Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We absolutely love the Cowslip Café. We have been there frequently for quite sometime and have always found the staff excellent, friendly and very helpful. The food is great and a good selection of cakes. We would recommend this beautiful country café to all.

I Love this cafe, I have come here a few times over the last 6 months to eat. We last came here Sunday for Roast. This is the first time my friends have eaten here. They were very impressed with the decoration, the cosiness, the...food and the service. All homemade and nice portions. This is my go-to Cafe for food.More

The venue is lovely - can't complain about that. Food was average, a tuna baguette that I could have made for half the price at home and a jacket potato with a skin that was so tough it was inedible. Both with wilted rocket leaves...and no other accompaniments. (At roughly 8/9 quid, some coleslaw wouldn't go amiss) The staff (apart from one very polite, younger girl) looked as though they'd rather be anywhere else in the world than serving us. Used to rate it here and hadn't been for a while, but won't be back unless it improves.More

Food not warmed all the way through so broccoli in the centre of the quiche cold and wet. Sparse salad. Person in charge at the time rude and patronising. No apology. Expensive. Won’t be back.

Good job we booked a table, as there wasn't a free table in the place! Lovely visit, friendly staff, yummy cake and delicious hot chocolate! Recommend booking before you visit.

Totally gorgeous little spot! The staff were wonderful and totally accommodating with my 3 year old. Really good value for money and choice of food! Very happy to have found this hard to find cafe!

The original reason my wife & I visited the Cowslip Workshops property whilst on holiday in Cornwall was the quilt shop. But when we saw they had a cafe on site WITH the option of a cream tea (a novelty to us Americans), we were...compelled to take advantage of dining in proximity. Seating on the covered patio with views of the owner's extensive gardens was an ideal setting on a warm-ish early summer day to experience our first cream tea, and Cowslip made us converts to the tradition. Paired with a delicious variety of small bites on our ploughman's plate & fresh bread baked locally, the large & tasty scones with clotted cream & fruity jam gave us a meal we won't soon forget. The only reason I didn't give our visit a 5 Circles rating was because of the service received (or not), which was spotty at best & required us to leave the table more than once to make sure our order was going to be taken and then prepared & delivered. I hope that situation has been or at least is being resolved by Cafe management, as other TA reviewers have been much more pointed recently regarding the overall poor service during their meals. Food as delicious as this - with very good presentation of the dishes as served - deserves equally remarkable staff to make the customers' experiences memorable & worthy of a return visit.More

One small sausage, one slice bacon, poached egg, teaspoon of mushrooms, slice of toast, small ramekin of beans and half of a tomato = £10.45…very expensive and cold!

We’ve been long term customers if this cafe and today was an exception to the norm. My sandwich was not as I had asked. I felt the staff were lacking in customer service skills and certainly weren’t attentive. They were all miserable and the cranberry...sauce in my sandwich was as sharp as a lemon - just awful.More

Been here before but thought we would try again. Arrived as it opened for Breakfast. Waited for about 5 minutes before the staff spoke to us as they were very busy having a chat. One table being used. The server said if we wanted coffee...and cake she could squeeze us into a table which had junk on it. If we wanted breakfast the meat delivery hadn't arrived so the breakfast would be without the meat element. When I asked when the meat would arrive (due an hour earlier) she replied I haven't a clue, they are less than 10 minutes away from Warrens!). So Cowslip wanted us to sit at a table that wasn't ready (with loads of empty tables available) and pay full price for half a breakfast. We felt like we should apologise for visiting and disturbing them. We will not try a third time.More

A stunningly beautiful spot that serves outstanding coffee. I went the the Cowslip Cafe recently with members of my family. I was astounded at the beauty of the place, set as it is within a gorgeous garden with spectacular views over the open countryside. There...is a very wide selection of cakes and other food, which my family gratefully partook of! The parking is more than adequate, which helps, as my Mother is disabled. Unfortunately there is nothing for those on a plant based diet that I was able to discern apart from an apple cake, which was very tasty. The lack of choice for vegans will preclude me from revisiting often, though my family eat the standard British diet, so it was great for them. The staff were brilliant - friendly and helpful.More

We went here today first time we have been here and we thought it was delightful. The gardens in the cafe are so pretty. We sat outside and it was beautiful. Loved the little summer house too. The views from the tables at the end...across the fields were lovely. We had cheese scones and hot drinks very nice. Staff were very nice too. Will definitely be back again very soon!More
