Wishing to visit the delightful village of Shoreham in the Darenth Valley, my friend and I booked a table for two at The King’s Arms, one of three pubs in the village.
Parking in the village is very competitive, so I would recommend using the...nearby free car park, which is five to ten minutes away on foot.
Upon arrival, we were quickly shown to a small table in the centre of the restaurant area. There was a decent choice of dishes on the menu, and added specials on a board, although we were only interested in the Sunday roast. Service was admirably speedy as within twenty minutes we had ordered and received our drinks and food. It was nice to have the condiments brought pre-emptively and the waiting staff were efficient and attentive, twice checking that everything was in order.
The roast lamb and beef was fine, not spectacular, but excellent value at between £11-13. We also had a £5.95 dessert, which similarly hit the mark.
The only possible drawback was that our table was very tightly packed in, literally within breathing distance of our neighbours. The overall hubbub could be a bit off putting to some diners. Having said that, it didn’t bother us, and there are more secluded parts of the restaurant, as well as the opportunity to eat outside.
We immediately booked for a return visit, and would happily recommend the King’s Arms to anyone visiting wonderful Shoreham.More
