Went with a group of friends. I had the liver as did one other friend. It was delicious but was on the menu as being with “bubble and squeak, spring greens etc. The bubble and squeak seemed to lack bubble and was just a few sautéed veg and a minute amount of mash. For £15.95 I think this is very expensive. My desert of honeycomb pancotta was also delicious but very expensive for the portion

I am pleased you enjoyed your meals but sorry you felt they were overpriced, it's not a comment we hear as using fresh and local ingredients is something we are well known for and our customers recognise that this will not be priced as cheaply as imported meat that has lower welfare standards. As you mentioned that the food was delicious I think that the quality of our ingredients speak for themselves. I hope you will be back again soon and will enjoy your meals and understand that they are priced as a reflection on quality of ingredients as well as the skill of our chefs!

What a great find, we had walked from Little Norton to the pub, a very friendly warm welcome was given with drinks outside before eating our pre booked Sunday lunch. It was definately one of the best we have ever had. Plenty of home cooked vegetables, huge yorkshire pudding and perfectly cooked beef/pork. Pudding was a very light bread and butter pudding with blackcurrant ice cream and sauce. Never thought of it before but a perfect combination. My partner had a pint of beer brewed in their own brewery onsite and was impressed with the taste and quality. Definately a pub to go to for a drink or a meal, the locals are very lucky to have such a pub in the village. Worth a visit but pre book meals as they get very busy.

We stayed in the Mason's Arms for a weekend and ate in the bar both nights. The room itself was spacious, modern and with a really comfy bed. The bathroom was scrupulously clean, but could probably do with being top of the list for renovating. The location is just fantastic - close to the A303 but you feel like you're a world away. There is a network of paths nearby, it's just perfect for walking. A particularly good breakfast too – ask for eggs benedict! The evening menu is a bit limited, but everything we ate was really nice and very fairly priced. The brisket burger in particular comes highly recommended. A few extra local ciders on tap would have really topped it off, but now I'm being picky. A lovely weekend, we'll be back.

An interesting and varied menu, the chef clearly has a passion about cooking and putting his own twist on the meals. We had one starter and two mains with no room for dessert. Clearly freshly prepared, the meal was full of flavour. This was even more evident at breakfast the following morning where every item on the full English was full of flavour and freshness (probably the best we have ever had!). Drew also runs his own brewery next door and we managed to sample a couple of his brews. They were excellent, especially the Roly Poly. If you are a lover of proper real ale then don’t miss the chance to sample them.

Thank you so much for your glowing comments and yes indeed our chefs are passionate about what they do! Drew loves to brew and Roly poly is also our favourite beer and Rolo ( AKA Princess poodle Powder Puff) is still very much around although doesn't have much to do with the actual brewing process you'll be relieved to hear!! We hope you will be back soon to sample some more of our home brew and fabulous food.

We had been to Montacute and wanted a welcoming pub for Sunday lunch. Fortunately, we had booked ahead as it was fully booked. It’s a quaint pub with small rooms and some low ceilings. It was very cosy and busy - it was a great atmosphere. The Sunday menu had the usual roast options and two alternatives and a number of starters. The pepper and salt squid looked very popular and was very good. My wife had a stuffed mushroom and enjoyed it. We both had roast beef - the beef was cooked perfectly but the vegetables could have been cooked a little more for my liking. The servings are very generous and we could not manage deserts. There is a good selection of wine by the glass and per bottle. The staff are outstanding. Welcoming, friendly and very good. The service was perfect - attentive but not intrusive. I recommend eating here but do book to avoid disappointment.

Our pub like all pubs have had to close their doors to the public, so we went down to support their takeaway food tonight. I'm so glad we did. The choice of food was amazing from a selection of pizzas from their pizza oven to fish and chips and burritos to scampi and chips plus lots more. I can honestly say the food was superb! Shall be definitely going back again.

I've been fortunate to stay here on a couple of occasions through work and it's an absolute brilliant find. Really peaceful setting and perfect place to unwind. Great rooms and very modern with everything you need and nice views out to the garden. The breakfast is something else and highly recommend the amazing pancakes with blueberry and bacon. Staff really friendly and helpful throughout stay. Special mention to the young guy working breakfast as a great example of customer service and looking after guests. Definitely one of my favourite spots and look forward to returning soon hopefully. Highly recommend and thanks for a lovely stay.

We planned a visit to the National Trust Montacute House and discovered this pub with good TA reviews close by. A great find, lovely welcome and an excellent lunch. We shared 3 starters and one main course and with 2 drinks and a coffee the bill came to £41 plus service.

We stayed last night (couple with dog) and enjoyed a meal there with family that live locally. The room was well appointed, clean and comfortable, and really dog friendly, they were happy to provide dog beds, towels, bowls etc , though we did bring our own. There was also info on local vets , walks etc. Also a small dog walking area in the grounds useful for just before bed! The evening meal was really nice and everyone enjoyed their choices. Good variety of drinks on offer including cocktails. Breakfast was good quality ingredients and nice and hot ( though we did have to pre order the evening before ) We will definitely return when visiting the area again

We went here for a family supper this week. The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff polite and knowledgeable. We had four mains and dessert . The Masons burger was as good as it always is and the Gammon steak well cooked and delicious. The Brisket burger was well spiced and delicious ,if marginally dry, but a satisfying meal. The plaice dish however was a different story. This is the most expensive main and a major disappointment. The portion was very small and the ‘Vichysoisse sauce’ was thin and watery and lacked any character or flavour. The desserts were accomplished,as is usual. We do enjoy our meals at the Masons, but the plaice dish let this lovely pub down.

First visit for Sunday lunch. Had roast beef and partner had the nut roast. Food was all banging, the beef was quality, fresh veg and all piping hot. Good choice of beer and ales as well. Staff were lovely and all attentive and polite. Would definitely recommend and visit again. Well done!

We went down with friends for a few drinks and decided to stay for a meal, as we hadn't been down for a while as heard the food had gone down hill since the change of hands to Hall and Woodhouse. 3 of us had the brisket burger and 1 had the haddock and chips. All the meals were well presented and plentiful. We were all pleasantly surprised as the burgers were one of the tastiest burgers we've had. Lovely homemade coleslaw and crispy fries. We will be looking forward to going back again to try the other offerings on the menu and we will try and squeeze in one of the puddings as there was such a great choice. Keep up the good work.

We stayed for two nights, at the lovely Poppy Cottage, which is within staggering distance of the pub door! The cottage is an absolute delight, cosy and warm, the wood burner being an absolute asset, on a wet and windy October afternoon. The kitchen is well equipped, the sitting room comfortably furnished, the bedroom is lovely, very spacious, the bed is so comfortable, with the bathroom being decorated and maintained to a high standard. We dined twice with the Masons Arms, on both occasions, the meals were excellent, we also had breakfast delivered to the cottage door, fabulous. We can't wait to return.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments and we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us so much. Nothing quite like a log fire on a wet and windy day is there, snuggle in and chillax! Hopefully next time you come the weather will be a little kinder and you can really see the area in all its glory and of course keep you fed and watered in the manner to which you have become accustomed. We aim to please!

Stayed here whilst in Yeovil on business and will book again and again . A quintessential Somerset Pub with luxury rooms and an astounding menu that easily should have a Michelin star. Staff are so friendly and accommodating and nothing is too much trouble. To top it all , it has its own camping site and microbrewery. Costs marginally more than a premier inn and yet is far better than some of the top priced hotels. Well done Masons Arms!!!
