Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Travelling back from our holiday in Cornwall, got to 3:30pm and we hadn’t had lunch. We were both hungry so googled where was close by. Not many places serving food at that time on a Sunday, so called in to the Eliot Arms without having...read any reviews. Talk about a happy accident!! We both had a roast which was hot, freshly cooked and was honestly the best roast I’ve eaten out ever (and I’ve had a fair few!) Wouldn’t normally have a dessert but as the roast was so good we both decided to have a toffee apple crumble too. OH MY GOD! Hot, flavoursome and so so tasty! Would come back again in a heart beat. Cannot recommend highly enough! Oh and fabulous friendly service too!More

My husband and I visited here today for an impromptu lunch. We were very impressed with the choices on offer from the main menu and the "Specials" board. Reasonably priced food and great portions. The meals we had were very tasty (mixed grill , belly...pork slices) , we decided to be greedy and have dessert, delicious homemade toffee apple crumble which came with ice cream or custard. Very bad idea, I think our eyes were bigger than our bellies......... Very pleasant, friendly and helpful staff with a lovely atmosphere. We would definitely recommend The Eliot Arms to our friends and family. Another visit being arranged very soon.More

Visited the Eliot Arms for a Friday lunch with friends and our small dog. Fantastic welcome from the staff in this lovely old pub. Al our meals were generous and cooked to perfection, the fish pie was to die for and the fish and chips...were delicious. Venison burger with Blue Cheese, sooo tasty! I can’t recommend this pub enough. Thank you for a fabulous meal for our catch up, we were all very impressed!More

Went on recommendation of our air bnb host as were staying locally, and did not disappoint. Everyone SUPER friendly, food homemade and all really lovely (and big portions) husband rated the beer, dog rated the attention. Interesting place with lots of character, will 100% return...if we are in the Launceston area again.More

Thoroughly recommend this rather quaint pub restaurant accessible from the A30 for travellers to & from Cornwall. There were many diners when we visited who obviously know this place as locals who no doubt come back again & again. The menu is extensive with blackboard...specials prominently displayed. Service is also just great, both friendly & efficient. The food is marvellous & the portions extremely generous. Well done to the team at the Eliot Arms & keep up the excellent standards you proudly display.More

Visited the Eliot Arms on a Saturday evening whilst visiting family & we were blown away. A lovely local pub that does fantastic food. Not one of us had any complaints & despite being full we couldn't resist trying one of the desserts each. Next...time we're in the area we'll certainly be returningMore

After a lovely walk in the countryside we stopped off at the Eliot Arms for lunch. What a very pleasurable experience it was. Straight to a table in this really atmospheric pub, great service at the bar, and food order taken at the table. After...a short wait for the freshly cooked food we were presented with a plate laden with the most delicious looking fare. I had the hom made steak and kidney pie, new potatoes and veg, delicious short crust pastry loaded with chunky tender juicy meat. Sandy had griddled gammon steak, egg, chips peas, mushrooms and onion rings, a feast sized portion, and delicious to boot. I finished with the bread and butter pudding, scrumptious. All in all service, food, attentive and pleasant staff made this one of the best lunches I've ever had in a fantastic setting, well done Chris and team, will be back soon.More

The food was ok a lot of it deep fried including the mushrooms which wasn’t nice at all! The service wasn’t particularly good is and other were waiting at the bar the get served as a waitress was sat talking to a local clearly not...taking any notice we had finished out main 20 mins and the plates still hadn’t been cleared so we got up paid the bill and didn’t bother with a desert. A positive is it’s a proper traditional pub with some lovely drinks just a shame about the service hopefully they were just short staffed.More
