The closest thing that Osaka has to a lazy Sunday afternoon at the pub is marred by some staff who come across like they learned customer relations from Aeroflot back in the good old/bad old Commie days. The scrumptious beer on tap and relaxed at...home interior are spot on, even the off-the-beaten-track residential location is not without charm, but why a few of the staff members have to treat customers as an unwelcome intrusion, I cannot understand. Especially here in Japan where customer service is generally close to flawless. While many locals drop by for a swift half, when I and my friends and family head in, its a planned excursion and we spend in excess of ¥6,000 a head, I can't help but feel the least we could get is a smile. However the more senior looking staff seem to think a scowl is all that paying customers deserve. Who knows, maybe that's management's way of keeping footfall down? Or perhaps it's precisely because we are by far the biggest spenders whenever I've been that we get the dirty looks? Five for the beer, four for the interior, three for the location, two for the food and one for the service.More
