I an see from the reviews that the Half Moon can be either exceptionally good or invoke criticism. My experience falls into the former. We've only been once before & based on that experience decided another visit was worthwhile & we were not disappointed. We...More

We ate late Sunday lunch as a large family group, and enjoyed ourselves very much. This is an attractive country pub with very traditional decor, outside space, and a children's play area. The food was hearty, as traditional as the decor, and very good, too....More

Four of us had lunch here. We thought the menu was a bit different, the food well cooked, and certainly well sourced. They even list their suppliers locally. We were served well by pleasant staff. The venue was quite busy. I thought the total bill...More

Doesn't do plain children's food like chicken nuggets, fish fingers, burger etc. Ordered tomato sauce with pasta, but the 'sauce' was tinned tomatoes which was clear to taste and confirmed by staff. Couldn't blame my children for not eating it when I can't eat tinned...More

Description
Meals Are Served Monday To Saturday Between 12pm & 15pm and 18pm & 21pm Sunday Between 12pm & 16pm The Half Moon is a cosy, 200 year old country pub located in the Ditchling Road in Plumpton, only five minutes from Lewes. Popular as a meeting place for walkers and cyclists, the pub has a fresh, seasonal menu featuring local produce and is renowned for its home cooked specialties and traditional Sunday roasts. With an open fire, a bar serving Plumpton wines, fresh apple juice from Ringden farm and Sussex bitters, and a terrace as well as seven acres of picnic grounds – The Half Moon is a lovely spot to spend an afternoon. We highly recomend the Harvey's ale battered Pollock with hand-cut chips and minted pea purée, and the home made chocolate brownies with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream.
