We had a lovely week in Yorkshire , staying with the delightful Maria and Martin, who were very friendly and welcoming The rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable. The food was excellent, especially the Italian dishes ,and a very good value fried breakfast. We would definitely stay again.

The Rushcart Inn is a village pub/restaurant with 3 rooms available for b&b run by Martin and Maria who are wonderful hosts. The rooms are very nicely appointed with en-suite shower room and extremely comfortable beds. The rooms are above the pub so if you are after an early night you will possibly need some earplugs, however I would recommend spending your evening in the pub restaurant. The staff are all friendly and very efficient. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced for this level of quality. Being a village pub there is a good mix of people of all ages who seem to get along fine without any tension. On the evening I was there, they had a local singer guitarist there, Dean Fenelly, who was pretty good and performed several genres of music seamlessly and in tune. There are a few large flat screen TVs around showing sports, not my thing but appeared to be well received by various other clientele and these were not at all intrusive for those who have less interest. All in all a great place worth finding in Sowerby.

We stayed at the New Rushcart between Christmas and New Year, primarily choosing it because of its handy location for visiting family nearby. And what a good choice we made. Our room was comfortable and cosy and the staff were very friendly and welcoming, We ate a couple of times in the bar and especially liked the lamb kofta dish. It made a nice change after so much festive fare. The steak ‘n’ ale pie is tasty too and the inn serves proper Yorkshire mushy peas. We also enjoyed chatting to the regulars. Thanks to everyone who made our three night stay so enjoyable. We’ll be back.

On arrival the restaurant area was dominated by a huge silent TV showing a sports channel and filled with overloud background music. To be fair, the landlord did cut off the music when asked but the TV stayed on. The very loud chatter from the bar area also detracted from the ambiance of a comfortable country eatery. Having said that, the food was excellent and well presented. The landlord and is staff went out of their way to ensure that we had all we wanted and that everything was satisfactory. We were somewhat surprised to find that we were the only diners as it was a Friday evening when mos venues would be packed. Overall, excellent food but more of a sports bar.

Warm welcome from the owners. Our room was nice and clean and comfortable. Kim took our order for breakfast the next morning, which was really good. Owners are slightly too attentive when you're trying to eat but apart from that all good.

Room's and pub area lovely. Very disappointed with food. We eat one night of our stay we found food was bland. Landlords like to entertain till early hour's keeping guests awake to the point of having to go down and tell them it was unexceptable at 2.30 in the morning. Their accommodation has a door on the same floor which was banging every time some one went through it along with door's leading from the pub and accommodation door. Very disappointing.

We were in Halifax for a concert at The Piece Hall. We booked a night's stay at The New Rushcart Inn and we were not disappointed. Our rooms were beautifully decorated and very cosy, tea and coffee in the rooms with chocolates supplied which was a lovely touch. Toiletries and toothbrushes and toothpaste provided in the bathroom which was a great idea. We had planned to have a drink then check in and go into town but we liked it so much that we stayed and had a few drinks in the bar before heading off. We booked breakfast for the morning which was lovely, all freshly cooked and the food was great..one of the best breakfasts I've had actually. All 4 of us loved the place and next time we will stay a couple of nights so that we can see more of the area and have an evening meal at New Rushcart. The staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble, definitely recommend a visit you will not be disappointed.

This place sets the standards for hospitality. The management go above and beyond to make you welcome. The food is very reasonably priced, in fact cheap for the quality. We had a bad curry on a night out here "not in the Rushcart inn"!!! wish we had eaten in here instead. Breakfast is freshly cooked and is quality. The management just do their utmost to make sure your stay in great. Recommend this place at the drop of a hat

Stayed overnight when coming to Sowerby for a family gathering. A very quick, efficient and friendly welcome. Room was perfect for what i needed, comfy bed and spacious room. Bathroom is small but does the job. Towels were great, and large (often a pet hate of mine in hotels, is towels that are stingy and small!). Breakfast was lovely. All in all a great stay and the Rushcart Inn provided everything i needed from my stay.

Came with 3 friends for Sunday lunch, and had an excellent meal, with a good selection of vegetables. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Staff very helpful and efficient too. It was chilly outside when we arrived, and the landlord immediately lit a fire!! A very thoughtful touch, and much appreciated. This will be a place that we will definitely put on our return list!!!

Despite the sign outside claiming to be dog friendly we were turned away with one small well behaved dog. Misleading and made to feel guilty entering the pub. Shame as it’s our local and would have been a good place to stop after our walks

2nd time we have visited this out of town pub and it didn’t disappoint. The food for the price is unbeatable. Value for money with a decent pint to wash it down with lots of choice… Staff and I think the owner Gary his name where funny, friendly & attentive. 5* for me. 👏👏👍 the Phelans

Excellent food and service. Sally and John have done a fantastic job getting the pub back up and running. Atmosphere was great . Empty plates all round. Steak and ale pie was banging 😋. Will be back with our dog next time.

Travelled up from Surrey and needed a one night stay. Service was great, rooms compact but clean and well maintained. All the staff and the locals were friendly and welcoming. Ignore any reviews on here from 2019 or earlier as Martin and Maria took over last year. They are making a real go at being a great Inn despite the challenges of Covid. The breakfast was excellent both for meat eaters and veggies. You won't need much lunch as this will see you through to your evening meal. Give it a try.
