Just back from lunch at the George Inn. First time visit there, very impressed.
The menu is varied, service friendly and attentive, and the food, especially what I had was hot, well cooked and presented. Steak Pudding with veg very tasty. The Sticky Toffee pudding more than excellent.
Thoroughly recommend. Will be going back.
Well done everyone

Ate here last Sunday and what can I say the food is fantastic with the Ambiance and atmosphere also spot on. I went for the Chorizo croquettes which was beautiful in flavour followed by the Sea Bass which was out of this world and somehow had a little bit of room left for a mint chocolate cheesecake which finished me off!
Also, The George was very accommodating with special requirements as my cousin is a really fussy eater and doesn't like butter on his veg so not only did they prepare him his own fresh plate of veg they loaded him up with a shed load of crackling!
Three courses for £28 is an absolute bargain considering both the quality and surroundings. Must be one of the biggest hidden gems in Kent if not the biggest........

We had tried to get booked in here a couple of times before, but had always left it too late - fully booked!
This time, we booked early, and were not disappointed.
I was panicking a little as we had a table booked for 7:00, but I had been held up at work and we did not arrive until twenty past. I need not have worried. The only person getting anxious was myself. The staff were were very understanding and both polite and accommodating too.
Our initial impression was very good. The bar and restaurant were clean and well organised. The young waitresses and the one lad that we saw were attentive, but not overbearing. That said, we only had to look in their direction and one of them was at our table!
The menu was varied, and the food was served reasonably quickly and was hot!
The whole experience was most enjoyable, and Mum and I will no doubt be returning in the not too distant future. The ambience in the restaurant was also pleasing, and people were able to talk to each other at a reasonable level rather than shouting at each other over loud music that we have experienced in many other places in the past.
It is obvious that the staff and management have done their utmost to ensure that eating at their establishment will be remembered as a great night out. All of the staff that we came into contact with, particularly those previously mentioned, could not have been nicer.
They are a credit to you. We will be back!

We were looking forward to eating at the George because it was recommended to us and also its the first time since Covid hit us. I was a little worried that if the place was fully booked, would the service and standards drop? and this is exactly what happened. They only had two waitresses on the lunchtime service and they were struggling to cope, it took a long time to order and a long time for the food to arrive, one of them even complained and said to us that there really should be three waitresses on with this many people. My son had the Tempura Calamari for starters and it was delicious, so there was no fault there. My wife had the Red pepper and tomato soup and that was totally disappointing. The bowl was pretty small so the portion wasn't much bigger than a coffee cup full, plus the bowl was cold. There was one piece of thinly cut white bread which was also cold and there was no butter, not good seeing they were charging £7.45. The soup its self was bland and tasteless, if the chef had actually tasted it I would be very surprised if he had let it go out. My daughter ordered the fish and chips and that was fine but her plate was cold and so the food quickly got cold. My Halloumi and mushroom burger on the other hand tasted like someone had dropped a salt pot on it. I quite like salt but nowhere near that much and yes my plate was also cold. The sweet potato chips were fine but again I had to eat them quick. My wife and daughter shared a chocolate brownie for desert and said it was nice but it would have been a lot better if it had been hot, instead it was also cold. Overall the whole thing was a big let down. The place should have been prepared for the opening after lockdown but it clearly wasn't. OK. This is a 'Pub' and not a restaurant but the food isn't cheap and they are letting their basic standards slip. We waited so long for our food, so we were pretty hungry and I think we would have eaten anything, so there was no point in sending anything back, even if we wanted to it was pretty hard getting the waitresses attention because they were rushed off their feet.

Very disappointed. I went for the fish platter, prawns were very wet and tasteless, when my mum raised this with the waitress, the response was a shrug of the shoulders. The cheeseboard was ridiculous, 3 pieces of cheese, 2 of them cut so very very thin it was ridiculous for over £9.00, and no bread as said in the menu just a few crackers.
Sadly we will not return, which is a shame, maybe they are trying to get back lost money.

Visited the pub with my family to celebrate my birthday and unfortunately left the pub still hungry.. We arrived in time for our booking and we had a lovely seated area in the restaurant , since it wasn’t very busy and it was a beautiful sunny day we asked if we could be seated outside which we have been accommodated to nicely , unfortunately we couldn’t all sit together even if we were 1 family of 7 because of Covid restrictions , even if the rules are not quite that tight anymore we were happy to comply and sat at 2 different tables , many other were not complying while we were there and they were left to it .. anyhow , we ordered our drinks and then ordered our starters and mains , all looking forward to our meals because it’s been such a long time since we’ve been out all together . Our starters arrived and we were pleased with them even if a bit bland , had a few more drinks and then our mains arrived , my burger was very over cooked, quite burned and my spicy wedges were hollow and dry for how overcooked they were and definitely not spicy at all , I do hate complaining and I have tried to eat it but it wasn’t a tasty meal all dry and burnt therefore when the waitress asked if my meal was ok I had to send it back , everyone else enjoyed their meals even if they were saying it was all bland and quite little portioned ,the monk fish ( yes it is an expensive fish ) but there was just a few medallions on the plate with 3 new potatoes it looked quite poor and overpriced for a £21 dish , we don’t mind paying if the meal is worth the money quality wise but that was quite disappointing . The lamb dish was delicious I’ve been told though . Veggie curry definitely overpriced at £15 . Finally my meal arrived and it looked lovely ! Even the wedges ! Unfortunately when I started eating , it wasn’t hot inside and it was raw .. we went from one extreme to the other .. and pork is quite dangerous.. was all mushy and stringy and definitely not cooked .. so I ate my wedges and my salad not wanting to complain anymore in the hope someone might check if my meal was okay .. but no one did .. after everyone was done eating .. me still hungry .. we had our plates collected .. mine still had my whole burger on the plate .. and taken back to the kitchen .. different waitresses came to ask if my burger was okay this time and I said that unfortunately it wasn’t .. she said she would go double check .. all a bit too late to be honest we were ready to leave .. not sure what she’s checked because she never came back to the table .. we went and collected our bill and overcooked /undercooked burger was still on the bill .. no apology.. no nothing , quite poor customer service .. We paid and of course we will never return .. which is quite a shame .. in this horrible and difficult times pubs and restaurants have been hit majorly so they need their customers support .. oh and to top it up 1 pint of Moretti £6.50 .. not really the middle of London to pay that price .. whole experience was very overpriced and disappointing .. we will definitely not return and unfortunately we wouldn’t recommend it either .

We booked a table for dinner for my Mum’s birthday as we have always experienced good food at The George and this visit did not disappoint once again.
We all ordered different and the meals were lovely as always. The restaurant was quite full, however, the 2 waitresses were very attentive and did a grand job considering they were a member of staff down. So a big thank you to Georgia and Chloe for making our experience enjoyable with their excellent service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Had Sunday lunch with friends our first post lockdown trip. We arrived early and were greeted at the door and asked to QR code and sanitize hands and then shown to the restaurant where our booking was checked and we were shown to our table. Although early the staff were very attentive and considerate.
The menu carried all the traditional Sunday lunch options which my party enjoyed, plus a Greek platter which I enjoyed, a different but enjoyable take on a Sunday lunch. Servings were plentiful.
Finally the restaurant was very covid safe!

Recommended by our b&b host. It was soon after lockdown ended so I understand things could have been different. The online menu we searched looked amazing, the menu we had on arrival was much reduced. Shame ! If you want to be well fed this is the place for you. Huge portions, too much, I fancied a desert but simply couldn’t manage it. They missed out on more takings because of it! The service was very friendly but it did seem a little like the waitress had a bus to catch. Prawn and crayfish cocktail huge and tasty the steak burger so big I didn’t know how to approach it and enough chips for two on my plate. All very lovely but too much.

Went to The George tonight 7th September
Totally did not enjoy the meal....potato, cauliflower and squash curry. It was full of tomato! Hardly any cauliflower and squash .....tasted like a ratatouille!! No taste of coconut/coconut milk!
I ate it as I was hungry. My husband had a steak burger with pancetta and cheese. The pancetta was sooo salty he didn’t eat it!
They need to either change those dishes or change the chef!!
However, the waitress was very professional trying to make things right.
Will never return to this pub again.....totally disappointed! This pub has gone downhill.
We used to go there a lot for their pies etc however, they don’t even do them now.

Booked for a Saturday evening and was glad we had as the restaurant was packed, but despite being busy there was till parking space in the carpark. Once seated our drinks order was taken promptly and the food order followed soon after. We were advised that our starters could take a while as the kitchen was very busy. In the end we didn’t wait too long before the starters arrived and all the plates were returned empty. Before long the mains arrived, these were all a good size and all of the food was really well cooked, very well presented and thoroughly enjoyed by all of us. Despite allowing ourselves a rest after the main course none of us were able to fit in a desert. Overall, a lovely evening with excellent food and a good selection of drinks, we will certainly return.

The four of us had a two course meal each, main course and puddings. We had one pork, one lamb, one beef and one Norfolk Turkey. All the main courses were a good sized portion of delicious meats with roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings. The main courses were accompanied by large portions of vegetables, cauliflower, mashed swede and cabbage cooked in butter. All of the food was really well cooked, very well presented and thoroughly enjoyed by all of us. Four excellent main courses. For deserts we had two caramel cheesecakes, one lemon tart and one white chocolate rice pudding. All the deserts were very well presented with sauces, fresh fruit or chocolate. They were large portions, absolutely delicious and very filling. This wonderful meal was finished off with a very nice freshly made coffee. The bill was very good value for such a delicious meal. The restaurant was very clean and had a beautiful timbered ceiling. As if all of this wasn’t enough, all of the staff were very welcoming, very friendly, happy and very efficient. We thoroughly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be going back again.

First visit to this old style pub. We sat inside as despite the nice weather it chose to rain on our drive out to the pub. We had two different young ladies serve us and they were both very nice. We ordered a Cajun chicken burger and a tomato, mushroom and hallumi burger. Both were good size meals. The hallumi burger was very nice but the Cajun chicken was extremely salty. Not something I have ever encountered anywhere else. Luckily my husband and I shared them and had half each of the burgers and I still left some. There was no way I could have eaten it all. It was far too salty. We were asked at the end of our meal if everything was okay and this was mentioned to the waitress. She said she would tell the kitchen but nothing was said to us afterwards. I would return but would definitely not order the Cajun burger again.

We had a Sunday roast here on 23rd February 2020. Cost £15.95 each.
The pub is very old and full of character. The staff are lovely and very friendly.
When the meal came there was a plentiful amount of meat and the side dish of vegetables were nicely cooked but oh dear, the Yorkshire had obviously been hanging around a while but it was okay. The roast potatoes were awful, which was a shame because it’s my favourite part of the meal.
I would hazard a guess that they had been raw and put in hot fat and left to cook. They were very brown on one section only and the rest was potato coloured. When I tried to cut through them when it came to the brown bit it was almost impossible. I don’t remember ever leaving roast potatoes before. They weren’t freshly cooked and they were lukewarm. They spoilt a decent meal.

Totally misrepresented by their website.
Food is basic pub food and at least 3 dishes were unavailable out of a choice of 7.
The claimed "extensive wine selection from around the world" could only provide ONE bottle of the same wine.
The booking was taken for 8pm and at 9.30pm we were told that the kitchen had closed an hour ago.
No coffee was offered and the music turned off and we felt pressured to leave.
Unsurprisingly we were the only people in the restaurant.
Don't believe the website claims and check the dates of all the good reviews.
They're all from when it was a friendly pub and restaurant.
We're local and we won't be going back.
