchen did an amazing job. I ordered Halloumi fajitas with sweet potato fries and it was absolutely brilliant. Emilia had the childrens sausage and they changed the chunky...chips to fries for her. Normally it would also come with beans or peas however she doesn’t like them so opted without. She loved it. We were so excited to eat our food I forgot to take a photo before we started eatingMore
