Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wow!!! What an incredible find. We are staying in Salcombe and wanted to dine somewhere that offered really good pub food and accepted dogs. The Fortescue was the perfect spot. Amazing food, incredible service with a super relaxed atmosphere. Thanks so much!

Today we had Sunday lunch. This was probably the best Sunday lunch we've had locally for sometime. It was a good, fresh, well cooked, Sunday lunch in a friendly, comfortable country pub at a very reasonable price with very friendly and welcoming staff.

Just had Sunday lunch and cannot praise the landlord, the food and staff highly enough! A beautiful village inn setting and from the warm and friendly greeting when we arrived it was clear we were in for something special and we were not wrong. The...Sunday lunch was excellent, beef melted in your mouth, superb Yorkshire puddings and the accompanying vegetables were cooked perfectly. The treacle tart for afters was perfection and served with ice cream. The whole experience was first class and would highly recommend this pub plus it is outstanding value for money.More

Wonderful place! I had the haddock and chips and my partner had the steak and ale pudding - both were delicious. I also finished with a lemon tart which was also lovely. Generous portions for a reasonable price. Two mains, ones pudding, two pints of...coke, and a large pot of tea for £43. Would highly recommend!More
